How else can we do what is good, and doing what is not good. it pierces our heart. because it is against our nature.

The old nature is still there, But it is weakened by our new nature, because it is exposed.
I don't think we do as much good as we think we do. Paul had trouble with doing good. But I was asking if there are any specific verses that say we have a new nature.

oic, cakewalk theology. Let's keep some balance here...

Gal 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.

Cake walk?? Not at all., it's much better than a cake walk crossNOTE... sorry I got your name wrong. CrossWALK is a website i get your name confused with. Here is a good devotional for you to read and it's a major blessing and it is why our walk with Jesus is a joyous one and better than cake. And a wonderful reminder of how Jesus came at Christmas and what He did for us. We are truly blessed and loved. :)

When God made man, the Bible says that God crowned him with glory and honor. (Psalm 8:5) The word “crowned” here means to encompass or to surround like a glorious circle. The glory of God was therefore man’s clothing. In other words, Adam’s whole being was gloriously radiant.
When man sinned against God, he forfeited the glory of God. (Romans 3:23) But when Jesus Christ was born, the glory of God came down. (Luke 2:9) And many years later, Jesus, before He died, said to His Father, “The glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one.”
So the glory of God which man forfeited has now been restored to him because Jesus has come. When He died on the cross, He took our shame, gave us His righteousness and restored the glory of God to us.
But what exactly is the glory of God? Doxa, the Greek word for “glory” here, means having a good opinion concerning one that results in praise, honor and glory. This means that in restoring to us His glory, God wants us to have the sense that we are praiseworthy, honorable and glorious because of His constant good opinion of us!
Beloved, because God’s glory is on you, there is a weightiness about you. People don’t know why, but their spirits are lifted when they are in your presence. There is something about you that impacts them even if they have only been with you for a short while. When you talk, they listen because there is substance in what you say.
Also, because God’s glory is on you, you can expect it to touch every aspect of your life—your finances, relationships, work and health. Your body, for example, will glow with divine health.
So my friend, because Jesus has come and restored the glory of God to you, be conscious of God’s constant good opinion of you. Know that there is a weightiness about you and arise, shine

I don't think we do as much good as we think we do. Paul had trouble with doing good. But I was asking if there are any specific verses that say we have a new nature.

He had trouble doing good when he relied with the flesh (his own power)

The new nature is the new creation. See eph 2: 10. It does not say nature. but to me it is the same thing.

You claimed you understand what I was saying. YOU WERE IN ERROR.

Simple question, when you write

"Gods love is perfect. self sacrificial. Nothing can be compared to it
We love because God loved us first, If we have not experienced Gods love, Then we have no capacity to love. "
"A non believer can only serve self. thats why he can not be righteous. He ust be born again first. That is accomplished by Grace, and the love of God only.."
"No, I am saying psuedo love is any love which falls short of Gods perfect love, period. "

What you are saying is only your perception of love defines love?

You exalt grace above everything though God is love. I would call that idolatry.

Somehow grace, the mercy and time given for people to change their ways and repent is more important than the love that is God himself?

You also claim if I do not agree with you, I do not know Gods love at all, or even love itself, only pseudo love.
I call that heresy and arrogance. How can you say what I have experienced is more or less real than what you have experienced. You claim authority above scripture for a theology that does not exist other than in the last 15 years or so.

On top of this you wish to judge me as a non-believer, because without your idea of grace I have nothing.

What I am saying is I BELIEVE Gods love so far exceeds mankinds view of love, that unless we have experienced in in grace we can not comprehend what it is..
You exalt grace above everything though God is love. I would call that idolatry.

Gods love and grace are united. they are one unit, there can be no grace from God apart from love. Gods love can not over rule Gods justice. Gods love however provided a way, as he could be our sacrfrifice, and in grace and mercy, overcome the barrier of Gods justice.

I thought this was christianity 101.?

Somehow grace, the mercy and time given for people to change their ways and repent is more important than the love that is God himself?

I have no idea what you are talking about here. This does not make any sense.

Strawman, You did not even know what I believed, So how can you continue to call my believe heresy.

You evidently are too proud to hold a conversation. All you know how to do is attack and belittle people. Again, I do not wish to play these game anymore. I did enough of that growing up.

On top of this you wish to judge me as a non-believer, because without your idea of grace I have nothing.
You deny eternal security, You deny grace.

Eternal security is only a false doctrine if grace is removed.

Grace ad love and mercy is the foundation of eternal security.

That's is my belief.

There are tons of scripture that talk about our new nature in Christ.

inner man = Roms 7:22 2Cor 4:16 Eph 3:16

New man = Eph 4:24 Eph 2:15 Col 3:10

New Creature/Creation = 2 Cor 5:17 Gal 6:15

new self = Eph 4:24

inner man of the heart = 1Pet 3:4

There are others too but I think that should suffice for now...there is something new going on for sure..

