of course he does. To much scripture shows it is not just burnt offerings, it is work of any kind, of the law, or just our own good deeds. Nothing can save us. But the blood of Christ. When your argument is week, you are backed into a corner easily, as he is.

You know what this is all about don't you? The same as its always been about:

Not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law but that which is by faith in Christ, the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith

You asked the following....

Your preaching law. Can you tell me where it says the law saves us?
To which I gave the following scripture.....

Rom.7
[10] And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

Paul tells us that God's laws were ordained to life. What life? If kept...eternal life!

But I received no reply.

newcovenantchristian:

You asked the following......

I ask again, are you confident you're saved?
To which I gave the following answer......

"No I am not. Will not know until I am either in the first resurrection...or when my name is called in the final judgment."

But I received no reply.

newcovenantchristian:

You also asked that I interpret the following scripture....

Heb.8
[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:
[11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
[12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

To which I gave an interpretation.....

Heb.8
[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

So at some point God will make a agreement with the nation of Israel. Now let's read to find at what time the above will take place....

[11] And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.

Whenever this agreement takes place, God's word tells us that ALL shall know Him....from the least to the greatest. Question: Do ALL know the Lord now....from the greatest to the least? Let's continue...

[12] For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

But still received no reply nor a reason for an interpretation.

I, on the other hand, ask one simple question with no answer.

Well....here it is again......

Would Abraham, David, any saints or ALL of mankind have the chance of salvation WITHOUT the shedding of Christ blood?

No the fact is you said Adam LOST salvation, he did not lose salvation. he did nto have the need to be saved before he sinned. He was right with God until that time.
And AFTER Adam sinned? Did he need to be saved at that time? And if he did...what did he need to be saved from? What did he once have that was no longer available to him AFTER he sinned?

So my brothers you also died to the law through th body of Christ so that you might belong to another, to him who was raised froim the dead in order that we might bear fruit for God
For when we were controlled by the sinful nature, the sinful passions aroused by the law were at work in our bodies so that we bore fruit for death
But now, by dying to what once bound us we have been released friom the law so that we serve in the new way of the spirit and not the old way OF THE WRITTEN CODE
Rom 7:4-6

As you believe only animal sacrifices have been done away with from the law I guess you believe Paul is just speaking of animal sacrifices there
Not sure how the sinful desires in us are aroused by animal sacrifices, but I am confident of your answer

Here's the question, I guess you missed it. Can you tell me how animal sacrifices/burnt offerings arouse the sinful passions in us?

"...bearing in mind you believe Jesus only died for the sins committed before we are saved"

I believe it because scripture tell us so. Let's read....

Rom.3
[25] Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

in this passage paul is talking about the sins of the people of the past. ie the people of the OT, before Christ died. he is not talking about our sin before we came to Christ.

Israel has experianced a hardening in part until the full number of Gentiles has come in.
AND SO ALL ISRAEL WILL BE SAVED

Were under that covenant now, and a time is coming when all Israel will be saved under it

If you disagree how many covenants do you think there's gonna be?

NOW WILL YOU PLEASE ANSWER MY QUESTION. HOW ARE THE SINFUL PASSIONS IN US AROUSED BY BURNT OFFERINGS

.
1. He did not have salvation before it was lost. so get it out of your head.
2. After he sinned, he died, the penalty of sin is death
3. he needed the promise of Christ. who would one day come and cover his sin, like the animal that was slain to cover his nakedness.

Nor did he enter Heaven to offer himself again and again the way the high priest enters the Most Holy place every year with blood that is not his own
THEN CHRIST WOULD HAVE HAD TO SUFFER MANY TIMES SINCE THE CREATION OF TH WORLD
BUT NOW HE HAS APPEARED ONCE FOR ALL AT THE END OF THE AGES TO DO AWAY WITH SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF

Paul goes from speaking about the laws of animal sacrifice to all of God's other laws through out his writings. At some times he even speaks of both within the same sentence. But to know this you must first understand what set of laws Paul speaks of when he uses the phrases 'works of the law' and 'deeds of the law'.

