You would deny that I tried my very best to reach God? God shouldn't be that hard to reach. There are always those who argue I didn't try hard enough, or that God reached out but I didn't notice. Which would you say was the case in this instance?

Here's my concern: How can you claim to know what went down and how, if you don't know my personal story?

Yes, what makes an atheist, an atheist? It is curious to note, that so many atheists "of note" are Jews. But like Christ said in John chapter 8 , that they do the lusts of their father. So, they do not believe in the God of Christ, but in the god that they do the works of as Christ identified, who is satan , who is the father of Cain.

Glass looks clean until the bright light shines through it.

When God looks through us, He sees what is there. God is holy and we are not.

God dwells in unapproachable light. (1 Timothy 6:16)

"...His face was like the sun shining in all its brilliance. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead..." (Revelation of John 1:16-17)
There are many bright lights in the known universe. The nearby sun is one of them. You can permanently damage your eyes by gazing at the sun and other bright lights.

Bright light reveals imperfections in glass and other substances.

For those looking for God with telescopes, perhaps you are missing Him because He is inside the bright lights. Actually, that's not quite the way that it is..

We cannot flee from the presence of God (Psalm 139:7-10)

"God is light" (1 John 1:5)

Can't believe this thing still has a pulse.

Two atheists were talking about the greatness of man and how God was not,nor never needed. "We have conquered the very building blocks of the universe. There is NOTHING we cannot achieve. We can even create life from dust!" At that moment God showed up and said "OK let's see". The atheist reached down and grabbed a handful of dirt.... God stopped him and said, "No, you have to create your own dirt!"

Silly I know, but it illustrates how ludicrous the notion of creating SOMETHING from NOTHING is.

Look, you regular atheists obviously come here so often for a reason. You either want to believe and hope to be convinced, or you desire to try and turn others from their faith.
To the former, time is short, you have been shown enough light and truth to accept Jesus. To the latter, Make no mistake about it, whether you believe or not, God is in control. I would highly recommend not storing up wrath for yourself.

I would say so. A miracle in my understanding is something that breaks natural laws, else-wise it can't be distinguished from everyday, mundane events. I know a lot of people speak of the birth of a child as a miracle, but it's not really. Birth is as common as death and neither are miracles. A one legged man growing back his missing limb over night -- now that's a miracle.

I am not familiar with this phrase.
in the first testament
Can't find it for now, yet there was writing on a wall tha God did and no physical being seen, as God says God is Spirit and one can only worship God in Spirit and truth, Something like the air I breath I do not see it, but i know it is real.
So anyway this how I worship Father in Spirit and truth that I believe Father to be a Spirit and not the flesh. I am available for Father to use my flesh anytime anywhere for This is what I can trust and not self or mankind, this I know as a fact
Love you, just expelling what I beleive beyond a shadow of a doubt, thank you fro all your honesty

This is a common Christian belief, but it is not what atheists actually experience.

This is what you imagine happens, but it is not the atheist experience. Trust me, if God had shown himself to me I would not have ended up as an atheist. I went through a phase where I very much wanted to believe. I did everything I could to make myself believe and I implored God to reveal himself. No such luck.

I don't think you have any true understanding of the atheist mind, or you wouldn't say this.
Personally, I think and see this God is so amazing God will show himself to you by his power and you will know truth and make the conscious decision to believe God or not in the amazing love God has for you, much deeper than any physical person you can ever meet.
For God is fair in all God's doings, and all will have the conscious choice to see and beleive God consciously or not. And when god calls an end to this age of grace all will have known and made their choice and have no excuse as to what happens to them, having made the conscious choice and know what the consequences are
It is not about sin any more, for God took that away through Son
It is about belief or not beleive period in Love unconditionally to you. It is not about religion, it is about having a relationship with the one that loves you deeper than anyone else, including your self
Yet I respect your choice is free just as mine is too, and thank you for giving me this freedom to express what I see as truth and the same for you
Father has called you, your choice

...handwriting on the wall...
‎NKJV
‎‎Daniel 5:1 Belshazzar the king made a great feast for a thousand of his lords, and drank wine in the presence of the thousand.
‎‎2 While he tasted the wine, Belshazzar gave the command to bring the gold and silver vessels which his father Nebuchadnezzar had taken from the temple which had been in Jerusalem, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.
‎‎3 Then they brought the gold vessels that had been taken from the temple of the house of God which had been in Jerusalem; and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them.
‎‎4 They drank wine, and praised the gods of gold and silver, bronze and iron, wood and stone.
‎‎5 In the same hour the fingers of a man’s hand appeared and wrote opposite the lampstand on the plaster of the wall of the king’s palace; and the king saw the part of the hand that wrote.
‎‎6 Then the king’s countenance changed, and his thoughts troubled him, so that the joints of his hips were loosened and his knees knocked against each other.
‎‎7 The king cried aloud to bring in the astrologers, the Chaldeans, and the soothsayers. The king spoke, saying to the wise men of Babylon, “Whoever reads this writing, and tells me its interpretation, shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around his neck; and he shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”

