a little late to the game, but hebrews 5:7 immediately popped in my mind when I read this. I'm no Psalms expert, but maybe not all of 119 is from Christs perspective (if any of it is), the BSB breaks it up into sections... idk if this is useful to you but I felt the need to post it.
The first 3 verses of Psalm 119 is an introduction. From verse 4 on to 176 is the Son praying to the Father praising the law and Word and commandments and judgments and precepts and testimonies and promises because they were His path to life by His obedience in giving His life to save us. He asked to be revived or quickened or raised to life again at least 16 times in Psalm 119 because of His obedience and the Father's promise of life in the law to Him for offering His life as a Sacrifice for our sins. The Hebrew word for life or to live haYAH H2421 He prayed 16 times in Psalm 119 when asking to be raised to life again after He died for our sins. Yes, Hebrews 5:7-9 is a direct reference to His prayer for life in Psalm 119 as well as other Psalms.

Hebrews 5:7-9
He(the Son), in the days of His flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to Him(the Father) Who was able to save Him(the Son) from death, and having been heard for His godly fear, 8 though He was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which He suffered. 9 Having been made perfect, He became to all of those who obey Him the Author of eternal salvation,

The answer to understanding Psalm 119 is knowing it is the Son praying. He is the only One Who could keep the oath He took in verse 106 to be fully obedient to the law and declared His blamelessness and obedience throughout Psalm 119. He asked to be raised to life again over and over because of His obedience because He knew the law required Him to offer His life as a sacrifice for our sins to save us. He had to be saved from the death He suffered for us. The Father answered His prayer by raising Him to life again as we are told in Romans and other places.

He had to be saved from the death He suffered for us.
Not really. Christ did not need to be saved from anything. Christ said that He laid down His life VOLUNTARILY, and He would also take it up again by His own volition.

JOHN 2:18-22: DESTROY THIS TEMPLE AND... I WILL RAISE IT UP
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. 20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days? 21 But he spake of the temple of his body. 22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

So you are laboring under some strong delusions.

Such misunderstandings of the Lord! There is nowhere in scripture that we are told to disregard the law, or that we should go ahead and serve our flesh. There are many scriptures telling us to obey the law.

If we are Christian, we are under grace for salvation, not law. We are all sinners, but every one of us are to repent of our sin, we are to go to Christ with repentance, ask forgiveness for our sin, and do our best to follow the law as God gave it. The law guides us to safety, joy, and all things good. Sin is the opposite of the law, sin kills.

The law under Moses was a fleshly law, often obeyed through fleshly rituals like cutting flesh to symbolize circumcision, or to keep to clean foods to symbolize feeding our heart and brain with uncleanliness.
Christ did not change the laws of Moses, but Christ brought the spirit of the law to us. We are to obey the spirit of the law, not the flesh of the law as Moses gave it. It is the same law, for Christ told us He and the Father are one, Christ is a perfect reflection of the Father, never disagreeing with Him.

Jesus repeated the commandments and later said if we love him we will keep his commandments. Two commandments, love God with all your heart and mind, and your neighbor as yourself, are those upon which all the laws and the prophets hang.

Jesus said he did not come to abolish the law. Make it invalid, cancel it.
He came to fulfill its meaning.

He came to fulfill, and in doing so He rendered it powerless over those who believe in Him (per Hebrews 8).

I've heard other sincere believers say that since Jesus kept the Laws of Moses we should keep them or at least try and somehow that is following Him. Is this what Jesus was talking about in these passages?

Mathew 5:17-20 Jesus said, Do not think that I came to destroy the law and the prophets. No , I have not come to destroy them , but to fulfil them... whoever breaks the least of these commandment , and teaches men so, he will be called the least in the kingdom....

Mathew 5 verse 20 For I(JESUS) say to you, unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the scribes and the pharisees, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven.

In verse 17, Jesus said we're teach and do the law of Moses to be great in the kingdom and in verse 20 Jesus said unless your rightousness exceeds the rightousness of the Law you'll in no case enter the kingdom of heaven.
Are we to do both, keep the Law of Moses like Jesus, and keep Jesus words in red . Would that be exceeding the scribes and pharisees rightousness?
Jesus was trying to show them their sinfulness. The pharisees thought they were righteous by the law. Jesus is telling them the standard is above that if you want to be righteous by your own means..

the law condemns everyone, because no one has kept the law. Save one, that being jesus himself. Who took the penalty of not keeping the law as required in our place and suffering that curse for us..

