I don't see it that way Meggido. EG was trying to get the thread back on track. He's not one with guile...what you see is what you get.
its ok sis,, Megiddo is new, he was not around when all the hypergrace attack threads were running out oh hand, oncefallen has seem them, so he knows what happens, I trust his guidance, If I am wrong, oncefallen will let me know. But I have seen this brewing fort a few days with a certain member (not meggido) and knew it was going to explode. So to play it saver, and try to put an end before more people get banned, it is better to just report.

Is why I also said to you yesterday that one cannot tell who has had a successful ministry in the past. I know you would be shocked if you knew who I am talking about.
I know you are not talking about me here but I had a successful ministry and was asked to train for eldership.

Then I went MIA.

Most here who know probably know why.

Never lost my faith though.

I felt a bit of attack myself Meggido when you posted about suffering. Is why I posted what I did.

I know you think there are lots of babes here...but in getting to really know what people believe and what they have gone through to come to this, that's just not fair.

Is why I also said to you yesterday that one cannot tell who has had a successful ministry in the past. I know you would be shocked if you knew who I am talking about.
So telling people they will not suffer for the cause of Christ is ok, and me saying that is wrong is not ok.....

God never told me to wrap the hammer in velvet....

Unforgiveness allows satan an advantage: 2 Corinthians 2:10-11 To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: for if I forgave any thing, to whom I forgave it, for your sakes forgave I it in the person of Christ; Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices.
Thanks, renewed for reaffirming what I said.

We must forgive. It's a part of the blood covenant. :) Satan is the author of unforgiveness. Jesus is the originator of forgiveness in the New Covenant He paid for with His blood.

The hammer doesn't crush the stone in grace. He forms it lovingly with His tools. would you like the poem? :)

And I don't know who would of said that Meggido. Maybe others you know, but not here.

Threads will evolve.. it is part of discussions.. but how easy it is to not realise what the original question was..

Hi loveme1,

Right, let's go back to the original OP and say thank you and praise you Lord for convicting us of our sins because in His kindness and mercy and by His grace He leads us to repentance and confession. \o/ Hallelujah! \o/

This one shuts them up every-time....Yeah, Hebrews dude be talkin about Jesus down there...

Hebrews 5.7-10

[SUP]7 [/SUP]In the days of His flesh, He offered up both prayers and supplications with loud crying and tears to the One able to save Him from death, and He was heard because of His piety. [SUP]8 [/SUP]Although He was a Son, He learned obedience from the things which He suffered. [SUP]9 [/SUP]And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, [SUP]10 [/SUP]being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.

ears need to be opened

you simply CANNOT toss what you find difficult to understand

God's grace does NOT stretch beyond His boundaries and yet some will make their own boundary and call it grace

God is patient and longsuffering, not willing that any should perish

that does not mean no one will

God is exactly the same as He is in the OT. His word does not consist of ever stretching elastic

I know you wouldn't as you have his trust and you are a honourable Godly woman.

I posted the following

Never lost my faith though.

Satan must be laughing.
"I know let's get them to tear each other up and apart"

And the Holy Spirit must be grieving in his heart
"Look at what you are doing to each other"

Now before I am torn apart please do not think that I am saying that Satan is using believers per-se but on the flip side we ARE grieving the Holy Spirit when we fall foul of the following.

John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

1 Corinthians 13:13

13 And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.

1 Thessalonians 5:11

11 Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.

Or we could also thank God that Jesus took away the sin of the world and He became sin "so that" we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

We can thank God that the Holy Spirit convinced/convicted us of our unbelief in Christ when we were in the world without Him and that now that we are in Him we are righteous just like Jesus said in John.

So, now the Holy Spirit convinces/convicts us that we are the righteousness of God in Christ.

This righteousness revealed when we behold Christ in us - transforms us by the Holy Spirit to walk out in our behavior who we truly are now in Christ in our new creation which has been created in righteousness and holiness.

Some people have an evangelical anaphylaxis event in their minds when they hear that the Holy Spirit does not "convict" the believer of sins because we have been taught differently.

The Holy Spirit convicts/convinces the believer of the righteousness that is in us which indirectly points to the "works of the flesh" that we need to repent of ( change our minds on how we view them ).

For example things like malice and the slandering of others in the body of Christ.

His life that is in us because of righteousness causes the works of the flesh to drop off us as we "become" who we really are in Christ in our new man - the new creation. This is "walking by the spirit" which will stop the flesh from fulfilling "it's" desires.

