Everyone have a good time here, and be warm and cuddly. No suffering with Jesus Christ. No need to obey His teachings in ALL of the Word. Always remembering the gospel of wealth in this age, because it really is all yours anyway. Love that mammon! . God, had Jesus done all of this He would be King in this age, but, no, He has chosen the age to come, the living Kingdom freed from the alliance to decay. Yes, keep on in this age, but please do not teach those who love the Way Jesus Christ chose to change; this leaves more for you. God bless all in Jesus Christ.....oh, and keep on keeping score of the faults yoou see in others. Those splinters are nuisance, are they not. Yes your eyes do beam.

Actually legalists are allergic to repenting, it would be an admission of their guilt.
the "Thank God I am not like the homosexual who will burn in hell" Syndrome.

What is considered works than?

Work is something you can boast in (eph 2: 8-9 ....not of works lest anyone should boast)

If I can take credit for something, it is a work

Work is to earn a wage and boast (rom 4, if abraham justified by works, has something to boast about, ....works wages couunted not as grace but debt)

If I receive something I have earned by doing something, then the thing I did was a work.

You work to earn a wage

A gift is freely given, and not earned by any work.

You can recieve a downpayment for work, by taking a reward, then having to work to keep that reward.

Motive.
A legalist does in order to earn favor....in order to get thanks.

A grace kid does because he believes he has God's favor on account of what Christ has done, is doing and will do. He works in the sphere of a thankful heart.
Amen, A grace kid works expecting nothing in return.

What about faith without works? as in James 2:14-26 14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.

James was talking to people who were "hearers and not doers" Who believed in Jesus, and walked in the church, but if you looked at their lives, they still lived as the world did.

James was making it plain. How can you claim you have faith, when you do not do anything at all which would show you have been made a new creature in Christ.

Paul said we are saved by grace through faith, That those who are saved WILL WORK the works of God (even Jesus said we would do greater works than him)

So how could one, who claimes he has faith in God, live as the world with no change?

If you say you have faith, But have ZERO ZIP NADA works, Your faith is dead, thus answers the question, Can your faith save you?

What faith? A dead faith is no faith at all. Even demons believe and tremble..

by the way, I struggled with this passage for years. When the light goes on, and you see what it means, it will be such a blessing.

The reason I ask about Narcissist is because of family members that used scripture to do things like molestation, and I was told that they had the right by God's authrority

vengence is mine sayeth the Lord.

People use the word of god to do all kinds of evil things, Sadly The church used this word we have been given to murder whoever did not believe their way for centuries.

Those people are evil, And people like them make me wish we could go back to OT law, and treat them like the law said to treat them.

Thats why I am not judge, and God should be judge, I would be like moses (and the egyptian)

A third party was involved, it got worse for me. Even when I tried to tell others..they would tell people I was a problem child full of deceit! I had no safety growing up, I was a slave to misery by people of the tribe of Loammi...no mercy at all
You have a God who loves you.. Praise him,

I wish I could say more, but I do not even know what to say, I am torn right now.. Angry and sad.. Angry at evil in the world. Sad at the victims who suffer at the hands of evil

I am 48 now, and far away from the danger of them. I have gone to pastors about it, and all they preached was forgiveness..to forgive them. It was like I was naked, and hungry..but sent away with nothing. I kept forgiving, and I kept going back to the abuse, feeling I was in the wrong. No one ever said "Flee!" No one ever said "I will help you!" I felt like too much of a burden, for them to handle!

The bible teaches we should forgive, I can agree there

But it does not tell us to go back to the abusive situation..Thats where those pastors got it wrong, if they told you to do that.

Two of the most common cliches the world uses to jam a bible believing christian - ''your a legalist'' or ''don't judge me''

you are so right, Cross.

if we can serve in thanksgiving and praise and with a righteous motive, then our Father in heaven
assures us that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

there are rewards and there are gifts - and our labors for our Master are never in vain...

the Holy Spirit is a 'gift' -
Grace is a 'gift' - and
Eternal Life is a 'gift', how magnificent is our Father's Store-House???

the REWARD is our WAGES or our office for Eternity.......

MATT.5:19.
Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least Commandments, and shall teach men so,
he shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven: but whosoever shall do and teach them,
the same shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Your whole treatise is meaningless because you don't even understand what you are talking about. Your very first point makes that quite manifest. The former has nothing to do with the latter.

Could you explain just what you mean by what Christ has done so that we don't need to do it?

John 19:30. What hasn't He done?

Let's see here. So apparently the only two choices are "legalists" or self-appointed snobs who think they're so much better by putting down legalists.

Oh, peach keen! I'm feeling the love. Anyone have a parka?
I take it that means you think of yourself a legalist then. Noted.

John 19:30. What hasn't He done?
which leads to another characteristic.

A legalist will say God did this, thats great, but we must do .........

The works that belivers in Jesus Christ do in there life here on earth ,have been already
ordained By God that we should walk in them. If a fellow believer in Christ feels it is legalistic way of life to follow what Messiah & The Apostles has taught by the Holy spirit, perhaps they need to re- examine themselves if they are in the faith.
Hmmm, and here I thought that as Christians we follow the leading of the risen living Lord Jesus Christ. But maybe that's just me. Those "teachings" all point us to the living Christ, not back to themselves.

"You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; but you are unwilling to come to Me so that you may have life." John 5:39-40
