Right, Dr. Mary.

we may be wrong about the science (I don’t think we are, but as a scientist I have to leave that minute possibility open).
At least she is somewhat candid, but i suppose she has a prior commitment to her secular scientific endeavour's.

Nothing said is evidence that dinosaur fossils are thousands of years old as opposed to millions of years old.
The truth is nobody knows how old or how young dinosaur fossils are, it's the same with the universe and earth and it's the same with the Genesis 6 day creation period, nobody knows how long one of God's days are it's impossible to know. According to the Bible it states there is no other besides God so God is the only infinite entity, He has no beginning and no end. The Bible also tells the reader that there are angelic creatures or spirit persons, so the Bible reader assumes that God created those angels or spirit sons as they are sometimes called. But here is a question, how long did it take God to create one of those angelic creatures?, i think it is fair to say that nobody knows, so i think it is also fair to say that nobody knows exactly How long it took God to create the universe the earth and all natural phenomena within it. Young Earth Creationists make an assumptive interpretation of a 6 x 24 hour day creative period.

well I don't think that Genesis teaches a global flood. ....
you're right. it doesn't 'teach'. Yahweh breathed HIS WORD in Genesis,
and the flood was global, just as HE SAYS.

Dr. Mary Schweitzer is a committed Christian from all indications.

There is no evidence I am aware of that she is not honest and a credible witness.

Unlike, for example, Dr. Dino aka Kent Hovind, a convicted felon and fraud.

Is there anything that would make you suspect that her commitment to secular science is greater than her commitment to God?

I am not aware that Jesus used the LXX. How can you demonstrate that?
Angela53510 and Mitspa said so right on this thread.

Don't you believe them?

Do you think Paul quoted from the LXX?

What language did the vast majority of those in Corinth speak?

Hey man I have another question for you, no please don't take this as sarcasm or an attack of any kind. I know I have come at you a bit crooked a couple times in this thread with nothing accomplished, so I’m trying to just figure something out to get a handle on your motivations for attacking this subject so passionately. Also seeing that my previous comment served absolutely no purpose in the long run I apologize for them and wasting time for no reason.

Why does it bother you so bad if people believe this? I mean from your comments it is like you put them in a class beneath you, and that because a person believes Dinosaurs and humans may have lived together, and/or that the Earth is under 10,000 years old that they are “less” than you? Why does it bother you so bad if someone believes something YOU find silly? Like people have asked you many times and I have yet to see anything posted by you, what is your evidence that the world is billions of years old. To be honest I don’t think it can be “PROVED” with 100% certainty either way. To be honest it seems like you are just here to mock because you are so invested in worldly thought and worldly ways and feel the need to attack and belittle those who don’t feel the same way you do. I have yet to see you use scripture, or praise God, or anything other than attack people because they disagree with you. I have yet to see even the smallest sign of Him in you, and it seems you are just trying to discredit His word.

I hope I am way off base, and am just misunderstanding you intentions and you are in fact a regenerated, remade, whole new creature of His, but in my honest opinion I don’t hear His voice in your comments. Are you really a Christian, are you really 98?

I have known about her for quite some time and i was suprised to know that she believes in God.

There is no evidence I am aware of that she is not honest and a credible witness.
Well, i personally have no reason to say she is dishonest, i'm not sure what you mean by 'credible witness'?

Unlike, for example, Dr. Dino aka Kent Hovind, a convicted felon and fraud.
There is good and bad in all of us and we all fall short of God's high standards, so i suppose the love of God's word the Bible could help one to forgive.

Is there anything that would make you suspect that her commitment to secular science is greater than her commitment to God?
I don't suspect her of anything plus i don't really know her that well so i can't say anything other than i take her at face value. Her commitment and dedication to God is her business, there is a time for secular work to provide the physical needs of day to day life and a time for God and spiritual needs.

What date do you give for the global flood?

Where do you get your date?

Do you get it from Bishop Ussher's chronology, the Septuagint (LXX) which you agree Jesus and the apostles used, or from where, exactly?

Do you believe that your date is verified by scientific evidence?
Well I don't have to figure out the exact date of the global flood ..but a good guess according to scripture would be 5 to 6 thousands years ago....and I did not say the Lord used the "bishops Ussher's chronology" ...that's so silly... lol But He would have been well read in the scriptures and there Greek translation att.

I asked where YOU got your dates, not the Lord.

Why 5,000 to 6,000 years ago for a global flood?

Most YECs say 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. AIG says 4,350 years ago.

Where else can you or other YECs get dates besides the chronologies?

You or other YECs can't say you get them from science with any credibility.

You said you are fluent in Greek.

So why wouldn't you get your chronologies from LXX, in that Jesus and the apostles used and quoted from that scripture?

Which would lead one to conclude it is reliable, right?

Or would you go so far as to say it is inerrant?

definitely the case: [h=1] Ezekiel 14:8-10Amplified Bible (AMP)
[/h] [SUP]8 [/SUP]And I will set My face against that [false worshiper] and will make him a sign and a byword, and I will cut him off from the midst of My people; and you shall know (understand and realize) that I am the Lord.