The word " convict/reprove/convince/expose" in question has many meanings attached to it as well.

This is why Paul said to the Corinthians that were sinning all different kinds of stuff - like going to temple prostitutes to causing strife and divisions, to taking each other to court.

Paul told then to "Awake to righteousness and sin not". Awake in the Greek means - "To sober up to be yourself, to come to one's senses and be who you truly are".

The greek word "to convict" which is used only one time in KJV means different things depending on the context. I encourage others to do a word study and you will see it in use.

It is a revealing of things.....to the world the Holy Spirit reveals/convinces/exposes their sin of unbelief in Jesus..

To the believer He reveals/convinces/exposes that they are the righteousness of Christ because He went to the Father to stand as an Advocate.

John 16:8-10 (NASB)
[SUP]8 [/SUP] "And He, when He comes, will convict the world ( unbelievers ) concerning sin and righteousness and judgment;

[SUP]9 [/SUP] concerning sin, because they ( unbelievers ) do not believe in Me;

[SUP]10 [/SUP] and concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father and you ( believers ) no longer see Me;

1 John 2:1-2 (NASB)
[SUP]1 [/SUP] My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;

Jesus is our righteousness.

If others have a different view - then they have the liberty in Christ to have that view before the Lord as they choose.

I have another word for those who I sent the prophetic to. After the slaying of the giant, came the Kingship. We are priests and Kings unto Him.

Authority. :)

what are we calling a successful ministry?

one you agree with?

you could say that of anyone

the word successful is deceiving because God looks on the heart

a little old lady in kalamazoo could have a successful ministry of intercession because God hears and answers her faithful prayers

a wof preacher could say he was successful because he has his own plane

that is so subjective I think we should leave it with God

not addressing this to you personally Bill...just a general observation

some are impressed with what they see as authority

God gave Israel the king they clamored for ...handsome and head and shoulders above the rest

in the meantime, a shepherd boy had God's attention and a heart after Him

nothing has changed

people rejected Jesus, in part, because He did not come with a sword in His hands to punish the Romans

in fact, the scriptures tell us He was despised and rejected and marred beyond all men

power and strength are with our God.

the Christian faith is rife with false teachers, so called prophets and self appointed apostles

if you follow them, you will receive their reward

if you follow what is true, a true prophet (in the proper sense of the word) you will receive a prophet's reward

even a king can eat grass if God is displeased

getting back to Hebrews, we stand with those who have gone before

this is not a new world; this is the same world wherein many have given their lives for the gospel..of Jesus

their testimony and their faith is a true encouragement to those who keep faith

Sorry I haven't read this thread, but I came across this verse
and it seemed to answer the question far better than I ever could.
Digest each word. :)

God is a good father, a good father disciplines his children.

Revelation 3:19-21 AMPC
[19] Those whom I dearly and tenderly love, I tell
their faults and convict and convince and reprove and
chasten I discipline and instruct them. So be enthusiastic
and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent changing
your mind and attitude.

I know you are not addressing me personally.
I must admit that I did think about saying "Successful ministry" because that is subjective to the criteria that someone believes is successful.

So I agree with you totally.
I think for me why I think it was successful is because I took over a failing youth group.
I built it up from about 20 to about 100.
This group I took from church focused only into the community.

So the focus for me was to provide an environment for kids to do the things they like.
Sports, eat tuck shop, watch a movie, day trips, weekends away, sleepovers and so on.

We also provided and environment for the kids to talk in private if needs be.

In fact at times I wouldn't let some children into the building because it wasn't safe for the rest but I would sit outside with them
I sat with kids who had cans of beer who would drink them in from of me, kids smoking dope, kids with anger issues. They actually felt safe and secure with me.

I had the privilege of just listening and hopefully allowing the wisdom of the HS to say the right things.

So to me the success is not the numbers but the opportunity to talk about Jesus with them.
I have had a few come to church and thank me for my understanding and love.
In fact a couple years later came to church and sought me out.

Some haven't But seeds were sown and hooefully at some point that will be harvested.

I am not saying the above to me make look good.
Just trying to convey what I think is successful.

And that is reaching out to people to hear the Gospel of Jesus and the privilege to plant seed to those willing to hear it.

I do get totally what you are saying though and I agree.
To me success is sowing for eternity rather than the temporal.