Rom.3
[20] Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Gal.2
[16] Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.

Now what set of laws did God give that required works and deeds? It was not the law of do not kill, steal, lie, covet, obey mother and father or do not commit idolatry. None of these laws required any work to be done. But there was a set of laws that did require a job to be performed. It was that set of laws that were given to the Levites and their job or, (work and deed) of killing animals.

The Levites job of killing animals could not remove the act of sin man commited...but God allowed it for awhile. This is the "works of the law", or “deeds of the law” Paul speaks of throughout Hebrew and the rest of the NT. This is the only law that requires "works/deeds". Let's read a little...

Heb.7
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

And what law did the people receive from the Levites? The commandment for what type of animal to bring to be sacrificed for the forgiveness of their sins. But the Levitical laws could not make the comers perfect, so there was a need for another priest...Jesus Christ!

[12] For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

Now what law had to be changed? The law that said ONLY the Levites could perform sacrifices.

[13] For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
[14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

Since Jesus was now going to be our High Priest and sacrifice His blood, the law HAD to be changed. Why? Because God said the high priest must ONLY come from the tribe of Levi, and Jesus was from the tribe of Juda. So what law was changed? The Levitical Priesthood and the laws of animal sacrifice.

[19] For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.

What Law? The law the people got from the Levites that said they must sacrifice animals for the remission of their sins. But what the law did do was bring in a better hope. It was to keep the people until the seed would come, Jesus Christ. God allowed the blood of bulls and goats to justify, or clear the people of their sins. This is the law of flesh. What flesh? The flesh of animals. This is the law of God the required "Works of the Law"! What works? The work of sacrificing animals every day. This is the 'work' and the 'deed' of the law that had to be performed.

[24] But this man, because he continueth ever, hath an unchangeable priesthood.
[28] For the law maketh men high priests which have infirmity; but the word of the oath, which was since the law, maketh the Son, who is consecrated for evermore.

And again, what law makes men High Priest? The Law of God that said ALL high priest MUST come from the tribe of Levi.

So we end chap. 7 talking about one law only......the law of the Levites/animal sacrifice. "Works of the Law"! Now let's move right into the next chap.; Heb.8;

Heb.8
[1] Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

So Paul is NOT changing the topic here, he is just doing a review of what was just said. And what was the topic we just read about? God's laws concerning the Levites and animal sacrifices. "Works of the Law"!

[3] For every high priest is ordained to offer gifts and sacrifices: wherefore it is of necessity that this man have somewhat also to offer.

So just as the law required every high priest to offer a gift AND sacrifices, so was Jesus to do the same thing. Remember, the ONLY part of the law that was changed was the requirement that the priest come from the tribe of Levi only. ALL other aspects of the law remained.

[6] But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry, by how much also he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises.

So Jesus will be the mediator of a better covenant with better promises.

[7] For if that first covenant had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for the second.

If the first covenant was faultless, there would not have been a need for a second. But let's see what was at fault;

[8] For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:

FINDING FAULT WITH "THEM"!!!!! It was the PEOPLE that were at fault.......NOT the laws God gave. What is wrong with, Do not serve Idols, Do not Kill, Do not lie, steal, covet commit adultery, keep God‘s Sabbath, Honor Father and Mother? So the covenant was made imperfect by the people not keeping their end of the agreement and NOT by the laws.

[9] Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord.

The covenant was broken because the "PEOPLE" did not continue to keep God's laws.

[10] For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people:

So those SAME LAWS, will now be in our minds. At what point did God ever say He would do away with His laws? The covenant yes! But His law? NEVER! Let's confirm this in the next verse.

[13] In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

So the old covenant was to be replaced with a new covenant. The old was made with the blood of animals. The new will be made with the blood of Christ. The covenant was an agreement. That is what was replaced. Not God's laws!

