Because I believe what the Bible plainly states even when it SEEMS to come into conflict with other things I believe.

So no reason ? That explains why your struggling to account for it . Where as from our vantage there is purpose and reason for Predestination and Election . We are explaining why Paul is saying what he is saying . There is something Paul wants them to know and its not arbitrary .Being told you are predestined to the Adoption is the basis for eternal security. The Holy Spirit guarantee s this by the sealing until the day of redemption. There is no assurance ultimately outside of this.
Please define convict. When you do, remember that your definition needs to make sense in the phrase “ convict the world of righteousness and judgement”, as well as Convict of sin.

If you can’t understand God’s mind or His purposes before Genesis 1:1, what are you doing telling us that He “decreed” certain things before Genesis 1:1?
Since salvation is broader than justification, it would be better to say that justification is by grace through faith (Rom 5:1). Faith would be meaningless unless God's grace brought salvation to mankind (Tit 2:11). And God's grace was made possible by the finished work of Christ.
