Titus Chapter 3

- He poured this spirit out richly on us through Jesus Christ our Savior, so that after being declared righteous through the undeserved kindness of that one, we might become heirs according to a hope of everlasting life.

- To receive this spirit richly, we must show our faith!

- We must serve God!

- Otherwise we can’t expect any spirit from him!

- We must also tell people about it!

- That’s how we can follow Jesus’ example!

- If we don’t do anything, why should we receive anything?

- The angels serve God, the demons don’t, everyone receive God’s spirit or not according to one’s actions!

- it’s a personal choice!

- Do we really want to get closer to God or away from him?

- In fact, becoming heir means a lot of responsibility!

- It is not possible to behave like children!

Hebrews Chapter 3

- But keep on encouraging one another each day, as long as it is called “Today,” so that none of you should become hardened by the deceptive power of sin. For we actually become partakers of the Christ only if we hold firmly down to the end the confidence we had at the beginning.

- Only if we hold firmly down to the end the confidence we had at the beginning!

- The demons were angels before they changed their minds and they lost their special relationship or union with God!

- It was their final choice!

- No way to come back!

- They cut themselves from the source of knowledge!

- They turned to emptiness!

- Think about when we get older and we stay alone!

- When people are in good health but only think about death!

- Think about Jesus saying about many ‘I don’t know you’!

- So if we want to share something with God and Jesus, we have to participate in their work!

- Remember the workers are few and the harvest is great!

- You, the one preaching, “Do not steal,” do you steal? You, the one saying, “Do not commit adultery,” do you commit adultery? You, the one abhorring idols, do you rob temples? You who take pride in law, do you dishonor God by your transgressing of the Law?

- Do we really serve God?

- Do we really work for him?

- Do we do anything?

- Or do we stay quiet without speaking, without doing anything, just enjoying life?

- Do we want to have our names written on the book of life?

- Do we look away in the opposite direction?

- And if we look in the opposite direction, what can we expect from God?

- Is he going to look away from us?

1 Corinthians Chapter 3

- For we are God’s fellow workers.

- Yes, God’s fellow workers!

- It means we are supposed to work for God and Jesus!

- If we don’t, we can’t be called God’s fellow workers!

- And if we are not God’s fellow workers, what are we to him?

- Are we a stranger?

- If so, we can’t expect anything from him!

- If we don’t have any relationship with God, that’s it!

- End of the story!

Galatians Chapter 3

- Did you undergo so many sufferings for nothing? If it really was for nothing. Therefore, does the one who supplies you the spirit and performs powerful works among you do it because of your works of law or because of your faith in what you heard? Just as Abraham “put faith in God, and it was counted to him as righteousness.”

- Working for God is like a marathon!

- We must never forget the prize!

- It is a race with many obstacles!

- And we must keep on running!

- And we can’t stop it!

- If we stop, we won’t run anymore!

- We will stay backwards!

- We won’t be able to find our way back!

- But do we run the race?

Ephesians Chapter 4

Therefore I, the prisoner in the Lord, appeal to you to walk worthily of the calling with which you were called, with all humility and mildness, with patience, putting up with one another in love, earnestly endeavoring to maintain the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace. One body there is, and one spirit, just as you were called to the one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

- Paul calls himself the prisoner in the Lord!

- And for Paul it is not pejorative!

- He was ready for everything to serve God!

- Even for death!

- Then he mentions qualities such as humility, mildness, patience maintaining the oneness of the spirit in the uniting bond of peace!

- So you have acquired a fullness by means of him, the one who is the head of all government and authority.

- Yes, we have acquired a fullness by means of him!

- Meaning of acquire:

1. Buy or obtain (an asset or object) for oneself.

2. Learn or develop (a skill, habit or quality).

- Once again, we have to get it, we must do something to get it!

- Synonyms of fullness:

- Completeness, entirety, totality, wholeness, plenitude.

- Once again, to reach this state, many efforts are required!

- We must keep it in mind!

- We must keep progressing!