Now let's continue into the next chap., chapter 9. Notice the topic has NOT changed! Paul is STILL talking about the Laws of the Levites/Sacrifice.

Heb.9
[1] Then verily the first covenant had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary. "Works of the Law"!

As we can see Paul is STILL talking about the laws of animal sacrifice. Those laws had a divine service and a temple. Of the 613 laws, which required service "works/deeds" to be done in a temple? Only (1) set! The law of sacrifice. "Works of the Law"!

[2] For there was a tabernacle made; the first, wherein was the candlestick, and the table, and the shewbread; which is called the sanctuary.
[3] And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

And this service was done behind the veil. And what was torn the MOMENT Christ died? The veil of the temple! Giving even more proof as to what law ended and was nailed to His cross!

[6] Now when these things were thus ordained, the priests went always into the first tabernacle, accomplishing the service of God.
[7] But into the second went the high priest alone once every year, not without blood, which he offered for himself, and for the errors of the people:

Paul is still talking about the law of sacrifice. But ONCE a year a special sacrifice was offered with the blood of bulls and goats. "Works of the Law"!

[11] But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

[12] Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us.

Just as the high priest had to make a special sacrifice ONE TIME, so did our Lord have to do the same. Remember ALL of the rituals of the law for animal sacrifice remained.

[13] For if the blood of bulls and of goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purifying of the flesh:
[14] How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?

If the blood of bulls and goats forgave for a short period of time, how much better would the blood of Christ be?

[15] And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.

So it is the blood of Christ that binds this new covenant. It is also the blood of Christ that redeemed, or 'justified' our transgressions/sins.

[18] Whereupon neither the first testament was dedicated without blood. "Works of the Law"!

If the first covenant needed blood, so does the second.

[22] And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

And again, what law is Paul speaking about, the law of animal sacrifice. "Works of the law"!

[23] It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

[24] For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

The things in heaven must be copied here, but since this sacrifice was going to be performed in heaven it had to be perfect. And the blood of bulls and goats was NOT perfect. Only the blood of Christ is perfect.

And that is why the law could not save us. The blood of bulls and goats could keep them in hope, but their blood could not keep them from dying the second death.

[28] So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

Just as the high priest of the OT, Christ also was offered ONCE to bear the sins of many. Now let's go into the next chap. Notice Paul STILL DID NOT stop talking about the laws of the Levites and animal sacrifice. "Works of the Law"!

Heb.10
[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Paul is VERY consistent. AGAIN he starts by talking about the SAME laws he has been talking about since the 7th chap. "Works of the Law"

The law, which was a shadow of things to come, could not with those SACRIFICES, make the comers perfect. And which law was it that required sacrifices that could not make the comers perfect? The Law of the Levites/Animal Sacrifices.

Now what law required sacrifices‘? THE LAW OF THE LEVITICAL PRIESTHOOD......ANIMAL SACRIFICES! This is the law that Paul speaks of that was a shadow of things to come. The law of the Levites only! "WORKS OF THE LAW"!!!

So we know that Paul is NOT talking about ANY of the other 613 laws. He is ONLY talking about the laws of animal sacrifice.

[2] For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.
[3] But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.

So if the sacrificing of animals worked, there would be no need for the service to be performed from year to year.

[4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.

So the blood of animals could NOT take away sin. The blood of bulls and goats could not justify or clear man of sin. This law of the Levites could not make the comers there unto perfect. Paul is not talking about God's other laws here. He is ONLY speaking about the laws that were given to the Levites and their job "works/deeds" of performing animal sacrifice.

[5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

Not only could the law of sacrifice NOT take away sin.....God NEVER liked doing it in the first place. God never had any pleasure in killing innocent bulls and goats....but because of His OTHER law, that only shed blood could remove sin, He allowed it.