Jesus came to fulfill the law.. The law shows our sin and guilt as a schoolmaster it should have led them to christ. Sadly they crucified christ.

As for as obedience. If we learn to love everyone as Christ did. No matter who they are. We will by practice keep the law.. We call this the law of love..

So you are laboring under some strong delusions.
Acts 2:24, 32
Whom God hath raised up, having loosed the pains of death: because it was not possible that he should be holden of it.

32 God has raised this Jesus to life, to which we are all witnesses.

Acts 13:15, 26, 30-31
15 You killed the Author of life, but God raised Him from the dead, and we are witnesses of the fact.

26 When God raised up His Servant, He sent Him first to you to bless you by turning each of you from your wicked ways."

30 But God raised him from the dead: And he was seen many days of them which came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses unto the people.

Acts 4:10
then let this be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

Acts 5:30
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus, whom you had killed by hanging Him on a tree.

Acts 10:40
God raised Him up on the third day and caused Him to be seen

Romans 4:24
but also for us, to whom righteousness will be credited--for us who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead.

Romans 10:9
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”

----

^^^At least ten times Paul said that God Raised Christ from the dead. Christ didn't raise Himself...because He was dead.

Your passage in John 2 is still valid because Christ could ASK the Father for anything and THE FATHER would do it because of His love for the Son and because of The Son's obedience...He had the right to ask, and so the Son asked the Father in prayer:

Hebrews 5:7
During the days of Jesus’ earthly life, He offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the One who could save Him from death, and He was heard because of His reverence.

Don't get hung up on the word "save", as if it means "from sin". It simply means "deliverance", and then the context of the passage clarifies what kind of deliverance is being mentioned.

All mankind owes a death - including Christ - because the flesh of Adam MUST DIE for his sin (Genesis 3). Christ came in Adam's flesh through Mary. However, only The Son was worthy enough to ask to be restored to life because of His perfect obedience and because of the Father's love, giving those who believe in and who follow The Son the same exit by becoming a part of The Son's flesh, which is now worthy of eternal life; no longer having the judgment of death on it. By Faith, we can die with Christ in His body, which gives us the right to the eternal life that comes with it after.

Christ gave up His life, having faith it would be given back because He asked.

Luke 23:46 [Berean]
And having called out in a loud voice, Jesus said, "Father, into Your hands I commit My Spirit." And having said this, He breathed His last.

what about the sermon on the mount?
Jesus does the same thing

the law says this, but I tell you…..

He also exposes their true sinfulness by giving them Gods requirement. “Be perfect as your father in heaven is perfect.”

No one can match this.. this should wake them (and us) up.. but sadly it did not. And as we see still is not

His act of offering His life as a sacrifice for our sins was an act of faith. He had the promise of life in the law to Him from the Father and had faith and confidence the Father would keep His promise and raise Him to life again because of His obedience in keeping the law by giving His life to save us.

How do you understand John 10:18?

John 10:18
No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have power/authority to lay it down and power/authority to take it up again.

All scripture is true. So it all must harmonize.

Phil 2:6-7
Who, existing in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in human likeness.

Let's say you're the son of a king. "Prince Cameron."

All authority is sourced in your father, the king. All must obey the king.

The king tells the world you are his son who he loves immensely, and because you obey he tells you to ask him anything and he will do it.

So essentially, you have been given the power to do anything by virtue of being Prince Cameron, beloved son of the king, even though you can do nothing of your own power...simply ask him and it will be done.

Christ emptied Himself becoming like us in substance when He came here...but He was still "The Son of The Living God & Creator God" in Class/Status who the Father told the world - from the cloud - was His beloved. So Christ could ask ANYTHING of the Father, saying "all authority of heaven and earth is given to me".

No one could randomly kill Him...and when He chose to die the Father would give back His life because He previously asked.

This is how I understand the passage.

He did not neglect to ask to be raised again as Psalm 119 shows us from beginning to end. In the last verse 176 He even refers to Himself as a slain Lamb and asks His Father to find Him(while dead) and keep the promise of life in the law to Him by raising Him to life again.

His last words in Psalm 119 were "for I do not forget Your commandments." That includes not only the commandments He was obeying by giving His life to save us but also His Father's promise and commandment that He would live and be raised again. He had that commandment and promise from His Father. He asked His Father to give Him life again many times in Psalm 119 "according to Your promise."
