Paul said this to the church at Rome

Romans 14

Accept the one whose faith is weak, without quarreling over disputable matters.2 One person’s faith allows them to eat anything, but another, whose faith is weak, eats only vegetables. 3 The one who eats everything must not treat with contempt the one who does not, and the one who does not eat everything must not judge the one who does, for God has accepted them. 4 Who are you to judge someone else’s servant? To their own master, servants stand or fall. And they will stand, for the Lord is able to make them stand.
5 One person considers one day more sacred than another; another considers every day alike. Each of them should be fully convinced in their own mind. 6 Whoever regards one day as special does so to the Lord. Whoever eats meat does so to the Lord, for they give thanks to God; and whoever abstains does so to the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives for ourselves alone, and none of us dies for ourselves alone. 8 If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord. 9 For this very reason, Christ died and returned to life so that he might be the Lord of both the dead and the living.

If the Sabbath was still binding on the Gentiles this is where he would have done so but HE SAYS the above. It was the perfect place for him to lay out the Sabbath requirements YET HE DOES NO SUCH THING.
IF, a big if, Paul was talking about Sabbath in this passage what does it teach you?
Why would you judge those who observe Sabbath with disputable matters like internet use in the first place?
What was your intention?

I am NT believer but this verse has nothing to do with the Jewish sabbath . The chapter deals with and fasting days .

Please research It

thankies :)

Where does it say fasting in there? There is not one word that says fasting. It does say observing a day. Is observing the Sabbath observing a day or not?

And not judging goes both ways, which is what this is about when one says that salvation is dependent on observing the Sabbath.
Hmmm, what does it mean to fast?

Rom 14:6 He that regardeth the day, regardeth it unto the Lord; and he that regardeth not the day, to the Lord he doth not regard it. He that eateth, eateth to the Lord, for he giveth God thanks; and he that eateth not, to the Lord he eateth not, and giveth God thanks.

There are two Greek words there for "he that eateth not"

he that eateth not,G2068 G3361

G2068
ἐσθίω
esthiō
Thayer Definition:
1) to eat
2) to eat (consume) a thing
2a) to take food, eat a meal
3) metaphorically to devour, consume
Part of Speech: verb
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: strengthened for a primary edo (to eat); used only in certain tenses, the rest being supplied by G5315
Citing in TDNT: 2:689, 262

G3361
μή
mē
Thayer Definition:
1) no, not lest
Part of Speech: particle
A Related Word by Thayer’s/Strong’s Number: a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas G3756 expresses an absolute denial)

Seems the words here "he that eateth not" have to do with not eating.

From the Cambridge dictionary...

English definition of “fast”

fast
/fæst/ v (NOT EAT)

› to have a period of time when you eat no food: We will be fasting until sundown tomorrow.

fast /fæst/ n [C] › They organized a fast to draw attention to the issue of hunger.

Greg King was correct.

Leviticus 25:4 (KJV)
[SUP]4 [/SUP]But in the seventh year shall be a Sabbath of rest unto the land, a Sabbath for the LORD: thou shalt neither sow thy field, nor prune thy vineyard.

This is perfect example of the Sabbath being observed correctly. This gives the land time to incorporate the nutrients given to it during the previous 6 years. All vegetation plowed under becomes part of the original soil. One can take into consideration the parable of the sower and the seed. Resting on what the soil has become in those 6 years enriches it. Even some seeds from previous years will germinate, but are not to be harvested or eaten. The beginning of the next year I am letting my garden rest as the law says. The reason I do this is not just because it's the law. I we continue to do this because as in years past, and at the beginning of the next 6 years, I have never had a better garden than the first year after the Sabbath year. I have had broccoli heads 12 to 16 inches in diameter, and tomatoes that weighed 2 pounds. Granted, the soil needs refuse, garbage, and compost, and they all stink. All of that becomes soil in the end, and then is fit to receive the seed of truth, and produce 50 or 100 fold. But isn't this parable the way life really is? Even so, observing a Sabbath, whether years or days, gives one the right heart toward God, and is to our benefit in His sight.

Isaiah 56:1-2 (KJV)
[SUP]1 [/SUP]Thus saith the LORD, Keep ye judgment, and do justice: for my salvation is near to come, and my righteousness to be revealed.
[SUP]2 [/SUP]Blessed is the man that doeth this, and the son of man that layeth hold on it; that keepeth the sabbath from polluting it, and keepeth his hand from doing any evil.
Mark 2:27-28 (KJV)
[SUP]27 [/SUP]And he said unto them, The sabbath was made for man, and not man for the sabbath:
[SUP]28 [/SUP]Therefore the Son of man is Lord also of the sabbath.
You don’t plow in the crap of the world on the Sabbath. Let your heart rest, and take advantage of this that is given, rather than dispute about it adding more refuse to the subject at hand.