Again, there is ONLY (1) set of laws that require burnt offerings and sacrifice. "Works of the Law"!

[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
[9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

Take away the first what? Take away the first Law that required the blood of bulls and goats! WHY? Because it was not going to do the job and God never liked it. So that law was replaced with another. It was replaced with the law that required the blood of a perfect sacrifice.

[10] By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
[12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

So now we see that from the 7th through the 10th chapter of Heb., Paul ONLY spoke about the laws of the Levitical Priesthood, or the laws of animal sacrifice. At no point was Paul ever talking about God's other laws when he was speaking about the "works/deeds" of the law.

Here's the question, I guess you missed it. Can you tell me how animal sacrifices/burnt offerings arouse the sinful passions in us?
Now let’s go to some of Paul’s other writings;

Now that we know of what Law Paul speaks of from the 7th through the 10th chapters of Heb., let’s go to some of Paul’s other writings for better understanding of what he means by the phrase 'works and deeds' of the law;

Col.2
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Now didn't we just read about a set of 'divine ordinances' that were part of the 'old covenant'? And did not Paul tell us that these laws could not make the comers there unto perfect. These laws of the Levites are the laws that were against us and contrary to us. Why? Because they could not justify or clear man of his sins once and for all. So what was the set of laws that were 'nailed to His cross'? What law HAD to end when Christ died? What law was only to be around for a little while to give us hope? The answer to that is easy....let's read what happened the moment Christ died;

Matt.27
[51] And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

Mark 15
[38] And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

Luke 23
[45] And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

Behind the veil is where the Levites performed their works/deeds of animal sacrifice. If there was no more veil....their job was over. The Levitical Priesthood ended the moment Christ died. This is the law that was nailed to His cross. ALL of the others are yet to be observed.

Let's read some more of Paul's writings.......

Rom.3
[20] Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

Here we have Paul speaking about BOTH sets of God's laws in (1) verse. The "deeds of the law" are the laws of the Levitical Priesthood and as we were already told by Paul, the blood of bulls and goats could not make the comers there unto perfect. The deeds/works of the law of the Levites could not clear man of his sins. But then Paul speaks of 'another' law, whereby we know what God considers sin.

[28] Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

And this is true...man is justified NOT by the deeds/works of the law of the Levites, but by the faith in Christ which comes from hearing, believing AND obeying the words of God.

Gal.3
[2] This only would I learn of you, Received ye the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
[3] Are ye so foolish? having begun in the Spirit, are ye now made perfect by the flesh?
[5] He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

By the works of WHAT law? The only law that required works/deeds; The law of the Levitical Priesthood. And what flesh would Paul be speaking of that the Galatians thought could make them perfect? The flesh of bulls and goats. Even here Paul is speaking of the Law of the Levitical Priesthood. Paul is telling them that going back to killing animals is not going to clear them, or justify them, of sin. Now that we know this let's read more....

[11] But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.

And which law is it that no man is justified by? The one that Paul mentioned above. The law that requires works/deeds; the one that required the flesh of bulls and goats for the removal of sin. The law of the Levites.

[19] Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

And which law was added? The Law of the Levites/Animal Sacrifice. And why was it added? Because God's 'OTHER' laws, the ones that were already given since the beginning of time were continuing to be broken.

Think about it......

God sent a Flood because man did not keep His laws.
God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because man did not keep His laws.
Over and over again God punished man BEFORE the was even a nation of Israel, because man did not keep His laws.

So what law did God add to give man hope until the seed would come?

God added the law of the Levitical Priesthood.

And how long was this law to be around? How long were the Levites to continue to sacrifice animals?..."...till the seed should come to whom the promise was made..."

[21] Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.

And what law could NOT give life? The law of the Levites. Because if the law of the Levites could give life there would not have been a need of a change in the law; that change being allowing one from another tribe to perform sacrifices...Jesus Christ of the tribe of Judah.

[23] But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.

What law were they kept under that would later be revealed? The law of the Levites.

