Is astral projection travelling in the Spirit… and are we suppose to do it?

Astral Projection is a New Age practice, which has adopted many occult ideas and practices. Astral Projection, sometimes referred to as an "out-of-body experience" is used in witchcraft; where the astral body is linked to the physical body by a silver cord and the soul is free to roam finding it's way back to the body by following the cord. The term silver cord originated from the bible (Ecc12:6-7). Anybody messing with things of the occult shouldn't be surprised if they are dealing with a full fledged demon infestation soon after.
This passage came to mind:
Ezekiel 13
[SUP]20 [/SUP]Wherefore thus saith the Lord God; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the Lord.

That's all I heard . You can't do this. Not possible. If you did, I could see a evil spirit pouncing on your limp body in a second . Better to learn the commandments of God , His words, and not let the mind wonder into that kind of thinking or stuff. Remember what happened to Saul ?
1 Samuel 28
3 Now Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him, and buried him in Ramah, even in his own city. And Saul had put away those that had familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land.
4 And the Philistines gathered themselves together, and came and pitched in Shunem: and Saul gathered all Israel together, and they pitched in Gilboa.
5 And when Saul saw the host of the Philistines, he was afraid, and his heart greatly trembled.
6 And when Saul enquired of the Lord, the Lord answered him not, neither by dreams, nor by Urim, nor by prophets.
7 Then said Saul unto his servants, Seek me a woman that hath a familiar spirit, that I may go to her, and enquire of her. And his servants said to him, Behold, there is a woman that hath a familiar spirit at Endor.
8 And Saul disguised himself, and put on other raiment, and he went, and two men with him, and they came to the woman by night: and he said, I pray thee, divine unto me by the familiar spirit, and bring me him up, whom I shall name unto thee.
9 And the woman said unto him, Behold, thou knowest what Saul hath done, how he hath cut off those that have familiar spirits, and the wizards, out of the land: wherefore then layest thou a snare for my life, to cause me to die?
10 And Saul sware to her by the Lord, saying, As the Lord liveth, there shall no punishment happen to thee for this thing.
11 Then said the woman, Whom shall I bring up unto thee? And he said, Bring me up Samuel.
12 And when the woman saw Samuel, she cried with a loud voice: and the woman spake to Saul, saying, Why hast thou deceived me? for thou art Saul.
13 And the king said unto her, Be not afraid: for what sawest thou? And the woman said unto Saul, I saw gods ascending out of the earth.
14 And he said unto her, What form is he of? And she said, An old man cometh up; and he is covered with a mantle. And Saul perceived that it was Samuel, and he stooped with his face to the ground, and bowed himself.
15 And Samuel said to Saul, Why hast thou disquieted me, to bring me up? And Saul answered, I am sore distressed; for the Philistines make war against me, and God is departed from me, and answereth me no more, neither by prophets, nor by dreams: therefore I have called thee, that thou mayest make known unto me what I shall do.
16 Then said Samuel, Wherefore then dost thou ask of me, seeing the Lord is departed from thee, and is become thine enemy?
17 And the Lord hath done to him, as he spake by me: for the Lord hath rent the kingdom out of thine hand, and given it to thy neighbour, even to David:
18 Because thou obeyedst not the voice of the Lord, nor executedst his fierce wrath upon Amalek, therefore hath the Lord done this thing unto thee this day.
19 Moreover the Lord will also deliver Israel with thee into the hand of the Philistines: and to morrow shalt thou and thy sons be with me: the Lord also shall deliver the host of Israel into the hand of the Philistines.
20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night.
21 And the woman came unto Saul, and saw that he was sore troubled, and said unto him, Behold, thine handmaid hath obeyed thy voice, and I have put my life in my hand, and have hearkened unto thy words which thou spakest unto me.
22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.
23 But he refused, and said, I will not eat. But his servants, together with the woman, compelled him; and he hearkened unto their voice. So he arose from the earth, and sat upon the bed.
24 And the woman had a fat calf in the house; and she hasted, and killed it, and took flour, and kneaded it, and did bake unleavened bread thereof:
25 And she brought it before Saul, and before his servants; and they did eat. Then they rose up, and went away that night.
If you read more about King Saul ,. he had a lot of problems with evil spirits... I'm sure astro whatever can lead to that.
We need Christ in us, not us out there.

I am familiar with what Paul wrote about the gifts. I understand about the gifts, the administrations and the operations. I understand that they are issued with different levels of authority. I understand that there are ministering gifts which is given at birth. And being so, they are being developed throughout a person's lifetime. I understand that there are three witnesses on earth that witness of your salvation according to 1 John 5. I firmly believe without Christ all would perish, but by His grace we are saved. I believe that There are three witnesses to my salvation in heaven and those Three are ONE. Which is God.
I believed that the blood of Jesus needed to be shed for mankind so we can achieve again life and life in abundance for without Him, we are dead. I believe all who call on the name of Jesus shall be saved. I have seen many miracles in my life. I also have seen people that try to make a mockery of what God can do and then God ignoring them completely.
I've had the previldge of seeing people giving their hearts to the Lord. I've sensed and commanded demons to leave a place so that the household could be free. And all this I've done under the Lordship and authority of Christ Jesus. I do not believe in the occult. Those people need a lot of prayer and aid. What I've learned about healing and the like I've learned through the voice of God. I believe in doing the will of God in obedience. And through obedience I see wonderous things. I like to prepare myself in the word so that I do not speak wrongly when someone asks me things. But I like to be thorough. Very thorough. I've founded many things wrong in many churches, and just as many things right. I try to work with every person I can and tell them the truth as God explained things to me.
I am curious however now and then like any other human being to see how much others have learned from God.
I am still seeking to understand the depths of the Kingdom of God. I believe that there was a reason why Jesus said seek it first. I believe many forgot that reason.

I completely agree that not understanding what one is doing is dangerous when it comes to this. And because of that very reason I believe that so very few Christians knew about it or understood it. For their own protection God kept the knowledge from them until they were old enough Spiritually to understand such things. At the very least to understand authority. For without the understanding of our authority in the Spirit and living in that authority we are vulnerable to attacks whether in the physical or the spiritual.
Just as a point of interest. The mere fact that you couldn't know what was behind the door was partly because of your gift. If you had the gift of a prophet, especially a war prophet like Elisha, then knowing what was behind the door would be a lot easier, not that a prophet would need to go out of his body for it. For one could simply observe that part spiritually. If you take Saul went to Samuel initially to find his donkeys. Not to be crowned king. It was common practise in those times, for a prophet would be able to perceive or know spiritually where things were.
Everyone is called for a purpose though. And in that purpose we can grow and glorify God. Those called as a prophet is in no way more important than those that are called as a pastor and vice versa. One is the eye, the other the hand.