The Sabbath rest is not over! it is spiritually fulfilled in Jesus, and in us if we believe. Heb. He that has entered into rest has ceased from his own works as God did from his. An example of exceeding the law is to commit adultery ,Jesus says to even look on a woman with lust in his heart has already committed adultery with her. If we do not rest in Gods Sabbath every day we have not ceased from our own works which are filthy rags! Why is it so hard for some to rest in Gods work, complete works everyday??? This is salvation, this is the gospel. Exodus 16:4 clearly says God set the one day a week Sabbath to prove the Israelite s whether they would obey him or not. And serves as a shadow of things to come. The permanent rest in Christ. Nobody answered my question earlier if Exodus 16:4.... is the first time the One day a week Sabbath is mentioned, I think it is ,but want to be sure does anybody Know??

What were they a sign of? they were a sign of rest ,of resting in Gods works done for them. their deliverance from Egypt ,of the cloths not wearing out ,of manna, of meat in the wilderness, of water from the rock, this is what the Sabbath was a sign of. and we still have the Sabbath . To cease from our own works. Heb. 4 clearly states this " there was left a rest to enter into by faith. As you said ,to know that "I am Yahweh ( Jesus)who sanctifies you and makes you holy" Which the Israelite s miserably failed at through unbelief.

Hello Weakness. In Genesis the following is in Chapter 2....Gen 2:3
And God blessed the seventh day, and hallowed it; because that in it he rested from all his work which God had created and made.

For the moment, the best I can answer is that when God hallowed the seventh day, this would be making it separate for all who believe Him, although nothing here is mentioned as to how to honor that day, it seems by illimination it would be a day to separate from the working days, ergo a day of rest. Again for now this is the best I am able to convey for now. There is said to have been oral tradition before Moses wrote down what was given him by God.

Please forgive my not replying to the original post, but I thought to leave it to people better versed than I. I did read your post, and I feel bad not to have already attempted. God bless you greatly always, amen.

I must have overlooked your question, my apologies. Is the Sabbath mentioned prior to Ex 16? Yes, it is.

Gen 2:1 Thus the heavens and the earth, and all the host of them, were finished.
Gen 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended His work which He had done, and He rested on the seventh day from all His work which He had done.
Gen 2:3 Then God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it, because in it He rested from all His work which God had created and made.

The usual squawk is, that really doesn't mean or refer to the Sabbath. Aw, but it does and it is verified here...

Exo 20:8 Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Exo 20:9 Six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work:
Exo 20:10 But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates:
Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

What does the word "wherefore" mean?

Webster's:

Where´fore
adv. & con 1.
1. For which reason; so; - used relatively.
Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
- Matt. vii. 20.
2. For what reason; why; - used interrogatively.
But wherefore that I tell my tale.
- Chaucer.
Wherefore didst thou doubt?
- Matt. xiv. 31.
n. 1. the reason why.

So, subsitituting;

Exo 20:11 For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: for which reason the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

So, the Sabbath is referred to in Gen 2:1-3

you and babylon say it is over or changed, Yahweh or Yahshua never say this one single time, just the oppisite, they say it will never change:

Luke 16:17, "But it is easier for heaven and earth to pass, than one yodh of the Law to fail."

however evil will make the masses think it has been changed:

Daniyl 7:25, "And he will speak great words against Yahweh, and will wear out; mentally attack to cause to fall away, the saints of Yahweh, and think to change times and Laws..."

"Times" is word # 2166 - Hebrew Word Study (Transliteration-Pronunciation Etymology & Grammar - 1) a set time, time, season
The Law of Moses was done away in Christ!

Colossians 2:14-23. Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross; And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it. Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ. Let no man beguile you of your reward in a voluntary humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into those things which he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his fleshly mind, And not holding the Head, from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered, and knit together, increaseth with the increase of God. Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances, (Touch not; taste not; handle not; Which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men? Which things have indeed a shew of wisdom in will worship, and humility, and neglecting of the body; not in any honour to the satisfying of the flesh.

Paul here is addressing asceticism. Will worship after the commandments and doctrines of men and the rudiments of the world. This passage is not about the Law of God.

Exodus 16:23 was the first mention of the Sabbath given as an ordinance for the Children of Israel.

What do you think the handwritting of ordinances were that was against them?

Ephesians 2:15-16 Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby:

Exodus 16:23 was the first mention of the Sabbath given as an ordinance for the Children of Israel.
Thank you! doesn't vs,5 say that on the sixth day to prepare and not to go to collect on the seventh. And in vs 4 it is said ,this was to prove them? whether they will walk in my law?
