Any Scriptures yet to say that being gay in and of itself is a sin? I am waiting... I do not need articles and deflections and rationalizations. I see enough (too much!) of that around here!
The problem is people always interpret Scripture differently.. So if someone were to post, you'd say how that's not what it means.. Then that person will say "yes it does" and call you a name. In other words, your suggestion isn't going to help anybody. People don't admit when they're wrong on this site.

I'm not upset at all. I'm actually pretty happy. I'm not more perfect or more righteous. Not sure where you are getting this? This thread is about witnessing to homosexuals and it was brought up where does it say homosexuality is a sin. That is why I brought that up? Did you read the entire thread?
The act is a sin and in 1 Corinthians 6:9-10 it states homosexuals will not inherit the kingdom of God
If homosexuals can't inherit the Kingdom of God that implies that it is a sin to be a homosexual. Sin keeps us from the Kingdom of God. Pretty simple IMO
"Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God?"

Who is righteous, Lance?
You calling me unrighteous?
Who is confusing here.

The point is, 1 cor says the unrighteous will not inherit.

she tried to point that out to you, But you did not get it, I was trying to help you understand.

If homosexuals will nto make it, non of us will (THATS THE POINT)

And when they preached the gospel....they did not rail on about people's sins.....I know this conflicts with our traditional view of the gospel which we have been taught in church but it doesn't change the scripture that shows us an example of preaching the gospel....Look at Paul when he went to preach the gospel..no where did he rail about their sin..he preached Christ..not sin!

when you read that the disciples were put in jail it was actually because they healed a lame man..because part of the gospel of the grace of Christ is healing! The gospel is all about good news. The word gospel = ..the nearly too good to be true news!

Im not talking about railing on anyone,Im talking telling people they are in sin and lost.

Mark 1:14-15: " Jesus came to Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, and saying, "The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the gospel."

Repent,of what? Sin!

Luke -
I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.

Acts-Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins.

Acts- Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out

Luke-Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,
And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

This is all a matter of identity! If I was a thief before I came to Christ..am I still a thief?..in the eyes of the world I am ( and in the eyes of self-righteous people that never sold I could still be thought of that way )

In Christ there is no such thing of being gay, being a thief, a gossiper..whatever. We are new creations in Christ!

It's a matter of indentity! Let's tell Christians who they really are now in Christ..and to stop identifying ourselves with the old habits of our former life or for those things that we still struggle with.

IN CHRIST yes,but a sinner is not in Christ till they are saved.

repent means to change your mind.... I know the real definition offends what we have been told in church..

3341 metánoia – literally, "a change of mind" ("after-thought"); conversion, after turn about, subsequent change with another (God), a turn with someone else, metanoéō (from 3326 /metá, "changed after being with" and 3539 /noiéō, "think") – properly, "think differently after," "after a change of mind"; to repent (literally, "think differently afterwards").

REPENT that is what they preached. That is mentioning sin!

I was wondering............ If someone asked each of us whether God gave us a microscope, or a mirror, what would our individual answers be?
Its not about us being perfect and sinless. Its Christ we are judging our standards by.He is the ruler to measure by. You cant live a sinful life and be saved.Homosexual or otherwise.

And that is why they need to hear the gospel!....then they have a new identity. Christians today that sin still are In Christ.....their particular "sin" does not change their identity.

IN CHRIST yes,but a sinner is not in Christ till they are saved.

No. then they would have been teaching law. and the lawyers would not have been against them.

Repent is a change of mind about who God is and what your status is in relation to him (dead)

Your interpretation is the one given by some in the church, not by the language of which it was used.

The Bible specifically says to repent or be lost in sin. Repent from sin.Simple. I provided the verses.Jesus and the disciples both taught it.

I repent every day! I used to think that I had to keep the Sabbath on sunday but I repented ) changed my mind ) and now I believe that Jesus is our Sabbath rest.

What we are saying is that "turning from sin" could be a fruit of repentance.

God "repented" on a number of times...did He turn from His sin?

New Testament repentance is changing your mind from depending on your own self-righteousness and turning to God in Christ by faith in His finished work on our behalf.

No one is saying that sin is ok and just do what you want..lol....

Here is how grace-based believing looks like...

It is Himself thru Jesus Christ....that becomes our revelation. The more we see Him, understand Him, the revelation switch is given us, thru the Holy Spirit.... Our obedience immediately follows from the inertia of His grace and He immediately empowers us beyond ourselves, gathering us to Himself.. And turning who we were into who He has already made us to be because we are in Him,

I dont see where we are getting crossed up here. Repent from sin, turn, change course, from sin.

I do not repent! And I hope I never will. However, I DO frequently reaffirm my original repentance that occurred some 38 years ago.

I know that gets old. But thats Gods requirement. So if turning from sin is required no one will make it.

Yes, but that does not mean repent from sin.

You can't repent from sin before your saved, you have no capacity too.

you can repent from being your own God, Thinking you do not need saved ,or trying to save yourself. But the sin issue, that can;t be dealt with until your born again.

Hi Willie, Grace,

Regarding repentance, which should be an on-going state of the believers spirit, scripture states the following:

"Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.

"Likewise, you also have those who hold to the teaching of the Nicolaitans. Repent therefore! Otherwise, I will soon come to you and will fight against them with the sword of my mouth."

"Nevertheless, I have this against you: You tolerate that woman Jezebel, who calls herself a prophet. By her teaching she misleads my servants into sexual immorality and the eating of food sacrificed to idols. I have given her time to repent of her immorality, but she is unwilling. So I will cast her on a bed of suffering, and I will make those who commit adultery with her suffer intensely, unless they repent of her ways.

"Wake up! Strengthen what remains and is about to die, for I have found your deeds unfinished in the sight of my God. Remember, therefore, what you have received and heard; hold it fast, and repent!"

"Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent"

All of those mentioned above are believers within the church who the Lord is advising to repent. Our hearts should always be in a repentant state. We should confess our sins daily. And if we wander away from the truth, then we would necessarily need to repent.

Jesus said repent and believe the good news. He started His ministry following His baptism in such a way. He was talking about what? Believing the good news of sin? Cuz we all rejoice to find out what sinners we are in the sight of God? I doubt it. All sins have been forgiven but lack of belief in God. Not lack of belief in sin. One does not know they are a sinner apart from God. When one repents of their attitude toward God, they can change their attitude toward sin, with the help of God.

But if we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to
forgive us our sins, and he will purge us from all our evil.

I confess every single day. Every single day I find myself wanting in the sight of God. And every single day I am grateful for what Jesus Christ has done for me, and not just me, but also for the sins of the whole world.
