i think Jesus meant exactly what He said. i dont think He was being deceitful, exaggerating or using hyperbole, these are tools of Satan, not Jesus.
this is my understanding of the passage. rich people are consumed with their riches. they devoted all their time to getting there, no time for friends, family or the Lord. their cup is full and theirs no room left for the Lord.
makes perfect sense to me.
uh huh...and of course that seems to mean that you think Jesus fancied a camel going through the eye of a needle to get to heaven
it's just plain weird how you or anyone else can come back with you don't think Jesus was being deceiful, or was he exaggerating or using hyperbole
The ONLY word used by me, was hyperbole and that is not a tool of Satan
A tool of Satan would be lambasting other believers who happen to understand something way better then you do and put it out there knowing full well someone was going to come along and scream 'satan is in the house!'
no...satan is not in this house or my house and prob not even in yours...however you have a total lack of desregard for the setting, the time and the Jewish culture and the fact Jesus came to his own...
Perfect sense to one person is just plain silly and fear mongering and ignorance tooting to another
A fear response is often engendered when the risk of having one's own interpretation is kicked wide open and the light of perhaps a better understanding comes calling
nothing new
