The warning was initially for his Disciples, but it has been relevant for every generation up until his second coming.
Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

I would offer ."This generation" in Mathew above is the generation of the last days . The phrase "last days" is used in that way 8 times in the Bible. The pivotal point. . The time of reformation had come. The shadows of the ceremonial law became substance, the vail was rent. signaling the lasts days this generation .The last generation under the Sun.

.1 John 2 marks the last days as the generation that will not pass until the end comes ,the last day.

Little children, it is the last time: and as ye have heard that antichrist shall come, even now are there many antichrists; whereby we know that it is the last time. They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, that they might be made manifest that they were not all of us.1 John 2: 18-19

Jude 17-19 King James Version (KJV) But, beloved, remember ye the words which were spoken before of the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ; How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit.

Matthew 24:6-8
6 And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.
7 For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places.
8 All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The problem is what time frame to put this in. Although many want to put its fulfillment around 70 A.D. there are problems:

1. Nation didn't rise against nation, Rome was in control.

2. Nor were there any pestilence and earthquakes, however there has been a slow buildup of these things the past couple of centuries.

3. None of the apostles here addressed were delivered up and hated of all nations after 70 A.D. because none of them were alive except John.
What does the number have to be to fulfill "wars and rumors of wars", how many earthquakes? There have always been wars and rumors of wars, there have always been earthquakes and pestilences. Nothing there gives any concrete timing for us.

Timing comes from verses like Matthew 24:32. When the branch is tender (putting forth new growth during the spring time), you know that SUMMER is NIGH.

Mat 24:32 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:

The key word in that verse is SUMMER. Jesus is BEGGING them and us to go to the Old Testament and FIND THE PROPHECY he's talking about... that will tell us when those events will take place.

Almost everything Jesus said related to prophecy is found in the Old Testament.

Esau wasn't judged, Esau was dead and had been dead for centuries. Esau REPRESENTS the flesh descendants of Israel.

Do you believe the heathen begin to drink upon the mountain of the Lord when Christ came the first time or is this something future?
Esau = Edom. Edom is the name of the nation given ti esau's family And they treated Israel badly becayse they were jealous

Jacob = Israel name given to the families of his 12 sons

I do not know where you get your information. But it is flawed.

I know who they literally are and I agree with what you say. I'm not talking about literal meanings, I'm talking about figurative meanings.

Jacob represents Israel BEFORE he was saved.
Esau represents the FIRST BORN (our flesh)
Jacob represents the SECOND BORN (our spirit born from above)

This is why you can't follow anything I say. To you everything is literal Esau or literal Jacob and MOST of the bible isn't written about either literal one of them.

That is not in scripture. That is something that someone made up. Thats why I can not follow you because there is nothing in scripture that says edom represents sinful Isreal. And Isreal represents the churhc.

The passage says the Edom treated Jacob bad when Jacob was overrun and Jerusalem was destroyed. ALl the things that the passage said Edom had done is historically proven and part of history.

This never happened to the church. So it has to be rejected as any representation of the church in this context.

We do not change the meaning of scripture. If you wish to. All the best to you.

If what you say is the true meaning, then when did Esau or Edomites drink upon God's holy mountain?

When was the holy mountain theirs?

When was it taken from them and given to the heathen?

When did the heathen "become as though they had not been"?
That literally means that the heathen BECAME God's people.

(Oba 1:16) For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been.

The mountain

You start out addressing "this generation" but focused on the phrase, "last days".

Jesus said, "this generation"; none of the three versions of the Olivet discourse has Him saying the "last days" or "last time". Therefore, the uses of those phrases aren't directly relevant for interpreting "this generation".

God never said he hated Esau, that is a mis-translation, the same one made where its said Jesus said we should hate our parents compared to him {or something akin to that....I don't feel like looking it up, but most know what I mean}

The word used there doesn't mean hate, it actually means LOVED LESS.............God loved Esau less than Jacob, or one could turn it around and just say this, God loved Jacob more than Esau.

Jacob was chosen.

It looks to me more like the heathen became as though they had never existed. Of course I could be wrong :) And hello :D

Hello Magenta good to hear from you.