‎‎8 Now all the king’s wise men came, but they could not read the writing, or make known to the king its interpretation.
‎‎9 Then King Belshazzar was greatly troubled, his countenance was changed, and his lords were astonished.
‎‎10 The queen, because of the words of the king and his lords, came to the banquet hall. The queen spoke, saying, “O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts trouble you, nor let your countenance change.
‎‎11 There is a man in your kingdom in whom is the Spirit of the Holy God. And in the days of your father, light and understanding and wisdom, like the wisdom of the gods, were found in him; and King Nebuchadnezzar your father—your father the king—made him chief of the magicians, astrologers, Chaldeans, and soothsayers.
‎‎12 Inasmuch as an excellent spirit, knowledge, understanding, interpreting dreams, solving riddles, and explaining enigmas were found in this Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let Daniel be called, and he will give the interpretation.”
‎‎13 Then Daniel was brought in before the king. The king spoke, and said to Daniel, “Are you that Daniel who is one of the captives from Judah, whom my father the king brought from Judah?
‎‎14 I have heard of you, that the Spirit of God is in you, and that light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you.
‎‎15 Now the wise men, the astrologers, have been brought in before me, that they should read this writing and make known to me its interpretation, but they could not give the interpretation of the thing.
‎‎16 And I have heard of you, that you can give interpretations and explain enigmas. Now if you can read the writing and make known to me its interpretation, you shall be clothed with purple and have a chain of gold around your neck, and shall be the third ruler in the kingdom.”
‎‎17 Then Daniel answered, and said before the king, “Let your gifts be for yourself, and give your rewards to another; yet I will read the writing to the king, and make known to him the interpretation.
‎‎18 O king, the Most High God gave Nebuchadnezzar your father a kingdom and majesty, glory and honor.
‎‎19 And because of the majesty that He gave him, all peoples, nations, and languages trembled and feared before him. Whomever he wished, he executed; whomever he wished, he kept alive; whomever he wished, he set up; and whomever he wished, he put down.
‎‎20 But when his heart was lifted up, and his spirit was hardened in pride, he was deposed from his kingly throne, and they took his glory from him.
‎‎21 Then he was driven from the sons of men, his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild donkeys. They fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven, till he knew that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men, and appoints over it whomever He chooses.
‎‎22 “But you his son, Belshazzar, have not humbled your heart, although you knew all this.
‎‎23 And you have lifted yourself up against the Lord of heaven. They have brought the vessels of His house before you, and you and your lords, your wives and your concubines, have drunk wine from them. And you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.
‎‎24 Then the fingers of the hand were sent from Him, and this writing was written.
‎‎25 “And this is the inscription that was written: MENE, MENE, TEKEL, UPHARSIN
‎‎26 This is the interpretation of each word. MENE: God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it;
‎‎27 TEKEL: You have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting;
‎‎28 PERES: Your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
‎‎29 Then Belshazzar gave the command, and they clothed Daniel with purple and put a chain of gold around his neck, and made a proclamation concerning him that he should be the third ruler in the kingdom.
‎‎30 That very night Belshazzar, king of the Chaldeans, was slain.
‎‎31 And Darius the Mede received the kingdom, being about sixty-two years old.

I have a few questions for Cycel,

I know you are an atheist, but I must ask since I myself do not know, why do you come on to this site to chat with Christians? Are you somewhat drawn to talk to us? You can be completely honest if that's true.

I am starting to ask myself the same question. Part of it is I want to correct misunderstandings, and there are many. Another part of it is that I simply enjoy the debate.

I should apologize first to Spokenpassage for the inadequate nature of my reply. I've answered this question in the past with much greater enthusiasm.

As for your suggestion, I am afraid you are way off the mark. Science, for me, has all the big answers. Though maybe that is not what you meant? If you are hinting that something is missing in my life that only religion can fill, and that's what draws me, you would be wrong.

I've looked for him Homeward, but I couldn't locate him. I am often told that God reveals himself. Certainly many believers think they've spotted him, but I often wonder if one must first believe in order to see?

Cycel I would like to enter in here and say no you do not have to believe first to see Him. There are reports of non-believers world wide all of a sudden starting to have visions of our Lord.

Believing certainly helps. Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.

Yes, what makes an atheist, an atheist? It is curious to note, that so many atheists "of note" are Jews.
Studies have shown that the rate of atheism rises with increased levels of education. Jews often are well educated, and certainly your Jews of note are probably better educated. Further to that, men are more likely to be atheists than women, and whites are more likely to be atheists than blacks. Perhaps it is all tied to education.
