When I was pagan literally like a wiccan I used to have dreams that would eventually come to pass. I wouldn't remember them until I had sort of a déjà vu feeling. When I accepted Christ they stopped. I don't believe in coincidence and I'm not saying that all those types of dreams are sinister but seems like they were for me. Food for thought...

soothsayers predict the future and Paul cast out a demon from one girl who was a soothsayer and got beaten for his troubles.

demons often make the dreams/nightmares come true to gain people's faith and trust in them as "angels" who come to tell them the "future"

Acts 16
[h=3][/h][SUP]16 [/SUP]Now it happened, as we went to prayer, that a certain slave girl possessed with a spirit of divination met us, who brought her masters much profit by fortune-telling. [SUP]17 [/SUP]This girl followed Paul and us, and cried out, saying, “These men are the servants of the Most High God, who proclaim to us the way of salvation.” [SUP]18 [/SUP]And this she did for many days.

But Paul, greatly annoyed, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And he came out that very hour. [SUP]19 [/SUP]But when her masters saw that their hope of profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace to the authorities.

I am not trying to interperate your dream per-say . It seems to have a fear of something, an obsticale, and a place to hide. I very seldom if ever have had a dream i felt was a great message from God, but often think about them. I would think about what you are afraid of ,what is blocking your escape ,what is pursuing you. God dose not have to give you an interp. all at once ,now just ask the lord to give you insight if it is him and let it go. Usually our dreams are a reflextion of some underlying thoughts in our life. maybe your relationship with the Father is not as close as you want it to be. Just my thoughts. God bless

what's your problem stephen?

you use The Oxford Group's (the Pentecostal Homeboys Crib) AA 'stinkin' thinkin' relating it to non-penetecostals' inability to Know the One True God through His revealed Spirit-breathed testimony of Himself, because that's got something to do jamming GOD into a BOX?

these stupid pressure tactics and mantras might work on your people to keep them from thinking critically.
personally i think it's disgraceful.

maybe Bill O would agree - i have no idea....i don't watch the nut.

.....

The Alcoholics Anonymous Cult - do not ever think for yourself:

Stinkin’ Thinkin’

A recovering alcoholic in AA has to be vigilant or risk relapse (That makes me wonder why they use the term “recovering” at all, as “recovery” is the logical conclusion of the process, but, in AA, the word has no logical conclusion; perhaps “remission” might be more honest?), and the first sign that one is headed “out” is Stinkin’ Thinkin’ or Stinkin’ Drinkin’ Thinkin’. Nip that in the bud.

In 1985, Gayle Rosellini published a 24-page tract through Hazelden called Stinking Thinking, in which she says, “Attitudes are either a path to healthy and happy recovery or the road to relapse. It’s that simple.” And she goes on to say,

Unfortunately, those of us who are recovering from chemical dependency too often suffer from what A.A. members call stinking thinking. Stinking thinking is a bad attitude. It’s being negative, blaming, and chronically dissatisfied. And it’s sneaky. […] Stinking thinking is a major symptom of chemical dependency. We all suffer from it at one time or another and it doesn’t go away with thirty days of treatment. It can dog our heels even when we’re sober – wrecking our recovery.

Since Rosellini published her tract, the telltale signs of Stinking Thinking have evolved beyond the four types she proposed, and the definition has become both more broad and more specific and detailed. Broadly, stinking thinking is explained well in this 12-Step Workshop handout:

Without the meetings and the fellowship, I’ll begin to think that the problem is anything other than Powerless. And, I’ll forget what the solution is… the 12 Steps… and come up with all sorts of solutions of my own. In A.A., we call that “stinking thinking” and as alcoholics, we cannot afford the luxury of “stinking thinking” because stinking thinking produces “stinking results.”

This highlights the kernel of stinking thinking, which is, essentially, any deviation from the program – and, while deviation might be the result of one’s own dumdum justifications for going back to drinking, it could also generate from one’s utter dissatisfaction with the program for any number of logical and sound reasons.

....

if there was something spiritual you intended to impart - why don't you tell me what it was?

Who... in... the... world... is the Oxford group? "Stinking thinking" is an old phrase is been around church circles in Kentucky as far back as I can remember. I have never read anything by the Oxford group. I checked all the books on my WordSearch program. I have nothing on them. I don't even know who you're talking about! This Rosellini woman, I don't know her! And I know absolutely nothing about Alcoholics Anonymous!

