Then there is no way you would agree to allow one, who is a professing brother in Christ and a practicing gay, attend the assembly of believers.
Then there is no way you've read anything I've posted in this thread.
I do believe you're confusing me with someone else.

I want to clarify in case it wasn't clear that I do believe all should be welcome into the church to hear the word of God but but not to parade their lifestyle of sin. Also we have to remember there is a difference between being gay and struggling with gay thoughts.

I will not pretend anymore to understand why but Adonai has drawn the line in the Sand and not me (us).
Of all that is sin he has chosen a few that are exceedingly wicked to him. This being one of them.
We are called to preach the gospel but is this casting pearl before swine?
Is there such a deep rooted spiritual perversion that the Lord has declared it reprobate?
I'm not speaking in judgement but am making a observation. In the days of old the Lord has sent Israel to destroy certain tribes and nation's. We are not asked to pick up the sword of steel but of truth. Satan was cast down because of his pride.
Are we dealing with a remnant of a certain tribes of days past?
I know this seems far fetched but we fight not against flesh and blood but againts spiritual wickedness, evil of high levels.
If God does not compromise should we? Jesus is knocking at the door but also the gate we enter is straight and narrow.

Tell that to Jesus. Even when the most sinful of people came he always welcomed with open arms to all who would listen, he didn't banish or prevent anyone who came to him, it was because he had open arms to all who would listen that so many who lived in deep sin came to the light. The word of God and the message of the cross is for all to have freely not to be coveted for the flock only
either you misunderstand or want to hide your head in the sand

you do not allow people with this lifestyle to infiltrate your church and participate

what do you suppose overseer means when you read it in scripture?

I never said anything about not witnessing or allowing homosexuals into the church

perhaps understand that Jesus did not refuse any who turned to Him, but that is not what is being discussed

heads up...don't confuse these issues because that is what some people hope believers will do

Could that be any more obvious than, of course gotta love the classification that forewarns the astute viewer, "reality TV"?
It's like pro-wrestling wasn't bad enough so as to be fake, yet requiring true stamina and athleticism, while being entirely scripted. Now we have people "living" their lives so that other people can be their voyeurs.

And in the process make the watched one's rich for what they freely demonstrate first as a willingness to sign on the contract that says, everything they do that's recorded will be edited to produce maximum dramatic somatic responses in the demographic their particular show is programmed to provoke.
That's why when I attended that TV exec's funeral, the one I mentioned, I had my own custom made bumper sticker on the back of my classic Camaro. On one side was the identical TV that was on his. And on the other were the words, "SHOOT YOUR TELEVISION!READ A BOOK!"
He'd have appreciated the humor. :giggle: I know that because at the memorial in his small home town there was the hearse, and behind it was a tiny local company, that his cousin owned, moving van. Across the back was a banner he'd ordered when he knew the end was really near that read: "TAKING IT WITH ME!"

I rolled all the way to the ocean where we released his ashes.
A hearse carrying an urn. Gotta love that. Why? Because he could afford it. :p Funny till the day he died and beyond.
God bless and rest him to peace.
I cannot stand reality tv

I like my tv completely fake

except for the nature shows...but even those are hours of editing to get the desired outcome

classic Camaro, eh? nice ride

An openly practicing homosexual is the head of the United Church (of Canada), and they do ordain gay people...

Rev. Gary Paterson of St Andrew’s-Wesley United Church in downtown Vancouver was elected from a field of 15 nominees on August 16 (2012) to become the first openly homosexual leader of a major Christian denomination in Canada.

Paterson was one of three openly homosexual candidates for the moderator’s job...

Paterson acknowledged that his open homosexuality and same-sex “marriage” to Rev Tim Stevenson, another United Church minister, as well as the fact that he has three daughters from his first marriage, would be seen by many to be “problematic,” but added that his sexual orientation was a non-issue to the voting members at the United Church General Council. https://www.lifesitenews.com/news/u...irst-openly-gay-leader-of-a-major-christian-d

In 1992, Tim Stevenson became the first openly gay man to be ordained as a minister by the United Church.

huh

I looked up the United church and they said they don't ordain homosexuals

I was actually surprised though because I thought they did...I thought I had heard that...prob when I was still in Canada

The Bible speaks against judgong a matter before you ear it. So I will not judge the video because I have not watched it.

On 'gay stuff'.. It seems in the LGBT movement and with Gen Y 'gay' means someone attracted to the same sex. Christians need to realize tgat before saying gays go to Hell. Same sex action is something that ccurs as a result of the sin of mankind in a fallen world. But one could e tempted with this without sinning, just as many young men have to overcome the temptation to look at women with lust.

The LGBT crowd including apoligeticists for it who arry the label 'Christian' seem to be operating under the premise that lust justidy sin. Even if someone were born with an inclination toward certain sins, the lust does not justify the sin.

the above is a link to a gay-welcoming Church.

