This is one of the many problems I have with xmas. It obscures the truth of who God really is and teaches that blessings come to little children from a funny character in a red suit. There is no instruction about the goodness and generosity of their Heavenly Father in the holiday.

Then later in life, when children have grown, they realize that their parents lied to them about Santa Claus. It is subtle, but it begins to plant doubts about this Jesus Christ character they were told about also.

And we wonder why young people don't have any use for religion.
When my youngest son was three, my husband sat our three boys down, and told them there was no Santa, only Jesus. He rightly discerned that it was not right for the children to put their trust in a mythical being, because he thought it might lead them to believe that Jesus is also imaginary.

That afternoon, my three year old and I went to the Mall to get a few last things for Christmas dinner. While in the parking lot, a helicopter started to circle around the mall. It gradually came down into the parking lot, and landed just in front of us. Out came Santa, with a load of toys in his pack.

He waved at my son, and then walked into the Mall.

My son, his eyes bulging, his jaw hanging finally turned to me in astonishment and said, "Boy, Dad sure was WRONG!"

LOL

After that, we kept the Santa tradition, always remembering to distinguish fact, (Jesus) from fiction. (Santa). It was an excellent lesson concerning the imagination of kids! And that son still believes and serves Jesus to this day, FYI.

I celebrate passover often in remembrance of Christ, (as commanded by Christ, do often in remembrance of me) not just once a year, Jesus is my passover, who died for my sin, and shed his blood so that God will pass over me on judgment day.

God did not free my people from egypt. so I do not celebrate it, it means nothing to me.

But who tells you Christian parents celebrate Christmas same as atheist parents? That post is based on assumption. Most of Christian parents here teach their children Santa isnt real.
I will celebrate Christmas but will tell my children Santa isnt real, that there once lived Saint Nicholas who loved God and gave gifts to the poor and teach them to share on Christmas with the less fortunate like Saint Nicholas did... the people who did not love God twisted the memory of him into Santa. And the celebration would be with the birthday of Christ with a load of Biblical movies!!! (And of course I'd mention to the children that God did not leave us the exact day in the Bible, so nobody knows when exactly He was born). So God gets the glory and Christmas is restored to what it is supposed to be.

Please guys, if you want to discuss this, move on to the plenty of Christmas bashing threads.
We are trying to have peace on this one.

Mary was blessed by God and given the hounour and privilege to carry Jesus (fully God/fully human) into the world but I don't place any more significance on her. I'm not Catholic.
I am not a Catholic either. I did preach a message about Mary this month.

Mary carried the hope for all of humanity
Mary carried eternal life and salvation
Mary Carried the anointed one.
Mary carried the Light of the world.

Then I preached that if you child of God: you carry the hope for all mankind today, you carry eternal life and salvation, you carry anointing of the anointed one, and you are and carry the light of the world.

It was deeper than what I listed here, but you get the idea. I did not worship Mary, or spend much time talking about her.

Mary was a type and shadow for all born again Christians who would carry Jesus inside and be sanctified temple of God!
The Holy Spirit resides in the belly...
John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

God has made pregnancy and travail to illustrate spiritual birth.

Micah 4:10 Be in pain, and labour to bring forth, O daughter of Zion, like a woman in travail: for now shalt thou go forth out of the city, and thou shalt dwell in the field, and thou shalt go even to Babylon; there shalt thou be delivered; there the LORD shall redeem thee from the hand of thine enemies. 5:3 Therefore will he give them up, until the time that she which travaileth hath brought forth: then the remnant of his brethren shall return unto the children of Israel.
1 Thessalonians 2:9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and travail: for labouring night and day, because we would not be chargeable unto any of you, we preached unto you the gospel of God.
Galatians 4:19 My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,

Merry Christmas and may many be born again in the next year into the Kingdom of God!