[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[25] But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

And what law was our schoolmaster? What law are we no longer under? The law of the Levites! Why? Because once Christ made the perfect sacrifice with His blood there was no need of the Levitical Priesthood. There was no need to kill bulls and goats. The veil of the temple was torn in two.

Now let's read a few more....

Rom.3
[31] Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.

Rom.6
[1] What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
[2] God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?

So....do we continue to sin? Do we make void the law? Do we continue to break God's laws? Well....how can we if ALL of them have been nailed to His cross?

1 What law of God required the 'works/deeds"' that Paul speaks of? The law of the Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Heb.7
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

3. What law of God was only to be around for a short time? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Heb.10
[4] For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.
[5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.
[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;
[9] Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

4. What law of God was added to His other laws? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Gal.3
[17] And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
[19] Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.

5. What law of God could not make the comers there unto perfect? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice..

Heb.10
[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

6. What law of God did He not like? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Heb.10
[5] Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me:
[6] In burnt offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hast had no pleasure.

7. What law of God had to be changed? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Heb.7
[11] If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?
[12] For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.
[13] For he of whom these things are spoken pertaineth to another tribe, of which no man gave attendance at the altar.
[14] For it is evident that our Lord sprang out of Juda; of which tribe Moses spake nothing concerning priesthood.

8. What law of God was to be a school master? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Gal.3
[24] Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
[25] But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

9. What law of God was nailed to His cross? Levitical Priesthood/Animal Sacrifice.

Col.2
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Heb.10
[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

Hopefully when you come across the writings of Paul and read the words 'works and deeds' of the law, or even the word 'law' by itself, you will stop to consider.....just which law it is Paul is speaking of. For we know Paul kept the laws of God to the best of his ability AND he told all that he preached to to do the same.

Paul speaks of (2) sets of laws in his writings; those that were nailed to Christ cross, the Levitical Priesthood/animal sacrifice laws.....and ALL of God other laws! One set have been done away with.....for a time. The others still must be kept by man to the best of our ability.

Now let’s go to some of Paul’s other writings;

Now that we know of what Law Paul speaks of from the 7th through the 10th chapters of Heb., let’s go to some of Paul’s other writings for better understanding of what he means by the phrase 'works and deeds' of the law;

Col.2
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Now didn't we just read about a set of 'divine ordinances' that were part of the 'old covenant'? And did not Paul tell us that these laws could not make the comers there unto perfect. These laws of the Levites are the laws that were against us and contrary to us. Why? Because they could not justify or clear man of his sins once and for all. So what was the set of laws that were 'nailed to His cross'? What law HAD to end when Christ died? What law was only to be around for a little while to give us hope? The answer to that is easy....let's read what happened the moment Christ died;

Matt.27
[51] And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent;

[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

Col.2
[14] Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
Heb.10
[1] For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.

So we end chap. 7 talking about one law only......the law of the Levites/animal sacrifice. "Works of the Law"! Now let's move right into the next chap.; Heb.8;

Heb.8
[1] Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

If the first covenant was faultless, there would not have been a need for a second. But let's see what was at fault;

[3] And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the Holiest of all;

[11] But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building;

[8] Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law;

[12] But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;

So now we see that from the 7th through the 10th chapter of Heb., Paul ONLY spoke about the laws of the Levitical Priesthood, or the laws of animal sacrifice. At no point was Paul ever talking about God's other laws when he was speaking about the "works/deeds" of the law.

.
you don't get it. The law is what condemns us, and leads us to Christ. As paul said, I would not have known sin if it were not for the law. but the law came, sin revived and i died.

The law taught that if one sinned, Sacrifice and death must cover that sin, Yet this was even before the law. Abel did it, God accepted it and he was killed by his brother who tried to get right with human good and not the way God intended it.