I post it neither as an endorsement nor the opposite.

I think somewhere in the Gospels it talks about it's not good to judge a person before you hear what he has to say.

the preacher was saying something about wanting the people in the congregation to hear something from God that morning.

something I heard that I'd never thought of before was that apparently in UCC churches, probably other liturgical churches such as Catholic or Episcopal, the book they read the gospel out of is left open after the reading.
he talks about this at about 33:45
he says that the symbolizes that God is still speaking to his people. an interesting thought, I thought.
what a joke and to be honest it is sicking. They have perverted the rainbow and taken it out of context from the word of God as GOD said what the rainbow stands for. This is a PC form of godliness but deny the power thereof. does anyone here those in church say

welcome :
Drunks, hookers, addicted, thieves etc.... NO, because the church is a place for people with sin, not a place to identify with sin. The church is a place to be set free from sin, not a place to celebrate a sin.

Yes indeed. I love nature shows but I can't watch for long. They always have to feature lovely adorable animals and then edit so that our hearts get broken as that same cutie pie gets their throat ripped out.
The last show I watched was in the Wildebeest's. The crossing of the river full of croc's. I surfed in just as the narrator is talking about how this mama Wilde was looking for her baby to see if they'd made it to shore having crossed before her. THe treacherous journey requiring great loads of energy some Wilde's die of exhaustion when reaching the muddy shore. There she is looking across the way , swimming, crying out. And this huge croc comes up out of nowhere and grabs her in the middle. She's still calling. He brings her down under the water. I'm crying, she bobs back up crying, looking across at the shore for her baby. Croc brings her down again. I cry more. She bob's up, fighting to see her baby one last time. The croc finally brings her down forever.
Then the camera pans to this baby Wilde, and of course you don't know if they're hers. The baby looks dead, its head folded back on its neck. Then its ears quiver and it starts awake and stands.
"He will never see his mother again."
I'm balling like a baby because of course there's that heartbreak drama music playing with the scenes.
I keep hearing my buddy as I write this. "Why do you think we call it programming?"
That kind of TV BS editing makes us emotionally vulnerable.
That's why we see so many examples of moron adults making news as they charge their child's sports field and attack the umpire or referee in a rage due to their opinion of a bad call. Violence on small and large screen desensitizes and influences susceptible minds.
And then they get triggered and act out.
It's so effective the programming now that the U.S Military tests possible recruits acumen on the battle field using first person shooter games made exclusively for that branch of the military.

I have a friend who's co-worker bragged not that long ago about their son going into the service as a sniper. They were so happy as they exclaimed that it looks like those 8 hour days of their kid playing first person shooter games paid a benefit.

by participate, meaning they 'affirm' their gay couples. they are accepted and in fact seems encouraged alos

but watch some of the vid. about 10 mins or so in...and the song about the rainbow

this is not witnessing to homosexuals or exposing them to the gospel. more like praising their lifestyle

if I came across too harsh...I'm sorry...

oh the wildebeasts. and the crocs. brutal. they had a funny advert on tv about that very thing. 2 wildees are talking and at the end of the convo, one goes he is taking the bridge...camera pans to a bridge across the croc infested water...good idea goes the other one (something like that...funnier when viewed)

I have long said, regarding the news, they have misnamed it. it should be the 'bad news' as there ain't no good news or almost never

I'm getting triggered these days and I have a high tolerance. we don't have politics as the Roman games up in Canada and honestly, I'm shell shocked. my husband goes 'well don't watch it' duh

yeah...babies left behind...will never see his mother again. and polar bears. and shooting wolves from planes (I have some wolfdogs so that one really gets me)

I am also wondering how much longer until someone starts shooting at the next dem that goes bizerkers at at GOP member or even someone wearing a pro Trump cap. any bets? (kidding)

I am not sure if this is the verse you may have been thinking of or not but it is a little different from what you are talking about...

Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier, and who himself was one of them, asked,51“Does our law convict a man without first hearing from him to determine what he has done?”

John 7:50-51

These verses speak on hearing someone out first but it is in the context of a court of law or legal matters.

Now Jesus has said " Judge not lest you be judged" and " do unto others as you would have them do unto you". If we would want others to hear us out and listen to our side of the story instead of making assumptions then we ought to do the same for them. When you do to others as you would want them to do to you, you are following what is known as the golden rule.

I have listened to some of this video and I think it is good to welcome all but it appears that they are encouraging and supporting gay marriage and the like so I do not agree with it. Seek to be discerning in who you listen to for a pastor. By getting in the bible yourself and being with other Christians and talking with them it can help. Unless you know what the bible says, you will not be able to see what teaching is in line with Scripture and what is not.

