in Strong's, the word 'palaioo' is rendered 'obsolete' in the NKJV,
this is a poor translation as it simply means to 'wax old-to make ancient-wear away.
the word 'obsolete' is not in the strong's definition.

MARK 1:14.
Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

here are some scriptures denoting some of the events when the Kingdom of God comes to earth;

Zec 14:21 Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be Holiness unto the LORD of hosts:
and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein:
and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

ISAIAH 66:21.
And I will also take some of them for priests and Levites, says the Lord.

ISAIAH 19:21.
Then the Lord will be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day,
and will make sacrifice and offering; yes, they will make a vow to the Lord and perform it.

the purpose of the Levitical Priesthood in the coming Kingdom of God is to let the Law
be the nations school-master, to bring them to Christ.

The new covenant is established with the people of God.
According to Jesus, that means the NT people of God (Lk 22:20), composed of believing Jews and Gentiles.
You can call it what you want
I'm sure you'll understand if I take Jesus at his word (Lk 22:20).

Perhaps a reading of Romans 11 with the knowledge of whom the Covenant is established is in order.
I'm thinking it's not Jesus and Paul who are confused on the issue.

But Thomas was not "faithless," he did not lose faith in Jesus, he simply doubted the others' testimony of having seen him.
Not the same thing.

Yes, not all faith is true faith, not all who profess faith actually possess true faith.

Those Gentiles in the professing-faith church who do not actually posses faith (Mt 7:21-23),
in this case shown by their lording it over others, will be cut off.
I ran some concordance on "faithless", which definitely applied to Thomas, and really to Peter too. However, neither of them were "unbelieving", two very different actions.

Let's look at the Greek, then. Faithless in that verse is apistos, not believing somethings without evidence.
Unbelieving is from apeitheo, deliberate rebellion to disbelieve. That refers to those who know the truth, but refuse to consider it. So Thomas was in the "faithless" level.

This is important to distinguish because of the present attack by Judaizers. And now I realize why Romans 11, actually 10-12, belongs here.

The olive tree analogy is all a Christian needs to dispel the demands of Judaizers to keep the law.

The root of the tree is the promises God made from Adam onward.
The tree trunk/vine is a product of the "fat root" that sustains the tree.
There is only one tree that matters in the analogy in Rom 11.
That tree began with "natural branches", the Household of Israel".
Due to their unbelief, many natural branches (Israel by way of Moses) had to be pruned out by God.
That left the natural olive tree without many branches.
In the event of rebellion by Israel, (clinging to Moses), they gave place to ingrafting of Gentiles who were
strangers to the Commonwealth of Israel. To this day God is grafting them in by faith according to the promise'
of faith to Abraham, even to people not of his physical seed.
So it is that the Tree bears some natural branches (the believing part of Israel, like listed in Heb 11) like most fruit trees in a typical orchard, it also bears "wild" branches that are not of Israel. So the Tree Jesus is fitted to bear both natural and wild branches.

It is clear that God is still the vineyard/orchard keeper, willing to prune out persistently unproductive branches, while grafting in the better on the basis of belief, natural or wild. But because of his promises Israel will retain a slot/place of promise on the tree/vine if they meet God's current demand for belief in Christ. For a natural branch (Jew/Israel) to be grafted back on, that branch can't be used that way without Christ.

Meanwhile the Husbandman is examining all the branches. If one refuses to bear his desired fruit, it will be pruned off and "burned up". That goes for Jew and Gentile alike, while yet the Gentile believer is considered for grafting in by grace alone, not by promise. Last day true Israel (not all who are technically citizens there) will benefit by promise. So it is that the last day Israel must be saved by faith in Jesus Christ. Whatever it takes, God will accomplish that.

The natural branches are bound to keep the old law and to meet God's requirement of faith in Jesus Christ.

It can't possibly be that a Gentile believer must have the devotion to the Jew's law, which is unnatural to them. Even Jesus Christ is a way not natural to Gentiles, as it was for the ancient Jews. The Gentile believer enters in as a wild branch grafted on, while a natural branch Jew that is a true Jew with a "circumcised heart " can be grafted back on the Tree/Vine, once meeting the New Covenant terms. The New Covenant is God's solution for pruned Jews to resume being a branch on the Tree/Vine Jesus. Since the Jews were pruned off, that means that Jews can't be automatically reattached to the Tree/VIne on the basis of a natural branch "belonging" if already pruned off due to unbelief.
Each individual Jew then must re qualify for attachment to the Tree/Vine by belief on Christ Jesus, just like any Gentile believer must do. The Jews were pruned off because of deliberate unbelief in Jesus, making themselves equal to ancient pagan Gentiles, so may only qualify to be grafted back on to their natural spot on the tree held open by promise to Abraham.

The wild olive is missing many branches, Gentile believers taking many grafting spots that Israel lost, for now. Neither Jew nor Gentile has bragging rights.

A reason this deserves much attention is
even when faithless, Jesus has patience.
John 20:27 (KJV) [SUP]27 [/SUP] Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
But Thomas was not "faithless," he did not lose faith in Jesus,
he simply doubted the
others' testimony of having seen him.

