Backing up a bit. I have said we should look past the words, and seek a deeper meaning.
When we read of 12 hours day and night. One may find this also speaking of one's spiritual life.
When one follows a teaching, they must not do so blindly. Always test everything with the word. If we simply take it as truth we walk in darkness. Never seeing the light.
To tell the truth, for me, I see this, listen to all, read all, be willing from God to hear truth over error, through it all.
Be a willing vessel for God to do God's done work of Son through you, be used by God and God will do that through those that are willing, not having to, willing to, just like God did on Pentecost, working his done work of Son through the disciples, onto the crowd. As they heard the others speak in their languages as confirmation they believe now too.
This world is full of Truth and error, not truth and dares, Errors! evil, uses truth to get errors in us.
God knows the truth in love to all in his mercy, truth and love given for all to turn to believe and see if one will do so willingly, even through any adversities happened, happening or might happen, like as Job went through, not ever denying God ever. Will we deny God? Have we over troubles, at least thought to deny God?
So, we the people make mistakes, God is here for us to see us choose to agree with God, not as a tyrant, (Oh, I am going to get you) as man does that in religion, is a lie. God is our friend, thanks to Son's done work for us. In Son's done work for us to learn new from mistakes made, seeing to not harm others or convict others or accuse or excuse either.
Be wise as a serpent, remain harmless as a dove. That is the hard part, to be aware, and remain harmless in that awareness. How hard that must have been for Son Jesus to reconcile us all in his one time willing death as forgiven, that is done (John 19:30) (2 Cor 5:17-20)
Time to ask for the new life in the risen Son, Jesus Christ, you think? And stand in that, even in any and all adversities that come up against us.

Jhn 11:30Jesus had stayed outside the village, at the place where Martha met him.
Jhn 11:31When the people who were at the house consoling Mary saw her leave so hastily, they assumed she was going to Lazarus's grave to weep. So they followed her there.
Jhn 11:32When Mary arrived and saw Jesus, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if only you had been here, my brother would not have died."
Jhn 11:33When Jesus saw her weeping and saw the other people wailing with her, a deep anger welled up within him, and he was deeply troubled.

Why was Yeshua angry? We all know that the actions of a group people can influence the way someone thinks. Even to the point of diminishing ones faith. It would be harder to hold on to hope, when all around you are without hope. We must think about the insincerity of the people around. We must always try to be honest in everything we do, if for no other reason than to not become a stumbling block for others.

Jhn 11:34"Where have you put him?" he asked them.
They told him, "Lord, come and see."
Jhn 11:35Then Jesus wept.

This act of weeping shows us many things about Yeshua, He is human, fells pain, and loves all the people.

Jhn 11:36The people who were standing nearby said, "See how much he loved him!"
Jhn 11:37But some said, "This man healed a blind man. Couldn't he have kept Lazarus from dying?"
Jhn 11:38Jesus was still angry as he arrived at the tomb, a cave with a stone rolled across its entrance.

Jhn 11:39"Roll the stone aside," Jesus told them.
But Martha, the dead man's sister, protested, "Lord, he has been dead for four days. The smell will be terrible."
Jhn 11:40Jesus responded, "Didn't I tell you that you would see God's glory if you believe?"

If you believe? As we stated above, the action of a group can influance the thoughts of others. In this case Yeshua makes it clear that to receive, a blessing we must believe. Not just in ones mind, our faithfulness must be 100%.

Jhn 11:41So they rolled the stone aside. Then Jesus looked up to heaven and said, "Father, thank you for hearing me.
Jhn 11:42You always hear me, but I said it out loud for the sake of all these people standing here, so that they will believe you sent me."
Jhn 11:43Then Jesus shouted, "Lazarus, come out!"

I was once asked, how HaShem raised Yeshua without becoming unclean. Well here it is. there is no reason to think that our creator needed to more than say the words, and Yeshua was risen.

Jhn 11:44And the dead man came out, his hands and feet bound in graveclothes, his face wrapped in a headcloth. Jesus told them, "Unwrap him and let him go!"
Jhn 11:45Many of the people who were with Mary believed in Jesus when they saw this happen.
Jhn 11:46But some went to the Pharisees and told them what Jesus had done.

From this we can say that Yeshua had the faithfulness to do what He had came to do. We must also make note of somethings. I know this won't go over well with some, yet the words here don't lie. If you will make note here that Lazarus was wrapped with 2 different cloths. One covered His body, the other his face. This was how the burial was done, and in many cases is still done today. Well at lest many Jews still follow this practice.
So I ask for any that think the Shroud of Turin is real, Why is there only one cloth? Just one example of reading the Word for what it tells us, rather than reading into the Word what we want.

Good point at the end, thanks. I do know translations are not inerrant. The only inerrant scripture is the original writings of the disciples, in the Greek writings. Translated to English, there are many mistakes made.
Such as the word If, and since.

Does if mean since in Greek?

Class Conditions of "IF" in Greek: 1. First class = (If) what follows is accepted as TRUE. Could be translated "since" or "because". True statement or fulfilled condition.

Romans 4:24
but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;

The word If above to me should be translated since. We each will see, those that beleive God on god's timing not mine or anyone else's
