Then again your preachers have lied to you.

John 9

31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.

,... Hears not sinners...{those continuing in sin without repentance} if he is a worshiper of God and DOES his WILL he hears him.

If the OP is living the gay lifestyle he is not doing the WILL of God !!

Hello I have been attending church on an off al my life but recently every Sunday plus bible studies mid week and other weekend convenctions for about 5 years, however I am also gay I know what the bible says about this, but I love going to church and reading the bible. I recently told the pastor I was gay I didn't want to mislead the church, I wanted to be honest so they accepted me for who I am not who they think I am. He told me I could no longer be a member or have any leaderships rolls in the church I understand and accept all that how ever one comment he made upset me and now I never want to go back to church the comment was being gay is no different to people who sleep around. I have never done that, you don't have to be gay to sleep around. my question is this normal reaction, Will I find a church that is wiling to accept me knowing I am gay?

Try the Uniting Church mate.

Christian life doesn't begin and end with American-Style Evangelical Sing a long churches.

well you'll have to clarify what you mean by when you say you are gay.

are you someone who wants acceptance for their lifestyle and sees no problem with it, then obviously churches are going to have perfectly normal opposition to it.

if you are not living an active gay lifestyle but trying to change then why identify yourself as gay.

Obviously he thinks exclusively about sex with males, and doesn't harbour attraction to women.

I think you know if you are Gay.

ok but I don't see why he has to mention it if he isn't practicing the lifestyle, it shouldn't be something he identifies with as a christian if he's trying to be celibate

Do you identify with being attracted to women, whether you're sleeping with one or not?

I've never felt the need to go to my pastor and declare I am interested in women no or would ever refer to myself as a "hetero christian"

Being gay and christian are incompatiable so there is no reason to call yourself a "gay christian" that implies you identify as being gay and are proud of it.

If he is not any any relationship or intending to pursue one, then who he's interested in doesn't need any mentioning of.

It does require mentioning when so many Christians incite that just being attracted to the same sex is a sin, which it isn't. The act of having intercourse with, not attraction to, a member of the same sex is what is cited as sin in the bible.

Lust is sin in the Bible. If you burn with lust for the opposite or same sex, without having sexual contact, you are still sinning.

The point is, even with your view, the man clearly feels he has to disclose and talk about his being attracted to men. That was why I wrote the post you just replied to. Sc81 said the OP had no need to disclose that he is attracted to men, and I felt that he did in fact have a reason because many Christians say that simply being attracted to the same sex is a sin (which, biblically, isn't true). Mere attraction to the opposite sex or the same sex also isn't the same thing as 'lust'.

The point I'd like to settle for the man is that being attracted to the same sex is no sin in and of itself, and yes, he did need to disclose it (or so he felt) as so many Christians incite that attraction to the same sex is as bad as sleeping with thesame sex. The practical advice for the OP (from a biblical perspetive) therefore seems to be; it's okay to be attracted to the same sex as long as you don't act on it nor let it get as intense as lust.

It is my belief that lust is simply part of the sexual drive humans are endowed with. If men did not lust there would probably be no babies.

Why do you profess to believe in the bible's instructions when you make the choice to cherry pick verses about being against homosexuality and choose to ignore the instructions to murder adulteresses, which are found in the same book?.
A very good point Human, of course another one, I think, is that Jesus does not mention homosexuality. Perhaps you or someone else has already mention that? I suspect as a good Jew, Jesus would not approve, but at the same time he seems not to care enough about the issue to talk about it. Or perhaps it is the authors of the other books of the New Testament who didn't care to mention it?

I'm wondering how would you define lust? No sarcasm intended.

Jesus did mention homosexuality.Last time I checked God and Jesus are one in the same. The NT also condemns homosexuality.

what you just said was "GOD, make people love me for my choice of same sex relationships in which YOU despise". Are you for real? Confusion only comes from one source..and wow...satan is laughing now. YOU were not created for someone's lustful pleasure of the same sex. GOD is NOT to blame...No, HE did not make your thyroid gland a different size. NO, HE did not make you to enjoy sodomy and all that is entailed in the physical sexual encounters with someone having the same sexual organs as you. However, you can be delivered by the Holy Spirit. Ever hear of Dennis Jernigan? He was a very outspoken gay activists, turned CHRISTIAN now, married with 7 children, writing, touring and performing some of the greatest gospel praise songs out there today.

Ever here of Sodomy and Gomorrah ..they sure had a gay time there .. no sorry...I mean God has a word for this..abomination...

Ro 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
Ro 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

THE GOOD NEWS IS GOD through Jesus Christ can heal you .... ever heard the song..if you want to be someone else change your mind.....by his Spirit (if you recieve it..acts 2 v 4...acts 2 v 38 etc ) he will give you the mind of Christ as you choose..he does this not self will nor psycho nonsense..he does it for you..free...!

The question is...are you actively engaging in homosexual activity? If you are then you are actively engaged in sin. If you are not....KEEP UP THE GOOD FIGHT....and don't let people discourage you from being victorious in Jesus.

Yes you will - but that doesn't mean that congregation is right.

The point that Pastor was trying to make is that any sexual desire (not just practise) out side of a marriage relationship (between one man and one woman) is sinful. Now, I don't know how he said what he said, and I am grieved if he lacked grace but he was right.
