Most gun usage is for the sole purpose of liberating, protecting and saving lives.
Guns were used to liberate the slaves in the US. They were used when the US rescued the world from fascism. Our founding fathers used guns to liberate the themselves from the tyranny of an oppressive government, which is the reason it is important that free people must maintain the right to own guns.

We never hear of the thousands upon thousands of lives that are saved by the mere sight of a gun.
Only mass murder stories make the headlines of the propaganda machine.

Bless your heart! I don't expect anyone in any other country to truly understand these basic truths. Only in America can liberty and it's price be understood.

The same way American soldiers have done in every engagement from the Civil War to the current engagement in Afghanistan. In the same way police officers do every day. In the same way Nichole Simpson could have, were it not for the seven day waiting law.

As might be expected, the gun debate brings about some sober ideas with plenty of extreme views on each side of the issue.

It doesn't make sense to suggest that we should just do more to keep weapons out of the hands of the mentally ill, as some of my neighbors have suggested. There are just too many mentally ill people who have not been diagnosed as such and already have access to weapons. Furthermore, there are a lot of so-called sane people with weapons who snap in an instant.

That having been said, we just have to face the fact there's going to be some unfortunate gun related deaths. The best we can do is minimize the loss of lives. So it just makes sense to get rid of the assault weapons and high-capacity magazines. It also makes sense to make sure there are proper background checks for purchases of guns.

I believe an individuals right to feel comfortable going out in public is more important than someone's right to shoot off a thousand rounds in a minute. Minimizing the carnage brought about by some psycho is more important than someone having fun with weapons of war.

Yes Jesus is our protection, but what about those who are not yet saved
Who is their protection?

If one is more focused on themselves and their own salvation when they are already saved, they are still feeding on milk,
It's time for meat.

Both are my protection. Jesus is the ultimate protection, but I don't believe it to be wrong to have a weapon as protection as well. If not for myself, for my family. When I have a child and we're in trouble and I have a choice between shooting the attacker or not, I will have no problem picking up a gun to protect my family.
