Using the "exact" words of the Bible is NOT twisting anything ... It is repeating what is true ... Refuting those words in any way, shape or form is what is known as "twisting" ...
Have you studied hermeneutics? Have you studied translation issues? Have you considered how two Christians, both genuinely seeking to honor the Lord in studying His word, can come to differing conclusions?

The reality is that we cannot help but interpret as we read. Attempting to undermine the truth is twisting; attempting to understand it rightly is not. :)

I am not into mega churches. Those I have read about or seen are nothing more than a religious club, not a church.
My point is that we should never judge or condemn those who meet in large groups and hear a man teach, as Jesus taught, as being cold and indifferent unless you have been there in that particular group.
The local church I am a member of has an average of 80 in attendance. We all know each other. We are neighbors.
As I said, there is a time for small groups and a time for all to sit a learn.
Don't judge based on numbers, but on what is taught.

well ta da! and I do not judge by numbers

did Ralph mention all local churches as being apostate or something?

if he did, I missed it

you know, I think a person has to have blinders on not to see the mess so much of Christianity is in

I don't think you are actually saying that, but I think it is ok to notice the mess...half the church (collectively) believes in the gifts in operation today...the other half does not and some go so far as to say if you speak in tongues you are demonic

we have those who specialize and emphasize one particular thing over everything else...like healing

personally, I think the biblical model has dust collecting on it much like the family Bible in so many homes

and I am not saying I have it right either...but my heart is hungry for a reason and the mockery of the gifts that goes on in so many places does not help along with the histrionic renderings of emotional highs or soaking while ignoring everyone around you

maybe I have seen and experienced too much but I pray often that I will not be deceived

Your constant attempts at censuring and demoralizing women in preaching and teaching positions is noxious. You and others who are harassing women in ministry and justifying your attacks on these women are in no way in subjection to Christ. Your actions contradict how Jesus treated women. You are a bully.

Do you ever wonder why women resort to feminism? It's because of the men who bully them, dishonor them, and disregard their human and spiritual rights. I would never be so foolish as to knuckle under to a strange man on the internet who exhibits no self-control, is not in submission to Christ, and who verbally abuses women in ministry, using the Bible as a weapon against her. You ought to be ashamed of yourself.

Amen!

I tried to rep you, but it gave me this!

You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to AuntieAnt again.

2 Timothy 4:3 [SUP]3[/SUP]For the time will come when people will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear.

The "sound doctrine" spoken of in the above verse is referring to the exact words of the Bible ... They can be twisted, smoothed over, or ignored entirely ... However, they cannot be improved upon nor used to harm anyone ... If anyone thinks they are being abused by the word of God, then they are sadly mistake ... That is the devil deceiving them into believing what is false ... God is truth, therefore to pass along His exact message must also be truth ... God's truth is not abusive ... It is only referred to as such by those who wish to hide from a certain part of it ...

If I read him right, he said large groups will not work. Well our group of 80 works very well.

I think your problem might be like so many today. Just because a congregation calls itself a church don't make it so.
In my opinion, many if not most who call themselves churches are not in the eyes of God. Same may be true of those who call themselves Christians.

Speaking the exact word of God is NOT bullying ... When women turn to feminism it is a clear and decisive rejection of the word of God ... Their husbands or other men cannot make them do that ... To reject God and His word, one makes that decision all on their own ... They may wish to blame it on someone else, but that is incorrect ...

So if I read the Bible and come to a different conclusion than you do about something, does that mean that one of us is twisting, or is there another possibility?

This one was on that website I mentioned too. I got a lot from it. Once again, a long read, but well worth it! :)

Forgot to give some indication of what the article was about. It's titled: Authority Relationships Among Believers. It deals also with all of the different arguments given in here and the...ideologies or hierarchical models those arguments are based on.

May I suggest that you use the "Reply With Quote" button at the lower right of each post. That way everyone can see to whom you are responding. :)

Mark 16:15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

When God commanded this, it was not any command to spread falsity nor abuse ... It was a command to spread truth ...After hearing that truth, one proves whether they are a believer or not by what they then continue to spread themselves ... Do they also spread the true word or do they spread their own earthly opinions ? ...

I know how to use the button ... When responding to ALL, I have no need for the button ...

You are welcome, but thank YOU. I am very bad about forgetting to rep instead of just giving a like but I am getting better at remembering it. We ladies appreciate you so much Dino. You walk so well in love in these threads and your flesh never gets stirred up in arrogance towards anyone, so you're a good example for us. :)

Thank you sir or madam. I figured that out a few minutes ago. Often, especially when including verses, it is in response to all so I likely will not use the button ...