Okay, Thomas "faithlessness" did not mean unbelief in Jesus Christ.

The olive tree analogy

The root of the tree is the promises God made from Adam onward.
The tree trunk/vine is a product of the "fat root" that sustains the tree.
There is only one tree that matters in the analogy in Rom 11.
That tree began with "natural branches", the Household of Israel".
The holy root (Ro 11:16) of the tree is Abraham.
The tree trunk (Christ) would be what came from the root (Abraham).
Belief in the Promise is the condition for being a branch on the tree.
The branches would be the people of God, the body of Christ, in whom the branches abide.

The tree of God's one people believing in the Promise began with Abraham the root,
who produced the trunk (the Promise, Christ) in whom the branches of God's one people abide,
many of whom later rejected belief in the Promise (Christ) and were cut off,
while many others believed in the Promise (Christ) and were grafted in.

So the "faithlessness" of the Jews did mean unbelief in Jesus Christ,
and is not equivalent to Thomas, with whose "faithlessness" Jesus demonstrated patience.

All those in the future who believe in the Promise (Christ) will also be branches of the tree,
whose root is Abraham.

The natural branches are bound to keep the old law and to meet God's requirement of faith in Jesus Christ.
But believing Jews are not bound to keep the old law to become part of the tree.
They become part of the tree the only way anyone has ever become part of the tree; i.e.,
by faith in the Promise (Christ).

Before "The holy root (Ro 11:16) of the tree is Abraham." sets in too long I need to challenge that since it is a vital concept concerning Rom 11. Christ was before Abraham, sustained Abraham, and sustained Israel, and sustains the body of Christ now. To take this a bit deeper, the root of the natural tree is more understandable by saying Abraham was held up by the promises from God, the promises forming the root of the tree, Jesus being the trunk (equal to "Vine"). Two sets of branches followed originally, by a two-part promise, to, and through Abraham. One was to the seed of his loin (the holy lands and many natural offspring), the nation Israel. The other was for the one Seed by faith (like Abraham's faith), not as of many seeds, that is Christ, according to Galatians 3:16 (KJV) [SUP]16 [/SUP] Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.

In other words Abraham didn't establish Jesus Christ, but the promises of God established all the tree. The tree itself then is the body of Christ, some original branches pruned off, many grafted on, both believing Jews (the first fruit in Christ, the initial disciples) and believing Gentiles grafted on. At the last however much of Israel remains alive will all be saved, believing on Messiah Jesus Christ, grafted in the same way Gentiles became of the body of Christ by faith believing.

The text states that the root is holy and, therefore, so are the branches of the tree (Ro 4:16).
The tree is people, and so is the root (the patriarchs).

Right, Abraham didn't establish Christ.
Christ was the natural result (descendant) of Abraham,
as the trunk is the natural result ("descendant") of the root.

Yes, the tree is the body of Christ, those who believe in the Promise (Christ), going all the way back

There are animals and foods that are still unclean for human consumption.

God gave numerous instructions and examples of what foods were unclean throughout Scripture. He has given none about those foods now becoming clean. (The only potentially relevant passage has nothing to do with food at all.)

All Scripture is the God-breathed word of God, including the words spoken by the Son
in these last days (Heb 1:1-2) through the NT writers.

See Ro 14:14, 20, 1Ti 4:3-4; 1Co 8:8, 10:25; Col 2:16.

See Ro 14:14, 20, 1Ti 4:3-4; 1Co 8:8, 10:25; Col 2:16.
Lemme see, Rom 14...

Rom 14:1 Him that is weak in the faith receive ye, but not to doubtful disputations.

The first thing we see here is that this chapter is about relating to a weak brother.

Rom 14:2 For one believeth that he may eat all things: another, who is weak, eateth herbs.

The subject here? Vegetarianism

Rom 14:3 Let not him that eateth despise him that eateth not; and let not him which eateth not judge him that eateth: for God hath received him.

So, if you encounter one who is weak in the faith and believes he must eat vegetables only, don’t let this puff you up…

2Co 10:12 For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise.

What is the gold standard here?

1Pe 2:21 For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:

Eph 4:13 Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:

Rom 14:4 Who art thou that judgest another man's servant? to his own master he standeth or falleth. Yea, he shall be holden up: for God is able to make him stand.

Now to the meat and potatoes…

Rom 14:5 One man esteemeth one day above another: another esteemeth every day alike. Let every man be fully persuaded in his own mind.
Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

Why is eating and fasting (not eating) connected to days here? Let’s see…

Luk 18:11 The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican.
Luk 18:12 I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess.

From Bullingers Companion Bible…

Luke 18:12

twice in the week. The law prescribed only one in the year (Lev_16:29. Num_29:7). By the time of Zec_8:19 there were four yearly fasts. In our Lord's day they were bi-weekly (Monday and Thursday), between Passover and Pentecost; and between the Feast of Tabernacles and the Dedication.

