Rosemary, for fear you will buy into what he is saying only (since he's not listening to anyone but himself)....
Here's Col. 2:17 in context.
13 When you were dead in your sins and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, God made you alive with Christ. He forgave us all our sins,14 having canceled the charge of our legal indebtedness, which stood against us and condemned us; he has taken it away, nailing it to the cross.15 And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.
16 Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day.17 These are a shadow of the things that were to come; the reality, however, is found in Christ.18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you. Such a person also goes into great detail about what they have seen; they are puffed up with idle notions by their unspiritual mind.19 They have lost connection with the head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.
So please don't think there is a "SHADOW FUNCTION of the Law." The shadow is that we aren't able to totally see what the Lord is doing, and yet we see it is him doing it.
Add to that, please note the verses about how to handle people who go into great detail of what they have seen and yet are falsely humble.
The very verse he hid to validate himself, when taken in context, cancels the validation. Like I said, I don't expect him to see this. Just didn't want you to fall for it.

You wrote: "So please don't think there is a "SHADOW FUNCTION of the Law." "
My response: Paul disagrees with you. Paul said they ARE (present tense!) a shadow (Col. 2:17).
Not sure why you would want to oppose Paul.
You wrote: "Add to that, please note the verses about how to handle people who go into great detail of what they have seen and yet are falsely humble."
My response: So now it's wrong to share the prophecies of Scripture with others?
Of course it's not wrong!
And the prophets guarantee RESTORATION of animal sacrifices (Zec. 14; Eze. 40-47; Mal. 3; Eze. 40-47; Jer. 33; Dt. 30).
And you accuse me of being "falsely humble" ?
Of course, that's another unjustified accusation. Stick to the facts, please.
No more fake news.
You wrote: "The very verse he hid to validate himself, when taken in context, cancels the validation."
My response: Say what?
Which prophet do you oppose? Zechariah (Zec. 14)?
Or Ezekiel? (Eze. 40-47)
Or Malachi (Mal. 3) ?
Or Jeremiah (Jer. 33) ?
Or Moses (Dt. 30) ?
I choose to believe the prophets...
And they prophesy of a future restoration of animal sacrifices.
And Paul CONDONED participation in animal sacrifices as well (Ac. 21).
And so did four others (Ac. 21).
And so did THOUSANDS of 1st century disciples (Ac. 21).
And so did disciples who were animal-sacrificing priests (Ac. 6).
So it's far from clear why you oppose all this Scripture.
Jesus AFFIRMS the validity of sacrifices (by quoting Is. 56). Jesus' teachings apply to all of us Christians (Mt. 28:20).
Please stop opposing what Jesus affirms.
regards...
