that is NOT joseph's genealogy.
that is Mary's, and hence Christ's human genealogy.

this is most assuredly the geneaology of Jesus Christ the Son of Man through Mary, who was the daughter of Heli, ...who was the son of Nathan.... who was the son of David who was the son of Jesse.

this is critical because it absolutely records for all time the lineage to King David (and in fact all the way to Adam). if the Holy Spirit decided it was important to record the bloodline of the Son of Man, we need to know it.

Luke 3
The Genealogy of Jesus Christ
23 Jesus, when he began his ministry, was about thirty years of age, being the son (as was supposed) of Joseph, the son of Heli, 24 the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, the son of Melchi, the son of Jannai, the son of Joseph, 25 the son of Mattathias, the son of Amos, the son of Nahum, the son of Esli, the son of Naggai, 26 the son of Maath, the son of Mattathias, the son of Semein, the son of Josech, the son of Joda, 27 the son of Joanan, the son of Rhesa, the son of Zerubbabel, the son of Shealtiel, the son of Neri, 28 the son of Melchi, the son of Addi, the son of Cosam, the son of Elmadam, the son of Er, 29 the son of Joshua, the son of Eliezer, the son of Jorim, the son of Matthat, the son of Levi, 30 the son of Simeon, the son of Judah, the son of Joseph, the son of Jonam, the son of Eliakim, 31 the son of Melea, the son of Menna, the son of Mattatha, the son of Nathan, the son of David, 32 the son of Jesse, the son of Obed, the son of Boaz, the son of Sala, the son of Nahshon, 33 the son of Amminadab, the son of Admin, the son of Arni, the son of Hezron, the son of Perez, the son of Judah, 34 the son of Jacob, the son of Isaac, the son of Abraham, the son of Terah, the son of Nahor, 35 the son of Serug, the son of Reu, the son of Peleg, the son of Eber, the son of Shelah, 36 the son of Cainan, the son of Arphaxad, the son of Shem, the son of Noah, the son of Lamech, 37 the son of Methuselah, the son of Enoch, the son of Jared, the son of Mahalaleel, the son of Cainan, 38 the son of Enos, the son of Seth, the son of Adam, the son of God.

one reason this is important for us to know is that the jews who are still waiting for their messiah wrongly believe the messiah is to come physically through David VIA Solomon, when in fact the Messiah Jesus came physically through David via NATHAN.

okay?
thanks that makes so much more sense. I didn't realize the genealogy in Luke was for Mary and not Matthew. kind of skimmed over the names and things. will have to reread Luke again. but I always wonder why God would use Solomon to bring forth Jesus.

2 Samuel 5:13-20
New King James Version (NKJV)
13 And David took more concubines and wives from Jerusalem, after he had come from Hebron. Also more sons and daughters were born to David. 14 Now these are the names of those who were born to him in Jerusalem: Shammua,[a] Shobab, Nathan, Solomon, 15 Ibhar, Elishua, Nepheg, Japhia, 16 Elishama, Eliada, and Eliphelet

1 Kings 11
9 So the LORD became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the LORD God of Israel, who had appeared to him twice, 10 and had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the LORD had commanded. 11 Therefore the LORD said to Solomon, “Because you have done this, and have not kept My covenant and My statutes, which I have commanded you, I will surely tear the kingdom away from you and give it to your servant. 12 Nevertheless I will not do it in your days, for the sake of your father David; I will tear it out of the hand of your son. 13 However I will not tear away the whole kingdom; I will give one tribe to your son for the sake of My servant David, and for the sake of Jerusalem which I have chosen.”

Galatians 3:16
Now to Abraham and his Seed were the promises made. He does not say, “And to seeds,” as of many, but as of one, “And to your Seed,” who is Christ.

It shows Solomon in the lineage. Do you refer to Nathan the prophet?

um.
can't really follow that.

Matthew is JOSEPH's genealogy. through Solomon.

Luke is Mary's (and Christ's) lineage.
Nathan was King David's OTHER SON.

that's how Jesus came through the King Line.

~

the jews are still waiting for their messiah: see where they went wrong regarding the lineage:

Most of the scriptural requirements concerning the Messiah, what he will do, and what will be done during his reign are located in the Book of Isaiah, although requirements are mentioned by other prophets as well.

check out this little signal:

Isaiah 1:26: "And I will restore your judges as at first and your counsellors as in the beginning; afterwards you shall be called City of Righteousness, Faithful City." Some Jews interpret this to mean that the Sanhedrin will be re-established. (Isaiah 1:26)

It is permitted to look in Matthew and in Luke to see for yourself. It is edifying as is all Scripture.

Meh, I figure this is about as offensive as I can think up. (In keeping with the theme of the board).

Is God (Jesus) a White man?

Obviously not lol. As a man on earth, a Jew. Now, much more than a man.

God is every colour of the rainbow, but he's not a rainbow. He's more than a rainbow, he created the rainbow. He sustains the rainbow. The rainbow is a promise, a promise that all children's Bibles will visually misrepresent the Ark to achieve the 'cute-factor'.

The Bible isn't a book of 'cute stories', it's God's Truth. Sorry, to get heavy towards the end.

God is not a physically being he is a spiritual being meaning he has no body hence no color. Now Jesus was tan because of all the sun he was in as most people where he was at was in the sun a lot. Ha was a carpender so he was not skinny and scrawny as people make him out to be he had muscle and rough hands

The containers all hold the same life be it in the form of Jew, Greek, male, female, free, slave or any other container.

Yahweh is spirit and would be worshiped in spirit and truth. Come the resurrection we will al be like Yeshua. We will all be the same. We do not know yet what we will be, but we will be like our Savior.

To speak of races in relation to Yahweh, is to bring the Creator down to the level of His very own creations, creatures. Do not continue in this manner. It demeans faith.

You know what's interesting to think about, the races of this world came from Noah's sons, can you imagine what other races "might" have existed off those not related closely to Noah...maybe Cain generation?

Meh, I figure this is about as offensive as I can think up. (In keeping with the theme of the board).

Is God (Jesus) a White man?

The biblical Israelites were black people and still are today, the bible clearly states Christ was a very dark skin man. If gods son and his people are black then obviously he is too. check out this verse.

Daniel 7:9 I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool
: his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

God was showing Daniel a vision of judgement day after Christ destroyed the kingdoms of this world
and takes every crown as it is written in revelation to establish his kingdom over the children of Israel. Then Daniel seen god from the back (and the Ancient of days did sit, , whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool)

God is a spirit but he can take the form of a man Exodus 15:3 The LORD is a man of war.

For Example: Daniel seen Christ in the old testament in the form of a man before Christ came in the flesh. Then John seen and described Christ exactly as Daniel in the form of a man. Also we know in the bible angles can take the form of a man. If that's so then why cant god take the form of a man?

Keep fretting about the color of your skin, his skin, her skin or their skin. Others are concerned about those matters spiritual. If one cannot see beyond the color of skin, his own or others, I am afraid he is not prepared to embrace the family and the Father in spirit and truth.

Pay attention, if one cannot see beyond is what is posted here.

Just to let everyone know I posted this topic in 2011. Someone saw fit to resurrect it. That's fine, But I won't be responding and I will not be accepting snarky judgements laid against me for a topic of discussion done in 2011. There was a lot of context at the time (other threads). If you have a problem with the post, I suggest building a great big bridge and getting over it. Save your judgements for other people. But feel free to discuss it, without being a clown.
