Many of the comments here were refreshing.
I've also noticed that Christians have a tendency to call everything evil. I think it's why the world groans inwardly when we step up to talk to them. It's also why so many hear the word "Christian" and think the word "Hypocrite". I've been to a women's retriete where the leaders told us that makeup was evil, quoting that verse about "do not have braided hair". I asked the leaders how often they wore makeup and they said it was different for them because they were older and had wrinkles. Come on Church! Yes, as a follower of Christ we are called to sacrifice, but we are not called to sacrifice our common sense!!
Also, people who claim Harry Potter is evil, have you ever read it?? In nowhere in any of the books does it mention Satan. The closest thing to Satan in the series was Voldermont and he was defeated by a mother's LOVE and SACRIFICE. Well, and then later by the sacrifice and love and bravery and teamwork of others. The whole series teaches good Christian values and no one could possibly be persuaded to worship Satan from them, no matter how foolish they might be. Just because it has the word "witch" in it does not mean it should be burned. For crying out loud, it's not a how-to guide to Satan worship! Read it, I promise the act of reading it will not send you to Hell and you may even like it.
As for Chess, it's a game that promotes segregation, the Whites against the Blacks, and should be banned for that reason. (just kidding for those who are slow on the sarcasm)
