Where does the Bible say there is an age of accountability?
Actually there is nowhere in scripture that explicitly says that there is an age of accountability but most theologians would say that the idea is reasonably accepted based on what scripture teaches about the character of God.

[h=1]Matthew 19:14New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]14 But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

[h=1]Romans 7:9New King James Version (NKJV)[/h]9 I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.

[h=1]2 Samuel 12:21–23[/h]

21 Then his servants said to him, “What is this thing that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive; but when the child died, you arose and ate food.” 22 He said, “While the child was still alive, I fasted and wept, for I said, p‘Who knows whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live?’ 23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, qbut he will not return to me.”

Hi Jchavez ,
I think you are a little rude :) and also somewhat disrespectful to those who you asked questions to. The reason why they are providing you scriptures is because Christians world view is formed from the bible. That is why we use scriptures. Surely you must understand that when you come to a Christian Site that our Answers are going too have biblical or be biblical in nature? it is not those here who are trying to make you responsive BUT Responding to your POST. So Please with a cherry on top ...... Be cool
He's a little banned too, so don't worry about it.

I actually made a note of it in my bible a couple years ago with the question "Age of accountability?" So apparently I took it to mean the same as some here do. Now I am unsure though after reading the text. I'd have to reread the events leading up to this and what happened after to be sure.

Numbers 14
29 Your carcases shall fall in this wilderness; and all that were numbered of you, according to your whole number, from twenty years old and upward, which have murmured against me.

Another is in Numbers 32:

11 Surely none of the men that came up out of Egypt, from twenty years old and upward, shall see the land which I sware unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob; because they have not wholly followed me

I'm not sure these are cases for accountability to God in the way it's being presented here on this thread though.
Oh, interesting. To me, it's about the adults. They already ha the census, and for all tribes but Leviticus, anyone 20 years old and older were considered adults. (It doesn't mention it here, but that's also only counting the men.) I think God's just not punishing the kids for the stupidity and sins of the parents.

On the other hand, if that was about the Age of Accountability, than I'm off the hook on being accountable. I'm a woman. We weren't counted. lol

Really, though -- thank you. I have been hearing about the Age of Accountability since way back in Catholic School, but no one ever taught me where it is in the Bible, and I don't recall ever reading it. I finally get the sense of where someone got the idea now. So, thanks.

we tried to reach him NotmebutHim but he maybe back :) Keep him in prayer :)
He seems to come back about once every one to two months. Same pitch and everything. I just keep hoping he reads before he's banned. Optimism though. If he did read how we respond, he'd at least change the pitch.

There was just enough tipping point in that article that I lean to disagreeing with him.

jchavez..... I am a baptist minister's son and I am licensed through the S.B.C. I am a music minister, and have served in several denominations. It boils down to this: There are basically two kinds of churches: the Happy/Clappy & the Frozen/Chosen. It depends on how the congregation decides to conduct a worship service. I understand how you were raised, because I was raised baptist also. I knew inside that I could no longer enjoy another dull moment during a worship service. I now have the freedom to tap my foot, or shout, or dance or move as the Holy spirit directs because the WORD tells me I can. All of your past 'historical" questions you have will be answered as you grow in His Spirit, and some you won't find out until eternity. I can't see you trying to dig up the Past as proof of your 'hopeful agnostic" attitude. This will keep you in limbo and trap you forever. Satan enjoys that so much, always keeping people confused and full of questions. Are you really going to face JESUS CHRIST one day and ask "YOU sent all of those native Americans, an entire race of people, to hell? and expect JESUS to give you a free pass into heaven? That is a pitiful excuse to hide behind because you decide to not grow spiritually. There is nothing anyone can say to you if your mind is made up that "GOD is unjust"....you just wrote your own eternal ticket...nobody forced this upon you....nobody is to blame except yourself. The list you gave us that you listed as "CHRISTIAN religions is not Christian at all in their basic ideologies and philosophies and what they actually practice. I am not going to pick your comments apart...but..I do pray that you will reach out to GOD..one on one, and dump these questions (or should I say Excuses) on HIM....yes, pray to GOD through JESUS CHRIST, and in His Spirit! Hey, better yet...stay in touch with me so we can grow together....

You'll get used to it, brother,
tho it really does , um, stink.
I've got an open pm box,
feel free to use it anytime.
And that goes for everyone,
Tho it seems most ppl here are afraid to...
I don't know why. You can use it to whisper,
shout, say something that might get you banned elsewhere
if you need to get something off your chest, (within reason),
resolve or mediate a conflict,
or even give me a piece of your mind,
Any of that, if it's done with the intention of growth
or encouragement in the Lord.
God bless you and welcome here!
