i think they are saved! they do pray to mary but they also worship the God of the bible! Catholics are misguided Christians who doesn't what they're doing! but god is merciful and just! as long as they accept Jesus as their lord and savior and they're good:)
I agree, one can't judge the heart of every catholic believer. While I do not believe that Christians should reverence Mary or any other saint for that matter, I do think it's funny how Christians of other beliefs systems love to accuse Catholics of idolatry yet they do not perceive their personal struggles with sin to be an act of idolatry which it clearly is.

Actually I have been discussing this on a site in the UK. I said to a catholic that we are said by faith alone, and if we repent of our sin and ask Jesus into our lives as our Lord and Saviour and believe this has been done we are saved.
He told me it was heresy to say that
I'm not saying all catholics would give the same reply

Catholics say that you have to be Catholic. Muslims say you have to be Muslim. Mormons say that you have to be Mormon.

What does JESUS say? HE is the Messiah, the Lamb of God!

Please don't quote Jonathan Smith or Saint So-and-so.

Here is a good site that explains the Catholic view of Salvation, and the Scripture that supports it. They've also got some interesting quotes from the Early Church Fathers, as well. Have a look. http://scripturecatholic.com/salvation.html

Kujo, you asked what Jesus said? Good question, it is Jesus' view that matters to us. So what did Our Lord say?

"For the Son of Man is going to come in his Father's glory with his angels, and then he will reward each person according to what he has done." Matt. 16:27

Parable of the Sheep and the Goats, where the "goats" are punished for not feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, etc. Matt. 25:31-46

What about Luke 12:43-48? "But the one who does not know and does things deserving punishment will be beaten with few blows. From everyone who has been given much, much will be demanded; and from the one who has been entrusted with much, much more will be asked." - Luke 12:48

The above verse applies to the Thief on the Cross. Some Protestants say, "Well how did he get saved, then?" Because his work was accepting the Lord Jesus as his saviour, and as he was only Christian for all of a few hours, less was expected of him.

"For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, that each one may receive what is due him for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad." 2 Cor. 5:10

When it comes to "faith and works": if you have faith, TRUE faith, then you will WANT to do works and actually DO them:

Abraham WENT as God told him to. He didn't know where he was going, he just left.
The thief on the cross said something.
Mary believed the impossible.
Noah built the ark.
The disciples followed Jesus.

Without that faith, it's impossible to please God.
