This topic really makes me aware of just how much Political Correctness has been drilled into my head by our society/culture. That's all I have to add, thank you.

I lost interest in this as the article says that makes no indication that Phoebe was a minister or preacher of the church, but that is exactly what a deacon is as I posted previously. Which is why some translations change deacon to servant, because deacon is a position of leadership and of a preacher. That and it clearly says in that scripture she is a deacon of the church, or preacher/minister in the church.

This is one topic that I have struggled with for some time now <sigh>. And what am I to do with the knowledge and wisdom gleaned from the truth of God's Word in love thru some of these very same women on this site ? I'd be lying if I said this wasn't so. Are the ladies not to teach or share the good news (gospel) they've been given in Christ here on this forum also ? This topic perplexes me, I do admit. Food for thought (and nothing more) from a copy and paste below.

The "No" Conclusion: Women Cannot Be Ministers or Priests

Many people interpret the fact that Jesus appointed only male apostles, and the New Testament passages cited above as an absolute prohibition of a ministerial role for women. It is the natural order, decreed by God, that women should forever be subservient to men. Based on inerrancy of the Bible, these passages must be taken at face value, and women must forever be barred from roles in ministry.

The "Yes" Conclusion: Women Can Be Ministers and Priests

Many others view the New Testament prohibitions simply as practical advice to preserve the sanctity and tranquility of the church and to avoid scandal. Although the New Testament writers passively accepted slavery, few people would argue that we should return to the horrors of slavery. In the same way, although the New Testament writers passively accepted the oppression of women, it does not imply that a leadership role for a woman would be wrong in today's very different society. Some of the great leaders and prophets of Israel were women, so God could not have intended to exclude women from spiritual and political leadership. Paul's proclamation of equality and Jesus' willingness to defy convention and accept women into his larger circle of disciples should be the guiding principles rather than the customs of the Roman Empire in the first century. Women took as large a role in the early Church leadership as was allowed by the conventions of that society, so women today should be able to serve the Church in whatever positions they are qualified to fill.

What Does the Bible Say About Women in Ministry?

Yeah, heres some verses showing the same

Diakonos 1249 (definition)

1) one who executes the commands of another, esp. of a master, a servant, attendant, minister
a) the servant of a king
b) a deacon, one who, by virtue of the office assigned to him by the church, cares for the poor and has charge of and distributes the money collected for their use
c) a waiter, one who serves food and drink

Diakonos 1249 found in the context of these three below

AV—
minister 20, servant 8, deacon 3

Servant (diakonos) example...

Mat 23:11 But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant
1249.

Servant (diakonos) example...

Romans 16:1 I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant 1249 of the church which is at Cenchrea:

Your minister (diakonos) example...

Mark 10:42 But so shall it not be among you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister
1249

Jesus Christ a minister (diakonos) example...

Romans 15:8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister
1249
of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers:

Deacons (diakonos) example...

1Ti 3:8 Likewise must the deacons 1249 be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

What is truly interesting about this issue is we are talking about spreading the Gospel of Christ as if a sin for a woman to do. Yet the Presbyterian Church now allows openly gay pastors and allows gay weddings in the church. Something is seriously wrong here.

If the Bible sounds like it might be saying one thing and people do another, it is always better to be more cautious. In my experience as a believer, it is usually the popular belief that is the wrong belief. Most people today just do whatever they want regardless of what the Bible says. We are here to serve God and not ourselves. It's God's way or the high way. We cannot make our own way. At first glance, we may not be able to understand His ways, but we have to keep searching and knocking. For God's ways are so much higher than our ways.

In other words, people know what the right decision is deep down. If folks don't like the right way, they will just twist the Bible to make it fit their own way. But we all know, nobody is going to get away with anything, though. There are no excuses in doing what is right by God's Word.

If you were choking and the only person around to save your life was a woman, would you let her help you? Of course. Many people are spiritually choking and the only people who can reach them and bring them to the Lord, are women. I say have it at girls! Get in there and preach to God's glory.

But there's a dark side. In the liberal northeast where I live, many positions of church power are now held by women. Many of these women are men-hating feminists that are re-writing the rules to ordination, and in no small part, they're literally trying to rewrite the Bible. Their thoughts, motives and agendas are not Biblical and are meant to neuter traditional, theologically conservative people, especially men. Because of this, many congregations are dying, but the powers that be don't care, they'd rather see the failings of their actions rather than the success of traditional Christianity.

Did God appoint women as leaders and judges of His people? Does God change?

This is a perfect example of today's church. Some don't believe women can be pastors others do. As I stated before it's about the Gospel of Christ. Women can't preach the Gospel? I guess someone should have told my mom that. So if a church has a perfectly good, God fearing, Gospel preaching woman as pastor some of you wouldn't attend? Yinz would be missing out on some wonderful preaching. Man or woman, as long as the true Gospel of Christ is preached...I am all in.