I don't think we do as much good as we think we do. Paul had trouble with doing good. But I was asking if there are any specific verses that say we have a new nature.

found another one..just thought of this one in Peter..showing that we become parkers of God's divine nature...through His word/promises

2 Peter 1:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP] Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.

I don't think we do as much good as we think we do. Paul had trouble with doing good. But I was asking if there are any specific verses that say we have a new nature.

Amen Grace!

My comment to this would be I actually do believe a person can sin all they want, but what happens is they no longer desire sin. That's the power of God that we can say wow I could sin, but I don't want to. That's the law written on our heart. I don't tell people they can't sin. I tell people that sin is stupid and leads to death and destruction. And I tell them that they are dead to sin, so how can they continue in it? Then I tell them about the goodness and kindness of God. And how if they knew better they would actually desire His will for their life. What's interesting is that He is making sons. Remember as little kids we did all kinds of stupid stuff, but as we grew up under our parents hand we stopped doing stupid stuff. Now, we can do all kinds of things, like eat as many poptarts as we want, run out into traffic, stay up as long as we want and watch scary movies, etc. All the stuff mom and dad said we couldn't do. But we have grown to the place that we no longer desire those things.

Right now I am sinning all I want. Lol.

Wow isn't He amazing! What a gloriously awesome Father we serve!

Hey Cee., that was an excellent example you gave. We can learn soooooooooooo much from one another it is AWESOME!!!!!! Words have power and God has gifted so many here on these forums how to use His Word skillfully.

Am reminded of Eph.4:11-16 while reading many of these posts;
11.And He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers.,

12. for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ.

13. until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ.

14. As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves, and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming;

15 by speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him, who is the head even Christ,

16. From whom the whole body, being fitted and held together by that which every joint supplies, according to the proper working of each individual part, causes the growth of the body for the building up of itself in love.

Wow. thanks I do not know how I missed this, I went back a few pages and could not find it.

Amen, I agree with both of you.

Maybe these guys heard a Christian say I sin all I want. But did not hear him say, I don't want to sin..And they took it and ran, and called it hyper grace..lol

I don't think we do as much good as we think we do. Paul had trouble with doing good. But I was asking if there are any specific verses that say we have a new nature.

I just had to say:
I actually think that Paul was a man of great humility and he had the propensity to overstate his sin and who he was/used to be. Obviously,he was a man who sought to serve/please the Lord but he felt that he fell short . He simply voiced it quite often! Perhaps he had confidence issues ! After all,he was given quite a responsibility to carry out for the Most High! That statement was putting it lightly!! If you have ever had the opportunity to be a leader you will understand that leading in humility gains favor whereas leading in perceived self righteous pride has a tendency to turn people off. Paul had a history of killing christians before regeneration. Perhaps he never got over that and perhaps he over compensated because he never forgave himself as Christ had done!

Here are your verses requested:
How can our minds be continually renewed if we are not putting on a new nature? Its impossible to have a mind renewed and still think and do as we once did...

Ephesians 4:24

and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Colossians 3:10

and have put on the new self who is being renewed to a true knowledge according to the image of the One who created him--

1 Corinthians 3:16

Do you not know that you are a temple of God and that the Spirit of God dwells in you?

Ephesians 3:16

that He would grant you, according to the riches of His glory, to be strengthened with power through His Spirit in the inner man,

2 Corinthians 4:16

Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day.

John 3:6

"That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.

Ill add :Our flesh is constantly warring with the spirit. But I can see how fully surrendering to Christ has made me a different person. Of course,God is still molding me and cleaning up my mess. But, I can see what God has done with me. I dont even recognize the gal I used to be and for that I cannot even convey how grateful and thankful I am that he is continually changing me!! All to the honor, glory, and praise go to the Father! I am simply the lump of clay:)

NEW MAN, NEW MAN, NEW MAN, = NEW NATURE......

MATT.5:48. - Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

ROMANS 6:11-12.
Likewise reckon you also your selves to be dead indeed unto sin,
but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.

11PETER 2:19.While they promise them liberty, they themselves are the servants of corruption:
for of whom a man is overcome, of the same is he brought in bondage.

1JOHN 4:4. - Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you,
than he that is in the world.

REV. 3:5.
He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name
out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

if we walk in the Spirit, we do not fulfill the lusts of the flesh - even so, the flesh lusts against the Spirit
and the spirit lusts against the flesh, and these two are contrary the one to the other, so that you cannot
do the things that you would, but, I can do ALL things through Christ Jesus who strengthens me.'

we're all a WORK in progress, we have a life-long walk of over-coming, one step at a time -
as the scripture states,
WE MUST OVER-COME ALL WICKEDNESS.... and again, I die daily'.....