 I know the Wilde commercial you're talking about. It's great. "I'm thinking about taking that bridge."
At least they don't show any croc's catching their friends during the crossing.

I use to think that probably every generation since the invention of radio and TV said the same thing I have. The world's going to Hell faster now than ever before.
And I figured that would have been the case because of all the new technology and social more's that changed or arrived every generation since the invent of radio & TV. Boy was I wrong. I met a woman at the laundry that was 104. No kidding. You gotta talk to someone who's over a century old. Ya know?
We got to talking about society's woes and politics. I told her my thoughts about every generation saying the same thing. Not in the least.

In her generation when she was but a child the changes were spectacular and positive for society. The telephone, the car, that you could buy from Mr. Ford in any color....as long as the color of choice was black.
Sure, it got dicey with the civil rights stuff and what with the not that long removed history of slavery. Though free blacks did fight for the north. But it was nothing like today, she said.
Never would a parent bring a suit against a school so that her little boy could pretend to be a girl and have access to all the girl facilities there. Gay marriage wasn't even imagined because in her day being gay was being happy go lucky and thrilled with life.
One didn't sue the baker because he refused to make a cake for personal reasons. One simply baked their own. Or went to another baker if the town was big enough.

I loved this part. No, she said, today's world of people are turning back into babies. A new century and we're not moving forward. We're moving into boxes, playpens, so we can whine and scream until someone gives us our pacifier of choice. And what do you mean there's no constitutional right guaranteeing we're not to be offended by someone else's beliefs?
Warning, whiner on board! Don't say something that may upset me. It could stunt my growth.

Oh, this woman was great. Then she said that today's newborn, that one brought into the world precisely at that moment, likely would never see 104 years of age. At least not as a mature independent free thinking self sustaining American.

One nation under a thumb.
That's the new American dream. Give it to me! So I don't have to think.

Love her. May she live another 104 just to be the perfect example of what America use to be.

The wolf killings really irk me. I'm glad I don't live in those zones or I'd likely camouflage and do some ground to air wolf-defense with a high powered rifle.
The rancher idiots are the real tisser. THEY'RE WOLVES! What ? You put an all you can eat walk through in their territory where they lived first and then get mad that they come to eat? Mutton anyone? Beef? Here you go.

It would be like someone bringing a Wendy's to a starving village in sub-Saharan Africa and getting all bent out of shape because they're robbed for their food regularly. They're starving! And your address has food. What's the big surprise?

I met a wolf hybrid once. North Carolina wolfie.
Enormous! He was 99%, near as you can get to full wolf. His dad bred wolf-hybrids to any percent anyone wanted. But he had a veterinarian that would work the paperwork so as to make the higher blood line within the legal limits for high wolf percentages.
I was so enthralled. This wolf was a big puppy. And all his mates at the dad's property howled when I walked in.
I felt right at home.

>>>I think somewhere in the Gospels it talks about it's not good to judge a person before you hear what he has to say. <<<

It's really a shame that Eve didn't judge the serpent before she listened to him. We sure could have avoided a passel of trouble. And "I think . . ." Really? "I know" is what I look for on a Christian message board as we have the Word of God to do our thinking for us.

As to the video . . . no thanks.
Thanks for stopping by the thread!

I suppose I'm not getting the point here. Am I supposed to listen to every gay person before I "judge" them?
If so why only gay people?
If that's not the point then what is?
And what about gay people are we supposed to halt our "judgement" for? Are they going to have some story which excuses their sin, and if I don't hear their story I'll be unfairly "judging" them?
And, again, why is this only about gay people?
And who has determined that anyone is "judging"? No doubt some do, but not all are.
And what are you qualifying as "judging" exactly? This notion of judging you presented is so broad and indirect it could be made to be numerous things, none of which may be your intention.
Where does the bible say to listen to ones story before judging them? You made the claim, it falls on you to back it up and provide the scripture. If you are unable then the very foundation of your post has already failed, and with it goes the rest.

I'm not going to be judging any homosexuals. I haven't with ones I've dealt with in the past, and see no need to start now. That doesn't mean I agree, support or approve of that lifestyle, it just means I treat them the same as all the other sinners I deal with. Which is everyone.
And I don't need to listen to their story to do so.
The point was simply that I think it's wise to hear from a person, from themselves, before forming an opinion about them.

So this was an opportunity. Form whatever judgment or opinion you feel led of God to form!

Lets start an "adultery welcoming church". Anyone?

No?
Gay welcoming was simply a shorthand way of saying a church which regards the Bible as having been written in a particular culture and needing to be translated from one culture to another as well as from one language to another.

a church or person who wishes to regard the scriptures as having been written much as an instruction manual for all time and all placesis fine as long as they're willing to do strict readings of things like about women's role in the church as well
