jesus was where he was supposed to be, it was the purpose for which he came to earth
That's true, he was where he was supposed to be with respect to what the Father had planned for him, and that agrees with the idea that he suffered rather than go astray morally. But that doesn't negate that Jesus was taken to an execution site when he did nothing wrong- in the legal sense, he did not belong there. People that commit capital crimes belong there, not him.

this is from Psalm 88 HNV version and describes His suffering during death.

4 I am counted among those who go down into the pit.
I am like a Man Who has no help,
5 set apart among the dead,
like the slain who lie in the grave,
whom You remember no more.
They are cut off from Your hand.
6 You have laid Me in the lowest pit,
in the darkest depths.
7 Your wrath lies heavily on Me.
You have afflicted Me with all Your waves.
Selah.

8 You have taken My friends from Me.
You have made Me an abomination to them.
I am confined, and I can’t escape.
9 My eyes are dim from grief.
I have called on You daily, YHVH.
I have spread out My hands to You.
10 Do You show wonders to the dead?
Do the departed spirits rise up and praise You?
Selah.

11 Is Your loving kindness declared in the grave?
Or Your faithfulness in Destruction?
12 Are Your wonders made known in the dark?
Or Your righteousness in the land of forgetfulness?

Notice how He says His Father put Him in that situation. Notice how He wants to live to continue to praise His Father.

His prayer from the grave in Psalm 88 continued.

13 But to You, YHVH, I have cried.
In the morning, My prayer comes before You.
14 YHVH, why do You reject My soul?
Why do You hide Your face from Me?
15 I am afflicted and ready to die from My youth up.
While I suffer Your terrors, I am distracted.
16 Your fierce wrath has gone over Me.
Your terrors have cut Me off.
17 They came around Me like water all day long.
They completely engulfed Me.
18 You have put loved one and friend far from Me,
darkness is My companion.

while true, to try to use that to make psalm 119 a psalm of jesus would be faulty. Jesus would not say he has gone astray. He would say he was right where he belonged..

He was suffering death to save us from our sins while praying the last stanza. Actually His Father required that of Him because He so loved the world that He gave His only Son to save us. There are other Psalms like 22 where the Son says the Father has done this. Yes man was responsible for His suffering but the love of the Father and Son accomplished our salvation through it. Please read Psalm 88 which is one of His Prayers while He was dead and wanted to be raised so He could continue to praise His Father and declare His wonders and truth. He says that in other places too and even in Psalm 119.
Sorry my friend. Jesus did not say he went astray.. that was not him in psalms 119.. psalm 22 yes.. that was about him

Why? Earlier the psalmist says "The wicked have laid a snare for me, And from thy precepts I wandered not." in v. 110 (same verb). In verse 176, there is no mention of precepts or any other indication that this needs to be taken in the sense of moral error (from what I can tell). And since earlier the psalmist says they haven't wandered from his precepts, it seems legitimate to consider this in the physical sense of being "led astray" or "reel".

people get so hung up on english words that were poorly translated like it was the original language of Scripture. there are many verses that are confusing and poorly translated. why else would there be like 20 english translations with people still feeling the need to translate it again. there are also paraphrase translations like the Message which can bring out a whole new understanding when listening to it for some verses and passages. that does not mean that any of the translations are entirely correct and accurate. the blueletterbible brings up about 20 translations per verse and often helps get to a fuller meaning by comparing the translations. still that is not the original language and may not reflect the actual meaning of the original words. if you have a 176 verse Psalm, getting hung up on a couple translated words while the entire body of the Psalm indicates otherwise maybe it is time to go deeper. too bad the Hebrew scholars are absent or non-responsive.

I've heard other sincere believers say that since Jesus kept the Laws of Moses we should keep them or at least try and somehow that is following Him. Is this what Jesus was talking about in these passages?

Mathew 5:17-20 Jesus said, Do not think that I came to destroy the law and the prophets. No , I have not come to destroy them , but to fulfil them... whoever breaks the least of these commandment , and teaches men so, he will be called the least in the kingdom....

Mathew 5 verse 20 For I(JESUS) say to you, unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the scribes and the pharisees, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

In verse 17, Jesus said we're teach and do the law of Moses to be great in the kingdom and in verse 20 Jesus said unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the Law you'll in no case enter the kingdom of heaven.
Are we to do both, keep the Law of Moses like Jesus, and keep Jesus words in red . Would that be exceeding the scribes and pharisees rightousness?
The temple is gone so the temple laws wouldn't be applicable. Now, our bodies are the temple of God. As far as I can tell, the only laws left to obey are whatever our High Priest says (Jesus) and obviously the 10 Commandments.

People sometimes think that Christianity is a whole new religion, but isn't. Christ came to give Christianity to his people. Judaism was supposed to completely progress into Christianity. After that, the green light was given to take the gospel to the Gentiles as well.

dude you have some serious issues.

I looked up the word in the hebrew. It was translated correctly. To wander, to go astray.

Jesus did not do that, in the hebrew or in the english language.

I am not sure what purpose you think you have coming in here and attacking everyone who does not agree with you. But I can see why people get so frustrated and upset with you. You have no humble heart. You won’t even address people. Or answer their questions.

I am going to have to let this go. You go on your rampage. Whatever purpose it may serve. It is not servng God.

when your ready to actually discuss the word. Come and let’s discuss. Until then.. Ramble on.

Add "hijacker" (which is what you have done with this thread) and "pathetic whiner" for all your posts noting the criticisms you have received.

Wait... add "immature" to the list...

Grow up.