[SUP]9 [/SUP][The prophet has not been granted permission to give an answer to the hypocritical inquirer] but if the prophet does give the man the answer he desires [thus allowing himself to be a party to the inquirer’s sin], I the Lord will see to it that the prophet is deceived in his answer, and I will stretch out My hand against him and will destroy him from the midst of My people Israel.

[SUP]10 [/SUP]And they both shall bear the punishment of their iniquity: the iniquity of the [presumptuous] prophet shall be the same as the iniquity of the [hypocritical] inquirer,

"Many independent lines of scientific evidence show that the Earth and Universe are billions of years old. Current measurements yield an age of about 4.6 billion years for the Earth and about 14 billion years for the universe."

The above is from this source:

Age of the Earth and Universe - International Planetarium Society, Inc.

Please pay particular attention to the section on Why these measurements are accepted by the scientific community.

Ok great, thank you. I see why you think it is old now. Ok that aside, can you now tell me how it will affect my life and relationship with Jesus if I don't believe that? I also posed many more questions that seemed to have been overlooked, the last two being my most anticipated. Are you really Christian, and are you 98 years old?

Why don't you believe that the world is billions of years old as opposed to around 6,000 years old?

How will it affect your life?

Are you going to tell your children that the world is 6,000 years old?

And that dinosaurs coexisted with humans?

Do you witness to people and tell them such things?

I answered your other questions on this thread way back.

Why don't you believe that the world is billions of years old as opposed to around 6,000 years old? To be honest it is not really that big a deal to me. I believe God's word over anything that any man says, even ones with bunches of letters behind their names. I personally don't think it has too much bearing on day to day life. I don't see billions of years in the bible when I read it, but honestly don't know how old it is beyond 35 years.

How will it affect your life? It really doesn't at all, but then again I don't start threads on Christian websites to cause conflict and make fun of my brothers and sisters in Christ as I see you've done here. I'm more interested in why you feel the need to crusade against Mr. Hovind, and make fun of people that feel different than you do. I am also interested in why you claim to be Christian, but act like this to His children showing the complete opposite, but then again you claim to be 98 too.

Are you going to tell your children that the world is 6,000 years old? I will teach them what I think, and let them know what science says and why, you know teach then all sides and let them decide. Why are my kids, what I teach them, and what they believe a concern of yours at all? That's what I'm not understanding, WHAT IS YOU POINT IN DEFENDING AN OLD EARTH, what is your objective here? Well besides insults.

And that dinosaurs coexisted with humans? Yes I do, and they may too. I think that the fresh tissue and ancient art depicting dinosaurs is the most intriguing evidence in my opinion. That said I'm not a scientist nor do I have any "stake" in this claim, to me it's just a interesting side topic.

Do you witness to people and tell them such things? When I witness to people it is about Jesus Christ, you know the center of every Christians life, and to be honest Dinosaurs or the age of the earth have nothing to do with my witnessing. In my opinion there are bigger problems in the unbelievers life then dinosaur evidence. I feel if one is suppressing the existence of God in their worldview no amount of science is going to change that.

So, do you think your actions and methods in this thread are the way we are called to act? What is the point of this "witnessing", is this how you bring people to Christ?

Right, this issue of teaching YEC psuedoscience is so insignificant that it has made it to the Supreme Court.

I happen to care what is taught in schools. Do you?

Soft (not fresh) tissue in dinosaur bones and ancient art depicting whatever may be intriguing, but it is not credible evidence of dinosaurs coexisting with humans.

I posted a link to the article "Am I offending YECs" a few days ago. You made a sarcastic remark about it, so maybe you read it.

Here's the link again:

Creation Science: Am I Offending YEC's?

I agree with the what is said in this article, things like:

"There is a growing rift between YECs and the rest of Christianity, and the only way to save the church today, and make it more relevant to society, is to cut off the YEC branch. Every once in a while, a little pruning is necessary for the health of a tree. Remember a fellow named Galileo? In the early 1600’s, he believed the earth revolved around the sun (heliocentrism), and challenged the long-held belief that the earth was the center of the universe. The church relentlessly attacked him for it. It took many years, but eventually, the church came to realize he was right. This will eventually happen with young earth creationism. The church will one day catch up with modern science, and YEC will become a thing of the past. My hope is that I can speed up this process."

Yea man, looks like we are on completely different pages, and that was some of the best tap dancing I've seen in a while to avoid the main point of my post. I really tried to understand your angle for making this such a VITAL issue, and you refuse to answer. As far as the earths age and the dino's and humans together, you can win that. Congratulations, look at you in all your glory, you defeated another stupid Christian, go buy yourself a drink to celebrate and bask in you own self admiration. I am just going to try and glorify God as much as my small feeble self can, you have fun making fools of the stupid YEC's all you want. Thanks for pretending to answer my questions, and making up your own points to them. I will pray for God's love and spirit to regenerate you and give you the peace and understanding you obviously are missing. Have a good night brother.

already TOLD YOU....Don't need some made up science to tell me what the bible makes quiet evident...there is no difference between the LXX and the translations from the Hebrew and Aramaic, that cant be explained by simple translation by and through the translators...In fact its amazing the accuracy of these things...Its like God has preserved His Word :)

Don't care about the YECs or the AIG.... I have the truth and the absolute truth in Gods Word.

Really?

The LXX indicates that Methuselah died after the flood.

What do you make of that?