Yes they fasted two days a week, Monday and Thursday, EVERY MONDAY and EVERY THURSDAY.

Rom 14:7 For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself.
Rom 14:8 For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore, or die, we are the Lord's.
Rom 14:9 For to this end Christ both died, and rose, and revived, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.
Rom 14:10 But why dost thou judge thy brother? or why dost thou set at nought thy brother? for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
Rom 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.
Rom 14:12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.
Rom 14:13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother's way.
Rom 14:14 I know, and am persuaded by the Lord Jesus, that there is nothing unclean of itself: but to him that esteemeth any thing to be unclean, to him it is unclean.
Rom 14:15 But if thy brother be grieved with thy meat, now walkest thou not charitably. Destroy not him with thy meat, for whom Christ died.

Now Paul shifts his attention to meat offered to idols. At the time, meat and drink were offered to pagan idols. After it was offered it was sold in a meat market called the ‘Shambles’.

1Co 10:25 Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake:

Shambles…

There were those who were weak in the faith (verse 1) who were offended by this. They somehow thought that eating that food was somehow connecting them with the idolatrous practices around them. This is why the following is written…

Rom 14:16 Let not then your good be evil spoken of:
Rom 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Meat here is…

Col 2:23 Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Rom 14:19 Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Rom 14:20 For meat destroy not the work of God. All things indeed are pure; but it is evil for that man who eateth with offence.

Again, we are dealing with food.

Rom 14:21 It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor any thing whereby thy brother stumbleth, or is offended, or is made weak.

So, it is not dealing with clean and unclean, but with flesh (meat) and wine (drink) that makes a weak brother stumble.

Rom 14:22 Hast thou faith? have it to thyself before God. Happy is he that condemneth not himself in that thing which he alloweth.
Rom 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

There is no passage in Rom 14 that deals with the Sabbath or clean and unclean meats. The subjects are vegetarianism, fasting and food and drink offered to idols.

Lemme see, I Tim 4:3-4...

1Ti 4:3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and know the truth.
1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be refused if it is received with thanksgiving;
1Ti 4:5 for it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.

Oops, you stopped a verse short...

Where oh where is meat sanctified (set apart) in the Bible? Why, I think I know the answer...

Lev 11:1 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying to them,
Lev 11:2 "Speak to the children of Israel, saying, 'These are the animals which you may eat among all the animals that are on the earth:

And continues down to...

Lev 11:47 to distinguish between the unclean and the clean, and between the animal that may be eaten and the animal that may not be eaten.' "

Oh wait, it was repeated for reinforcement...

Deu 14:3 "You shall not eat any detestable thing.

God, Himself, says that certain animals are detestable. Now remember who it is that is saying this...

Joh 8:58 Jesus said to them, "Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM."

And who was the LORD that spoke this information to Moses?

Exo 3:14 And God said to Moses, "I AM WHO I AM." And He said, "Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, 'I AM has sent me to you.' "

the very One who became Jesus Christ gave the information of what is clean and unclean and what is detestable.

1Co 8:8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.

And again, you "forgot" to quote the surrounding verses...

1Co 8:7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
1Co 8:8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
1Co 8:9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.
1Co 8:10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol's temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?
1Co 8:11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
1Co 8:12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
1Co 8:13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

Oh, wait, this is not about clean and unclean, it is about food offered to idols...

It surely does, it points to the future plan of God.

Deu 14:3 "You shall not eat any detestable thing.

And where have I read that first part of Deut 14 before? Oh wait, it is coming to me, now I remember...

1Pe 2:9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
The words spoken by the Son in these last days (Heb 1:1-2) through the NT writers is as superior
to the words spoken by the prophets of old (Heb 1:1), as Jesus is superior to the prophets of old
(Heb 1:2), superior to the angels who gave the law(Heb 1:4-13), and superior to Moses who gave
the law (Heb 3:1-6).

See Ro 14:14, 20, 1Ti 4:3-4; 1Co 8:8, 10:25; Col 2:16.
There is no passage in Rom 14 that deals with the Sabbath or clean and
unclean meats. The subjects are vegetarianism, fasting and food and drink offered to idols.
And?

Ro 14 are not the only words in the Bible.

Meat was sacrificed to pagan idols, and believers are allowed to eat this meat from the meat market (1Co 8:8, 10:25).

Revelation 2:14, "But I have a few things against you: you have some there who hold the teaching of Balaam, who taught Balak to put a stumbling block before the sons of Israel, so that they might eat food sacrificed to idols and practice sexual immorality." (ESV)

Revelation 2:20, "But I have this against you, that you tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophetess and is teaching and seducing my servants to practice sexual immorality and to eat food sacrificed to idols." (ESV)

All Scripture is God-breathed (2Tim 3:16).

Looks like you've got some reconciling to do of the God-breathed Scriptures.

Yahdah 1:4, "For there are certain men who have secretly crept in, who were before of old ordained for this condemnation, unholy men, who turn the undeserved pardon of our One Supreme Savior Yahweh into licentiousness, and deny Yahshua our Messiah."
