Luke 3:3
And he went into all the country round about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance ( of hearty amending of their ways, with abhorrence of past wrongdoing) unto the forgiveness of sin.

Not the same as being infilled with the Holy Spirit. It's forgiveness of sins.

Mark 1:4
John the Baptist appeared in the wilderness (desert), preaching a baptism [ obligating] repentance ( a change of one's mind for the better, heartily amending one's ways, with abhorrence of his past sins) in order to obtain forgiveness of and release from sins.

Not the same as being infilled with the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 3:11
I indeed baptize you in (with) water because of repentance [that is, because of your changing your minds for the better, heartily amending your ways, with abhorrence of your past sins]. But He Who is coming after me is mightier than I, Whose sandals I am not worthy or fit to take off or carry; He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

This is different than being dunked in water. Lots get baptized in water and never get Baptized with fire and filled with the Holy Spirit power.

Luke 3:16
John answered them all by saying, I baptize you with water; but He Who is mightier than I is coming, the strap of Whose sandals I am not fit to unfasten. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and with fire.

Luke 11:13
If you then, evil as you are, know how to give good gifts [gifts that are to their advantage] to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask and continue to ask Him!

Acts 1:8
But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.

This talking about us.

Acts 2:4
And they were all filled (diffused throughout their souls) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other (different, foreign) languages (tongues), as the Spirit kept giving them clear and loud expression [in each tongue in appropriate words].

all filled............depends on if you believe the word of God or not.

God bless you all

I believe people can be baptized in the Holy Spirit at home right now if they believe.

I was baptized in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Also, I didn't get baptized just to say I was Christian. I was overcome with SOMETHING that helped me make that decision.

That's the calling of the Lord for repentance, conviction that you need God and that's really good. Lots put that off for long time. But that's for the washing of sins. Not the same as being filled with Holy Ghost power. That's why I put the verses that shows two different things.

This is the word of God.
1 Corinthians 12:9
To another [ wonder-working] faith by the same [Holy] Spirit, to another the extraordinary powers of healing by the one Spirit;

1 Corinthians 12:28
So God has appointed some in the church [ for His own use]: first apostles (special messengers); second prophets (inspired preachers and expounders); third teachers; then wonder-workers; then those with ability to heal the sick; helpers; administrators; [speakers in] different (unknown) tongues.

Acts 1:8.... They are speaking about the spostles. Not ALL Christians.

Also, read all of 1 Cor 12, 13.
You will read that gifts were given to people to help prove Gods devine nature. IT was used to prove the Word of God because the written record of the bible was not completed yet.

Your right it's the word of God. Man has gotten in their with it's teachings( from we know who) and messed things up big time. But anyone can say I'm going by the word of God from now on.

Satan wants no person filled with power of God.

There is only ONE New Testement baptism. Eph. 4:5
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

The apostles were "baptized" by the spirit. Not everyone else.
Why is it that some of you want to be jsut like the apostles? Why can ou all not understand what their job was?

This talking to Christians. There is no wording what so ever to say it was only for that time and those people. It's for Christians. As long as there are Christians alive it is still real.

Your church taught you wrong and it your responsibility to read the word of God for yourself.

@Elizabeth

Being born again is a process when you have been baptized in the Spirit of God. If you were not then God is not dwelling or living in you. Pray to God for the Holy Spirit to be baptized in you and to be born again. When you receive it, you might feel something burning inside. The Holy Spirit is what helps us do right. It's our guidance and truth. It makes our belief valid. Pray right now for God to give you the Spirit of God and it will be done.

There are two baptism Matthew 3:11 is one verse but there is many. Not just the apostles but believers. Have you read the new testament like Matthew or Romans or any book about baptism?

what does it mean to be born again?

isn't baptism of both water and Spirit?

John 3
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

that is referring to all disciples of Christ not just the apostles.

...note this is considered "earthly" things by Jesus

"12 If I have told you earthly things and you do not believe, how will you believe if I tell you heavenly things? "