The statement about Bill O'Reilly was a joke........ sheesh!

The only part that I said and I meant was putting God in our carnal thinking box! When people strip the Scriptures of signs and wonders, dreams and visions, they end up with the God that's just a little higher than they are. As if the only thing that God can do is only give us understanding of what is written, nothing more. Note... The... Scripture!

John 21:24-25 [SUP]24 [/SUP]This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true. [SUP]25 [/SUP]And there are also many other things which Jesus did, the which, if they should be written every one, I suppose that even the world itself could not contain the books that should be written. Amen. Jesus did things that's not listed in the Bible.
John 14:12-14 [SUP]12 [/SUP]Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me,
the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. [SUP]13 [/SUP]And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. [SUP]14 [/SUP]If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

Many times I have read this, and I have never found a time limit set for 70 A.D. for the church!
Those of you that believe that Scripture alone is all we have now state that if it's not in Scripture, we shouldn't believe it. Yet they believe the gifts have ceased, and there is no Scripture that speaks of it! You can't have it both ways!!
Then, they tell us to look at the history of the church to prove that the gifts have ceased. What a crock of bull! When was the last time we look at Israel during its history to see how the church does things? They were a poor example, to say the least! And now, they want us to look at church history, that has all kinds of evil and failures in it, and use it against what the Word of God plainly says?

God's Word is true...... no matter what the church does. No matter what Israel does. Let God be true, and every man a liar!

Hey Trukin, I do believe that God gives HIS people dreams nowadays and I know HE has me learning about them and also the interpretation of them. I would gladly look at your dreams and see if the Lord gives understanding. Be blessed!

lol...Why is it people see Abiding as being defensive from his comments but me? I believe Trukin's question, in all honesty is a legitimate question. But to bringing it to a post forum, opens so many opinions that may or may not be biblical. I so understand what Abiding meant by asking if Trukin was pagan. Because if Trukin wants to use the story in saying how it is biblical, then he must be relating himself to the pagan who's dream was interpreted. I don't believe Abiding asking Trukin if he was pagan was meant as an insult. It was a question due to Trukin trying to use this passage of scripture in justifying his claim. I do believe as we try to relate scripture to something that we might feel is going on in our life, then we should also be able to relating to the characters as well.

and what i meant was it is the signs and wonders and 'gift' seeker crowd that puts God in a 'carnal thinking Box'.
since we added carnal, let's go all the way.

when you rely on the God-breathed scriptures there is less danger of jamming God into a 'carnal thinking Box'.

btw: what is "jamming God into a 'carnal thinking Box'?

what is a 'carnal thinking Box'?

it would take pages to explain the last 2 weeks of my life. unbelievable things happened
the power of God is SO evident, lifechanging and im still in shock. Not one miracle, not one
liver quiver, not one dream, vision, miracle etc....but wow just supernaturally natural.
Some want to say some just cant see the power of God because they dont chase
signs and wonders. I see Him, no problem. Right in the open. I wonder if some miss it if a bell
doesnt ring first.

We walk by faith and not by sight. And He does as He is pleased, no God-in-a-box attitude will stop Him.

Hi Truckin, Acts 2:17 So the only question is when is a dream to an older man from the Lord? For me brother, and I can only speak for me,is when that dream is confimed either in your heart or in life. Can a brother of sister have a gift in the Lord to tell you what a dream means?

Depending on how there words affect your life, sure bro.Another point is do they bear witness to Holy Spirit in you? Let me see if my words bear any witness to your Spirit in how I describe for you the meaning. You judge! For quite some time now, there has been things going on your jobsite that have caused you to be concerned over it.

You have not been able to put a finger on it yet,but you know something unseen is at work against you.You question this in yourself.( eph 4:27) Did I possibilty do this? The Tornado represents a storm you are presently in with the unseen force. You are looking to run into a strong place where you can find safety.( proverbs 18:10) yet through the retreat you are looking to make you still wish to know the reason for your running away? You are not a fearful man! SO!!! The Word says that a brother offended is harder to be won then a strong city.( proverbs 18:19) is this what you have done perhaps and are looking for the reward of such? I remember brother when I did such myself, and for a week I dreamed of one sometimes a lot of Tornadoes,in the middle of one of my dreams such as like your not as yours of course,Holy Spirit said from the tornado that I offended a brother, and to go make amends to him, even though I believed it was not my fault!