His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence, by which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.
2 Pe ter 1:3,4

Do not lie to one another, seeing that you have put off the old self (old man nature) with its practices, and have put on the new self (new man nature), which is being renewed in knowledge after the image of its creator. Colossians 3:9,10

. . . to put off your old self (old man nature) which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful desires, and be renewed in the spirit of your minds, and to put on the new self (new man nature) created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness. Ephesians 4:22-24

I will always believe in my mind that the law is good even when my outer man is lusting after a new house or a new car or new boat etc. I want scripture that says this outer man is renewed.

An "identity" doesn't change reality. We are declared sinless in the eyes of God because the righteousness of Christ is placed into our account. Yet, still having a human nature means we will still commit sins.

If someone tells a lie - they are a liar.

If one steals something - they are a thief.

If one commits sins - they are a sinner.

Basic logic.

Yes, I know this is basic human logic Budman., but as believers we must be daily learning to rid ourselves of human logic and get to learning about faith which is totally not human logic. Neither is grace basic human logic. Faith and grace go against basic human logic.

Hebrews 11:1 Now Faith is the assurance (the confirmation the title deed) of the things (we) hope for being the proof of things (we) do not see and the conviction of their reality (faith perceiving as real fact what is not revealed to the senses.

So, our senses tell us what we USED to know before we were born again = if you sin you are a sinner.
Yes, that makes total human sense and the whole 'world' will agree with you. But Jesus changes alllll that. Jesus comes and gives us a NEW IDENTITY IN HIM. So now we are SONS.,not pigs. We are sheep not goats. The Prodigal son never stopped being a son. He was in the pig pen for a while but he came home and the Father welcomed him with open arms. He even ran to greet His son., not the pig.

Because of JESUS we are not identified as sinners any longer., we are saints and sons. But time and learning will cause us to have to UN learn and change our old ways of thinking & living and the Bible calls that-repenting.

Some have lived and thought this old way for years and years. As one poster said, as a baby we fall and get up and fall again. It takes time for us to learn how to be who we really are. We have a new heart but the old memories and habits of thought are still there and for some it takes longer than others change and repent of because they were sooo real to us and many of us built our lives on them.

But Jesus has changed everything when He went to the Cross. He gave us a new identity and that allows us to see His example from the heart and change. He gave us a new mind...For God has not given us the spirit of fear but of power and love and a SOUND MIND. That is why the Bible tells us to 'work out your own salvation with fear and trembling. work out means not work for., it means work out what JESUS has gifted us with...a new nature.

Fear and trembling is not being afraid but being serious about our walk and our learning. Like the woman who was healed of her issue of blood., she knew she was healed and when Jesus asked who touched Him, she answered with 'fear and trembling' but it was with awe and serous (thankfulness) because she knew she was healed...she felt it!!! and knew the touch of God. wow. She had nothing to fear but everything to be joyful about. I always thought she was 'afraid' but that is just not proper interpretation in light of what happened to her. She had long spent allll her money on doctors and was now poor and an outcast.

She was not allowed to touch anyone because that was against the law. Yet she dared touch Jesus., she heard about Him and dared to believe. He told her that her faith had made her whole. wow. If we do not know we are forgiven, loved and secure., we cannot move on and be able to change. Many of us end up trading one religion of works for another. Jesus changed all that for us.

The inner man is the spirit of man..

The outer man term used is only used to refer to the body and it is getting older every day and decaying.

the "flesh which has the power of sin in it " is in the body....it never gets renewed....this is where all the bad stuff is...

there is no scripture for this so-called outer man that it is being renewed ..it can't be renewed..it doesn't have the life of God in it...

When you have a chance watch the video..i mentioned earlier...it answers these questions in a good way..

Our inward man, the new man, the inner man is what God created in us when we were born again of the Spirit. It is God in Christ in us (God was in Christ reconciling the world unto himself (2 Cor. 5:19) Christ in you the hope of glory (Colossians 1:27). . . via the gift of holy Spirit.

Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold the new has come. All this is from God . . . . Has nothing to do with "man's mind". . . .

This causes the war between the flesh and the Spirit - our old man nature and our new man nature - This is the struggle Paul talks about in Romans 7. When we walk by the Spirit we will not gratify the desires of the flesh. For the desires of the flesh are against the Spirit, and the desires of the Spirit are against the flesh, for these are opposed to each other, to keep you from doing the things you want to do. (Galatians 5:16,17) Our Spirit desires to walk in obedience and that is our true desire but then our old man (the flesh) rears its ugly head!! and tries and sometimes DOES override our Spirit.

Exactly, the outer man can't be renewed... the outer man is where all those desires of the flesh reside, those desires don't go away and as Paul says, he can't master them. The good things he wants to do, he can't do them because of his flesh., but in his mind he loves those things.

I can't do videos.. I have HughesNet and videos use up my data too fast. :)