- It is a never-ending story!

- It is hard work!

- We need to be conscious of that!

- And it is possible thanks to Jesus!

- And he is the one who is the head of all government and authority!

- He received it from God!

- Because of his faithfulness to him!

- Thus we must prepare for what is coming!

- And scientists keep warning human governments!

- But they have other priorities!

- They always act when we are in big troubles!

- Ministerial servants should likewise be serious, not double-tongued, not indulging in a lot of wine, not greedy of dishonest gain, holding the sacred secret of the faith with a clean conscience. Also, let these be tested as to fitness first; then let them serve as ministers, as they are free from accusation.

- Paul tells us about good qualities to develop!

- Serious!

- Not double-tongued!

- Not indulging in a lot of wine!

- We have a model to follow!

- These words are trustworthy, and I want you to keep stressing these matters, so that those who have believed God may keep their minds focused on maintaining fine works. These things are fine and beneficial to men. But have nothing to do with foolish arguments and genealogies and disputes and fights over the Law, for they are unprofitable and futile.

- Keep our minds focused on maintaining fine works!

Was it not, in fact, all those who went out of Egypt under Moses? Moreover, with whom did God become disgusted for 40 years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose dead bodies fell in the wilderness? And to whom did he swear that they would not enter into his rest? Was it not to those who acted disobediently? So we see that they could not enter in because of lack of faith.

- So let’s not harden our hearts to provoke God!

- Let’s not follow the Israelites’ example with whom God became disgusted for 40 years!

- They died in the wilderness and they didn’t enter into God’s rest!

- Did they not act disobediently!

- Did they not pay a high price!

- Because of their lack of faith!

- And they must serve as a warning to us!

- Can we etch the word disgusted into our memory to do everything except what the Israelites did!

- They could have had everything but they lost everything and they didn’t enter into the promised land!

(7) To them who.--Before the words "eternal life," at the end of the verse, we must supply "He will render." The phrase "glory, and honour, and immortality" is practically equivalent to "eternal life." "Those who honestly seek for this life shall find it." The stress is upon the words "by patient continuance in well doing," From the point of view of rhetoric, no doubt exception might be taken to the tautology; but St. Paul was far too much in earnest to attend carefully to the laws of rhetoric, and it is just this spontaneity which is in great part the secret of his power.


Patient continuance.--A single word in the Greek, but rightly translated in the Authorised version, by (according to, by the rule of) patience (persistence or perseverance) in well doing (literally, in good work). In English we should naturally say, "in good works," but the Greek, here as frequently, by the use of the singular and by the absence of the article, puts the abstract for the concrete, so covering every particular case.

Verses 7-9. - To them who by patient continuance in well-doing (literally, good work, ἔργου ἀγαθοῦ, with reference to ἔργα preceding) seek for glory and honour and immortality (literally, incorruption, ἀφθαρσίαν), eternal life. But unto them which are contentious (so Authorized Version; in Revised Version, factious. As to true meaning, see below), and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath, tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth (rather, worketh, ἐργαζομένῳ, with reference again to ἔργα in ver. 6) evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile (literally, Greek). The expression, τοῖς ἐξ ἐριθείας, is rendered in the Authorized Version "them which are contentious," ἐριθεία being translated "contention" also in 2 Corinthians 12:20; Galatians 5:20; Philippians 1:16; Philippians 2:3; James 3:14, 16. So, too, the Vulgate, qui sunt ex contentione; and similarly Origen, Chrysostom, OEcumenius, Theophylact, Erasmus, Luther, Beza, Calvin, etc. This, however, is not the classical sense of the word, which is not connected with ἕρις ("strife"), but with ἔριθος, which means originally a day labourer, or a worker for hire, being so used in Homer. Hence ἐριθεία meant


(1) labour for wages, and came to mean


(2) canvassing or intriguing for office, and


(3) faction, or party-spirit (cf. Arist., 'Pol.,' 5. 2, 6; 3, 9). . . .