After doing this, the next night a tornado appeared but yet a great clearing could be seen! I was coming out of hiding, into the light Jesus provided me with. And did brother! I never had another dream of fearing again after this. The Lord reminded me of this scripture!Proverbs 18:19

Making peace with all men is sure not an easy task bro!!I know! But the reason we do these things is not for there sake but rather our sake! May this help and confirm your dream to the Glory Of God!! amen! My prayers are of course with you bro! Please do tell me is this bear witness or not to you.I, like all our brothers and sister am learning so much, and yet have so very much to learn!! Blessing bro!

i'm usually trying to get away from something thats chasing me, usually some kind of animal or beast. sometimes i'll kinda make my way to a high point, i.e. tree or roof top but sometimes i'll actualy take flight but it seems the higher i try to go, i'm impeded by a grid of electrical wiring like power lines but they're like criss crossed and the higher i go, the closer they get together and i'm afraid to go any higher. This type of dream shows that you are being pursued by evil spirits, but you know to look up and aim for a higher spiritual realm in which to seek refuge, where there is Great Power. This dream is given so that you can know to ASK GOD for His Higher Power with which to not only fight, but to have a more heavenly perspective so that you can fulfill the destiny that God has created you for. (Also ask Him "Why?" these things have a right to pursue you so that you can remedy that part of your spiritual life.)
another i have is about seeing tornado's. now, i've never been in one or even seen one in person, but i'll have a dream where a tornado, or sometimes several tornado's come extremely close to me. i never get caught up in one but like i said, they'll get uncomfortably close. i'll usually be hiding behind a wall or in a building and i will watch them pass but never get injured or whatever by them....i know this topic isn't a "bible study" topic but this is usually where i post....In dreams, the coloring of a tornado has relevance; dark tornados are metaphors for stormy/turbulent situations headed your way; Whitish colored tornados are metaphors for powerful moves of God, and although participation might be uncomfortable for a time, it is an awesome thing to be a part of. SO...if your tornados are dark, then God is showing you that there are troubled times ahead so that you can pray accordingly, asking for strategy as to how to 'weather the storm'. If they are of the whitish nature, then He is showing that He is about to do something BIG and Powerful and it is an invitation to get involved.
Hope this helps!
Maggie

i'm not sure of the actual color of the tornados...im thinking dark but also sometimes i notice the tornados (sometimes multiple) in the distance at first . here is one interpretation that a member emailed me....
your dreams are your pearls and they are holy given to by God, the part were you are rising in the heavens and finding obstacles, is your soul searching to rise to the presence of the Lord, the tornado's is your soul trying to overcome fear of the dangers of this world both are a conflict that your soul is searching to find the Agape of the Lord Jesus in your faith rising up to the heavens where their are complex power realms that you need the guidance of the Lord closer to navigate to His high places in the spirit with the conflict with the spiritual forces that threaten you in the spiritual realms on this earth. May the Lord Jesus and His omnipotent Agape bless you and draw you successfully to His place of your calling and the greatest experiences of His Agape for you.
your brother in His Omnipotent Agape.

Yea, I know what you mean there.....but obviously if someone has an inspired dream and they understand it without needing someone else to explain it to them.....they automatically interpret it. That's the way I'm looking at it. If you don't interpret it (Or have someone else interpret it for you like in the King of Babylon's case), you can't understand it.....and if you never get the understanding the dream was meant to convey, what would be the purpose to begin with? I know you weren't really for or against a particular point, just thought I'd put that out there
i dont know if the dreams were inspired or what but for them to be reoccurring was concerning to me. i had some ideas of what they possibly meant but i just wanted to see if i could get a second opinion, if you will

Hey, your the one who likes to open the can of worms as I recall. Frankly put, I think if we worry about dreams and their meanings it's stems from a lack of faith. If God wanted to tell you something, don't you think it would be a clear and precise method?
its got nothing to do with "lack of faith"....whatever

I don't know I use those type of dreams all the time. (But of course it had nothing to do with the fact that I just happened to have been watching those old B movies with Godzilla, giant spiders, scorpions, and dinosaurs or disaster movies during the day) Could it be a cause and effect type of thing? One needs to be careful of the source of the dream because many can from our own selves and are not from God.
that's got nothing to do with it....

Joel 2:28And it shall come to pass afterward, that I will pour out my spirit upon all flesh; and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, your old men shall dream dreams, your young men shall see visions:
Acts 2:17In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams
