Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.
When we confess Christ and are saved we seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness then God will supply our needs food and clothing.
Act 10:34 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons:
Act 10:35 But in every nation he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.
Those who work righteousness is accepted with God.
So while the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us we have to work righteousness to be accepted with God.
Rom 6:16 Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?
Rom 6:17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.
Rom 6:18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.
We are servants of righteousness so we actively have to pursue and do righteousness.
1Jn 3:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God.
1Jn 3:10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Whoever does not do righteousness is not of God.
Righteousness to be active in our life has to be an act of doing good.
Some people like to make the excuse the righteousness of Christ is imputed to them and say their lifestyle does not matter too much but righteousness has to be an act to be active in their life.
It is like some people say they do not have to do works for we are saved by faith but charity, love in action, is greater than faith and love can only be done in works for it to be active in our life which James said faith without works is dead, and a person is justified by works and not faith alone.
And John said do not love in word, neither in tongue, but in deeds and in truth.
When we first confess Christ and are saved the righteousness of Christ is imputed to us.
And then we have to work righteousness to have it active in our life for we are now led of the Spirit.
When we have faith and confess Christ we are saved.
And then we have to have works of love to have faith active in our life for we are led of the Spirit now.
But some people do not actively do righteousness and works of love and think they are alright.
If anyone has the Holy Ghost (who is obtained through faith alone in Jesus Christ) then the Holy Ghost will motivate them to be obedient.
But their salvation is not dependent on their perfomance (Romans 4:1-8, Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:4-7, Romans 11:5-6).
The love of the Lord is shed abroad in the hearts of all those who are truly born again (Romans 5:5).
And this love is not impractical (1 John 3:17-18).
Salvation, however, is a free gift (Romans 5:15-17). Righteousness is a gift that is given to us by God (Romans 5:17).
We do what is righteous because we are righteous.
We are not righteous because we do what is righteous.
People can do righreousness at some times and yet practice iniquity on the side (see Matthew 7:21-23).
If someone has received the gift of righteousness, they will consistently practice righteousness; the Lord will
cause them to walk in His statutes and in His judgments (Ezekiel 36:27, Philippians 2:13).
They do what is righteous because it is in their nature;
Not because they feel that they have to do righteousness in order to maintain their salvation.
If you do what is righteous in order to maintain your salvation, you may not actually have salvation.
You should do righteousness because it is in your nature to do so; because you have been born again.