The law is fulfilled. Because Christ died ONCE.. for the sin of the world. In other words. Animal sacrifice is replaced by ONE DEATH. thus when we sin, we can not keep going back to anything to have that sin cleansed. it was cleansed when Christ died on the cross. already. If it was not cleansed 2000 years ago on the cross. we are doomed, because there remains no more sacrifice for sin.

The law INCLUDES the commands, there is no way around it. Works of the law included obeying the law. Which if you do not think takes work, you are severely misunderstanding our human nature.

Here's the question, I guess you missed it. Can you tell me how animal sacrifices/burnt offerings arouse the sinful passions in us?
Now...to answer your question;

Sometimes Paul does NOT use the phrase 'works or deeds' of the law when he is in fact speaking of them. Sometimes he just says, 'the law'. The challenge to to determine WHICH law Paul is speaking about.

Rom.7
[4] Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

Now knowing that the blood of Christ is what caused the laws of animal sacrifice to cease...which law is it that we have become dead to "...by the body of Christ..."? The law that was removed with the shedding of Christ blood...the laws of the Levites and animal sacrifice. Let's continue...

[5] For when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit unto death.

Now Paul tells us of laws that stirred up sin. He now speaks of a law that not only stirred up sin but made sin even more sinful by the knowledge of it. Let's confirm this by reading a little further down in the chapter...

[8] But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

Here Paul is not speaking about the law of the Levites and the killing of animals. Here Paul is just talking about the rest of God's commandments. Paul tells us that before he knew what God's laws were...sin was dead to him. He had no idea what he was doing was wrong in the eyes of God. Let's read more...

[9] For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

Paul tells us that he was alive once. How? By doing what he wanted to do...have a great time. But what happened when he read the law? Let's let him tell us....

[7] What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid. Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not known lust, except the law had said, Thou shalt not covet.

Once Paul found out that it was wrong to covet...that old man that coveted had to die....and that is why he said, "...but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died."

Now what law was it that brought the knowledge of sin to Paul? Was it the set of laws for animal sacrifice? No! Those laws did not give Paul the knowledge of sin. It was God's other laws; do not steal, lie, kill, covet obey father and mother that told Paul what was right and wrong.

So no! The laws of animal sacrifice did not bring up, or arouse sinful passions in Paul. It was God's other commandment that were responsible for that.

But which law was it that we became dead to because of the shedding of the blood of Christ?

The laws of the Levites and animal sacrifice;

"...ye also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ..."

For it was the body or, shedding of His blood, that caused us to be dead to the laws of the killing of animals.

2. After he sinned, he died, the penalty of sin is death

Which death was it that was the penalty for sin?

For as we read...

Heb.9
[27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

From the start ALL were appointed to die a natural death...whether a person sinned or not.

So which death was the penalty for SIN?

tHAT'S A TERIBLE UNDERSTANDING IT REALLY IS

Nor did he enter Heaven to offer himself again and again the way the high priest enters the Most Holy place every year with blood that is not his own
THEN CHRIST WOULD HAVE HAD TO SUFFER MANY TIMES SINCE THE CREATION OF TH WORLD
BUT NOW HE HAS APPEARED ONCE FOR ALL AT THE END OF THE AGES TO DO AWAY WITH SIN BY THE SACRIFICE OF HIMSELF
hEB9:25&26
So let me ask you....do Christians commit willful sins?

For as we read...

Heb.9
[27] And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

From the start ALL were appointed to die a natural death...whether a person sinned or not.

So which death was the penalty for SIN?

.
He died the moment he sinned. It is spiritual death, Which all men are born dead to god.

Jesus died spiritually on the cross. Spiritual death is separation from God. God turns his back and forsakes us because he can not look upon sin.

On the cross. Jesus proved it. "my God My God why has though forsaken (departed from me) Jesus died spiritually before he died physically.

except for unknown sin (sins we do not know are sin) all sin is willfull. Don;t deny when you sin you did it accidently, that is a cop out.

Do Christians commit willful sins?

It's a pretty simple question.