What did they not exist as at one time but later became? God's people.

Gal 3:8 And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.

Is this verse mis-translated too?
Mal 1:3 And I hated Esau, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Yes, some who were previously unbelievers (such as myself) do become believers (such as myself) and are saved... we are justified through faith, this is true, yet those who remain in their sin/s (those who do not repent and believe) perish unto utter destruction, as if they had never been, and surely they will be completely forgotten.

That’s not found in scripture those are the views I can not agree with

prophecy must be taken literally. The vets that you posted actually happened

Edom is no more

If prophecy is not literally fulfilled then it is meaningless
anyone can prophesy and say their prophesy came true by using your form
Of interpretation. Nostodumus should teach you that
the passage said when they drank. When they went in while Israel was overrun by Babylon. It’s why god punished them

(Amo 5:18) Woe unto you that desire the day of the LORD! to what end is it for you? the day of the LORD is darkness, and not light.
(Amo 5:19) As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him.
(Amo 5:20) Shall not the day of the LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?

The day of the Lord is nothing but darkness, no light in it, just destruction and punishment. The second coming of Christ, the hope than is in all, how can the BRIGHTNESS of his coming be included in an event that God says is nothing but darkness and destruction?

It depends who you are.
Which side of a door is a door? The inside or the outside? Both.
The day of the lord is both terror to his enemies and delight to the saved. We are told about it many times.

Just three examples, there are more. I used the KJV because I know you don't trust anything else ;)

Isaiah 66:
14 When you see this, your heart shall rejoice,
And your bones shall flourish like grass;
The hand of the Lord shall be known to His servants,
And His indignation to His enemies.
15 For behold, the Lord will come with fire
And with His chariots, like a whirlwind,
To render His anger with fury,
And His rebuke with flames of fire.
16 For by fire and by His sword
The Lord will judge all flesh;
And the slain of the Lord shall be many.

Joel 3:
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision!
For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.
15 The sun and moon will grow dark,
And the stars will diminish their brightness.
16 The Lord also will roar from Zion,
And utter His voice from Jerusalem;
The heavens and earth will shake;
But the Lord will be a shelter for His people,
And the strength of the children of Israel.

Nahum 1:
6 Who can stand before His indignation?
And who can endure the fierceness of His anger?
His fury is poured out like fire,
And the rocks are thrown down by Him.
7
The Lord is good,
A stronghold in the day of trouble;
And He knows those who trust in Him.
8 But with an overflowing flood
He will make an utter end of its place,
And darkness will pursue His enemies.

No

wars and rumors of wars is the beginning but the end is not yet come

THEN there will be great tribulation

i fear you take this lightly, if it comes, it will be like nothing the world has seen, and if you do not take it for what it is, it will overwhelm you
The time of the reformation as the beginning of the last days is something the world has not seen before.

Jesus will come when least expected like a theif in the night on the last day

The wars and rumors is simply the everyday wrath of God being revealed from heaven. The great tribulation is spiritual. Is not literal flesh and blood wrestling against flesh and blood. .Not political nation against the politics of another.

One demonstration was all that was promised. We walk by faith the unseen eternal.

Up till "To this time" in Mathew below it was the pivotal timing of this generation. The generation of the last days or the latter day spoken of by Job.

Mathew 24:21-22 For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world "to this time", no, nor ever shall be. And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

The days are shorted called the last days.

Isaiah 2:2 In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and all nations will stream to it.

last days "the generation" that will not pass away till all things are fulfilled. The time of great spiritual tribulation like never before.

Hosea 3:5 Afterward the Israelites will return and seek the Lord their God and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to his blessings in the last days.

Micah 4:1 [ The Mountain of the Lord ] In the last days the mountain of the Lord’s temple will be established as the highest of the mountains; it will be exalted above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.

Acts 2:17‘In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

2 Timothy 3:1But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.

Hebrews 1:2but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.

James 5:3Your gold and silver are corroded. Their corrosion will testify against you and eat your flesh like fire. You have hoarded wealth in the last days.

2 Peter 3:3Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires.
