Repentance comes FIRST, then you can be reborn by the spirit.

I have been baptised in the holy spirit. In prayer a few days after i came to the Lord, I was tellign him that i don't want to be incharge of my life anymore. I asked him for his spirit, and for him to take my addictions away. I felt him reach down, and lift a heavy burden up out of me, and immidately replace it with this warm ness. I felt changed in a minute. Like i was a NEW person.

I didnt speak in any tounges, But i DID start praising him with words i had never uttered to God in my life, and Was struck with such an overwhelming joy/peace that i just couldnt stop laughing(quietly, but intensly...it was at 3 in the morning) and praising Jesus. The Greatest experience of my life(not that we should ALWAYS go from experiences) and i think i tasted a small bit of heaven right then and there. (and have since in prayer)

All this was BEFORE i was Water baptised.( the order of these thigns dont matter..GOD knows you heart. he knows what you will do or wont do) you NEED the baptism of the holy spirit. You WILL know if you received it. Becasue you WILL be a compeltely new person, changed, cleanesed. Made new. it was all CALM and PEACEFULL...no rolling or screaming. INTENSE but calm(i know soudns like a paradox...its not)

what does it mean to be born again?

isn't baptism of both water and Spirit?

John 3
5 Jesus answered, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God. 6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. 7 Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
The Holy Spirit dwells in all Christians.

Not possessing miraculous gifts doesn't mean a person is not a Christian.

There is only ONE New Testement baptism. Eph. 4:5
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism;

The apostles were "baptized" by the spirit. Not everyone else.
Why is it that some of you want to be jsut like the apostles? Why can ou all not understand what their job was?
People other than the apostles recieved the Baptism of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 10:45-47

@Elizabeth

Being born again is a process when you have been baptized in the Spirit of God. If you were not then God is not dwelling or living in you. Pray to God for the Holy Spirit to be baptized in you and to be born again. When you receive it, you might feel something burning inside. The Holy Spirit is what helps us do right. It's our guidance and truth. It makes our belief valid. Pray right now for God to give you the Spirit of God and it will be done.

There are two baptism Matthew 3:11 is one verse but there is many. Not just the apostles but believers. Have you read the new testament like Matthew or Romans or any book about baptism?

With all due respect, learn about water baptism then you can tell me whether or not I have been BORN AGAIN.

Like I sad, the Holy Spirit dwells in all Christians.

One is talking about gifts, the other is talking about being born again(baptism), Obviously water baptism doenst mean one is born again....but I wouldnt expoect some to understand that.

I am pretty sure that I am a Christian. I don't have to PROVE that to anyone on a message board.

What I was saying is just bc someone is Christian doesnt mean the WILL possess gifts.

I have been baptized twice....I know what water baptism is elizabeth, just because I'm 15 doesn't mean I am dumb. Scripture says when we are born again we have the Holy Spirit. You can't just believe and be saved....I think John 3 says you MUST be born again or you won't see the kingdom of God. I don't think you have the Holy Ghost in you if you weren't born again because that doesn't make sense then.

I have not once attacked your age. So no need to throw that out. I was actualy 15 when I became a Christian.

You are right, you have to do more than just believe and be saved. You have to be baptized. Then the Holy Spirit will dwell in you.

I believe that we agree, but where I am talkign about baptism of the holy spirit is...some think that you WILL posess miraculous gifts. It is stated in the bible that not all Christians possessed gifts.

Someone aint gotta raise the dead to be a Christian.
To me, the gifts wre performed to prove of Gods existence. So others would believe.

I believe already. I dont NEED gifts. Now, IF and I mean IF God gave hem to me I wouldnt reject them, but I dont believe he will.

  1. Ephesians 4:8
Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men.
Ephesians 4:7-9 (in Context) Ephesians 4 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Ephesians 4:11
And His gifts were [varied; He Himself appointed and gave men to us] some to be apostles (special messengers), some prophets (inspired preachers and expounders), some evangelists (preachers of the Gospel, traveling missionaries), some pastors (shepherds of His flock) and teachers.

  1. 1 Thessalonians 5:20
Do not spurn the gifts and utterances of the prophets [do not depreciate prophetic revelations nor despise inspired instruction or exhortation or warning].
1 Thessalonians 5:19-21 (in Context) 1 Thessalonians 5 (Whole Chapter)
  2. Hebrews 2:4
[Besides this evidence] it was also established and plainly endorsed by God, Who showed His approval of it by signs and wonders and various miraculous manifestations of [His] power and by imparting the gifts of the Holy Spirit [to the believers] according to His own will.
1 Peter 4:10
As each of you has received a gift (a particular spiritual talent, a gracious divine endowment), employ it for one another as [befits] good trustees of God's many-sided grace [faithful stewards of the extremely diverse powers and gifts granted to Christians by unmerited favor].

Last line. That's you!

Ok, fine. I am going to go try to raise a dead person now.
I will be back in a hour to let you know how it works out.

Raising the dead is a GIFT ya know.

You know water baptism is not how you get the Holy Spirit right? When God send in His Spirit upon you then you are baptized by the Holy Ghost and fire not the cleansing water baptism. Water is for repentance and outward show and symbolic, but the Spirit is God in you. Everybody has gifts, gifts are callings. What your calling God gave you?

Seriously man....you are going overboard.

Keep in mind that Christianity is about a persons PERSONAL relationship with God among other things.

You are acting as if I should prove things to you. I have nothing to prove to another person. Only God.

Anyway, I am off here for a while.

I will continue this later when my brain is functioning a little better. I iz TIRED

That is mighty Christian of you to be so condescending.

I will continue this conversation with loveschild in a mature way. Most likely in pm, but your comment right there shows alot of disrespect and arrogance. I will pray for you that you gain knowledge and understanding and respect for others. I will also pray for myself, because I need it. But I will not discuss my Christianity with someone who comdemns me for not believing the way he does.

Learn respect then we can talk.

Take care.

If you would, forgive me. I complain. I wasn't trying to condemn you but understand. Its not so easy.....to have the Holy Spirit pray to God and then you I believe will know God is in you and you are born again! Sorry again.....
