Hell in the OT is translated into different words.

Strong’s Concordance H7585

sheh-ole', sheh-ole'
From H7592; hades or the world of the dead (as if a subterranian retreat), including its accessories and inmates: - grave, hell, pit.

Since the grave is also from the same word as hell then hell is the grave.

Micah 7:18 KJV(18) Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy.

If hell is going to burn for all eternity then this verse has to explained away, because there cannot be a hell that burns for all eternity and a God that does not retain anger for ever. They are two opposites.

He is speaking about, I believe, not staying angry at people ON EARTH forever. Once they go to hell there will be wrath forever and ever. The Bible is quite clear on that.

Revelation 20:9 KJV
(9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

This text says that the fire devours them. Also read Revelation 20 it is on the earth, if God is going to create this earth new then how will He do it while people are burning on it?

The text is clear that God does not retain His anger for ever. You have just tried to explain it away by making out it means something else.

Ok, so I'm seeing a big debate about it right now so I just want to know what you think Hell, well honestly I prefer the term Hades, is:
A. A forever burning fire pit that last forever and ever and ever and ever and EVER! Why do you believe that, who made it(Hades) that way, and is it fair/just
B. A tempery(allowed to die)burning fire pit the last depending on how great your sins were. Why do you believe that, who made it(Hades) that way, and is it fair/just
C. Is it just death, no 'punishment'(in quotes because there are people that would see it that way), no fire. Why do you believe that, who made it(Hades) that way, and is it fair/just.

Only rule: when quoting scripture please put it in a way a 14 year old can completely understand, but put the actual quote there if you want.

Thank you for your time. God bless and have a nice day.

we are ment to live forever weather we are in heaven or hell

I didn't say anything about Hell not being eternal... and those verses only address that. No where does it say the soul is immortal unless they are given eternal life. And God is God... what kind of God could not destroy an immortal soul especially if he made it to begin with? So yeah... I think when you go to hell, your soul is destroyed (obliterated)... the second death.

As I said... how can someone who is dead, have eternal life? That's basically what the soul burns forever in hell people are saying. You have eternal life... with a pike up your bum and roasting like a marshmallow.

It's as simple as life without Jesus is as good as being dead. Taking into consideration that we take our true form, being spirit beings, when we" die" this fact becomes the reality that it is. This truth of Christ being life is repeated through out scripture in many forms but with the same purpose and revelation;
John 14:6
6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life:no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 1:4
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.

Romans 7:6
6 But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.

The heart [unsaved spirit] is DECEITFUL above all things, and DESPERATELY WICKED: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9

The Spirit of an Unsaved Man Is Dead and Desperately Wicked

When a person is not born again, he has what I call an unsaved spirit. There are many different ways the Bible describes a non-Christian. The Bible calls him an unbeliever, a sinner and an unregenerate person. It is important for you to be aware of the condition of the human spirit.

And apart from your status being "dead" there are consequences of not having Jesus -eternal punishment as seen in Matt 25:46. Remember death never means non-existence when it comes to the spiritual. Yes our flesh becomes dust but our spirits live on. God did say Adam and Eve would die if they ate the fruit of good and and evil but they "lived" to experience the consequences and till date unless God intervened, no man has escaped the curses Adam and Eve brought into this world ; not even the serpent walks on feet.

John 3:16 KJV
(16) For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Revelation 20:9 KJV
(9) And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

Those who do not follow Christ according to these texts perish they are devoured. It does not look eternal.

My options are:

Or go to hell where my family and friends are who were good people and never harmed anyone in their lives.... They just didn't believe in god.

No fair minded person can say that's acceptable

So, how do you define goodness?? whats your standard of calling one a sinner or good?? Is it not the God who Judges and calls one sinner or good ??

Will you judge if those in heaven are sinner or those in hell just ?? Will you Judge the Lord ?

John 8:7

And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to Judge (throw a stone at her).”

I don't think goodness needs to defined. But by the sounds of it a non believer can be worse than a pedophile or a rapist or a murderer.

Is that acceptable?

Do you know that there are two different accounts of what hell is - one fire and two darkness? How can hell be both fire and darkness?

What can I, a mere speck of dust in the Universe, do that would so offend my Creator that it is worthy of eternal damnation?

What did you do to offend? SIN.

But there is an easy escape route -- except Jesus died for you and repent of your sins. How easy it is to escape death and hell if you would just believe!

Goodness is God. God is the source of all goodness, not man.

But by the sounds of it a non believer can be worse than a pedophile or a rapist or a murderer.
A pedophile, a rapist, and a murderer could each rationalize their behaviour by pointing out someone whom they think is "worse" than they are. They could defend their actions with logic. If you employ moral relativity, there's always a way to vindicate yourself and come out smelling like a rose.

I suppose Jesus, being light of the world, was a flashlight?
