And yet you believe Paul is speaking of his christian life in rom7:14-23

He says he is sold as a slave to sin.he cannot do the good he wants to do, but the evil he does not want to do, Tha which he hates he does.
How do you square that with your statements?
Yes, Paul is teaching about how now that we have come alive in Christ, we become distinctly aware of the new battle within us. The line is now drawn in the sand. Carnality rises up against the knowledge of God. Our flesh is and will ever be, until the Lord comes, at enmity with God.

I told you you were hyper. Is that why you called me a liar and said I spoke crap( or you used that word in some connection to me)

You see I know you want to thrust yourself forwa rd d here and look good to others, but I didn't notice you try and defend me when euphemia was rude and insulting to me earlier
You going to tell him off for that?
Course not

Now try and calm down- please

it is like an old mentor told me, I can not come against them when they are bad to you, when you are bad to them.

if your going to be that way to then, expect them to do that to you..

Do two wrongs make a right? No. But that's why we still struggle in the flesh, yes, even as believers in Christ.

If you were not that way with her, then maybe we could speak to her..

Paul said

He COULD NOT DO THE GOOD HE WANTED TO DD but rather THE EVIL he did not want to do Tha which he hated HE DID

Paul could not do good, only evil.

H ed doesn't speak of some good and some bad. He is totally a slave to sin. That doesn't go with you stating the mark of a christian is addiction to sin is BROKEN

At salvation, a person begins a lifetime of overcoming in Christ! It's a journey filled with challenges and unspeakable joys.
can they do it by self desire (the fesh)

or do they need to do it by some other factor?

James seems to be saying that since paul could not stop sin in his flesh, it means he was addicted to that sin, Is that true, or was paul making a statement of fact? By our own desire alone, we can not stop sin (like as an unbeliever) so we need external help outside of ourselves to overcome those sins..

Come on euphemia you've had enough Tim to come up with something. On these kind of websites people always do, however ridiculous the answer
Sweetie, I do have a life, you know. I don't punch your time clock. You need to stop acting the clown and asserting yourself as some sort of control freak.

My comments are not ridiculous. They come from a heart that knows God.

where is it, I do not see it in the text.

That does not help.. let me look

Ahh, I should have known, the king jimmy, Now the problem comes forth.

here is the greek word.

Louw Nida 25.2025.20 ἐπιθυμέω[SUP]b[/SUP]; ἐπιθυμία[SUP]b[/SUP], ας f: to strongly desire to have what belongs to someone else and/or to engage in an activity which is morally wrong—‘to covet, to lust, evil desires, lust, desire.’

ἐπιθυμέω[SUP]b[/SUP]: ἀργυρίου ἢ χρυσίου ἢ ἱματισμοῦ οὐδενὸς ἐπεθύμησα ‘I have not coveted anyone’s silver, gold, or clothing’ Ac 20:33; ὁ βλέπων γυναῖκα πρὸς τὸ ἐπιθυμῆσαι αὐτήν ‘anyone who looks at a woman lustfully’ Mt 5:28.
ἐπιθυμία[SUP]b[/SUP]: ἐπιθυμίας πολλὰς ἀνοήτους ‘many foolish desires’ 1 Tm 6:9; νεωτερικὰς ἐπιθυμίας ‘youthful desires’ 2 Tm 2:22; ταῖς πρότερον ἐν τῇ ἀγνοίᾳ ὑμῶν ἐπιθυμίαις ‘the former desires when you were ignorant’ 1 Pe 1:14; ἐπιθυμίαν σαρκὸς οὐ μὴ τελέσητε ‘do not gratify the desires of the body’ Ga 5:16.

That could mean many things, Food, sex, People. Power. Position. Money.

so what was his point?
to note.

The Paul did not right romans in English, or the king james language, he wrote it in greek. You do nto use an English dictionary to find out what a word in an English bible means if you do not understand it, You look to the greek text. Since it was written in Greek.

while the old English used by the King James interpreters may be a possible interpretation of the word. You can see by the greek lexicon, that it is only one of the possible interpretations there are also other interpretations

the safe word to interpret would be "covet" or "desire" or "lust" as used in most modern day translations, which would cover all the possible interpretations of the word.

I could suggest you humble yourself and admit you could be wrong then all your problems would be over, no more contradictions in your beliefs
However, I know you would prefer to keep the contradictions than admit you could be wrong lol

No..

That's what happens when we rely on the flesh.

God did not kill the flesh when he saved us, he just gave us the power to overcome it though his power.

Paul realized that, and made a point, if I try to do it my old way (in the flesh) I fail

I always know when someone's in trouble, over to the greek lol

We better be at the greek, and test what everyone says.

You made the statement, I tested what you said.. Am I wrong for doing so?/ What else should I have done?/ Just take your word for it??

I do that to no one, not even my church leaders.

Oh I Know now. I looked it up in the greek.

The LKV used a poor interpretation. which is questionable.. The greek does not say that exacly, it is their opinion.

Nevertheless, when Paul received Jesus as His Lord and Saviour, the consistent draw to sin was broken. Then, as he became aware of sin, he became aware of how his flesh fights against the knowledge of God and His righteousness he was called to. Certainly he---and we---became aware of how we once lived and had no second thought about choosing to sin.

Paul was using a literary device to emphasize the opposition the flesh wages against the knowledge of God. The reality remains: in Christ we are more than conquerors.

But Paul said he COULD NOT do the good he wanted to do

He didn't say sometimes he could did he

Addiction to sin WAS NOT broken in Paul's life, he was sins slave

No one can overcome any sin apart from obedience to Jesus Christ through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.
