Your Word for Today

“And the Earth was without form, and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters (Gen. 1:2).

The darkness that was here prevalent was taken away only by the “Spirit of God,” as He “moved upon the face of the waters.” As someone has well said, “The Moving of the Holy Spirit is the first sign of life.”

There is a darkness in the heart and life of every unbeliever. Regrettably, there is also a “darkness” in the hearts and lives of many Believers, because of wrong direction, erroneous doctrine, or failing to take advantage of God’s Prescribed Order of Victory.

That “darkness” cannot be removed by humanistic psychology, by therapy, by a change of environment or scenery, or, in fact, by anything that man has to offer. But it can be removed!

Actually, the “darkness” that invades the soul of a man, bringing about guilt and condemnation, can only be moved by the same manner in which God addressed the problem at the beginning of time. The Spirit of God moved, “And God said, Let there be light: and there was light” (Gen. 1:3).

That “Light” resides in Christ, for He said, “I am the Light of the world” (Jn. 8:12).

When you, as a Believer, put your Faith exclusively in Christ and what He has done for you at the Cross, the Holy Spirit will then move upon you, even as He did upon the “face of the waters” so long, long ago, and the darkness will go. It will be replaced by Light.

While it is the Holy Spirit Who will carry out the work, it is all through what Christ did for you at the Cross, which requires your Faith in that Finished Work.

At the very beginning, God gave the order. It is:

1. Darkness covers the unredeemed soul of man.
2. The Spirit of God moves upon the darkness of the unredeemed soul.
3. And God, said, “Let there be Light,” which redeems the soul.“

Bread Crumbs “True Faith” January 3

True biblical faith does not deny one’s need. Instead, true faith meets us at the point of our need. If I am sick, I do not lie about it. I take it to Jesus and claim my healing, based upon His finished work at Calvary. If there is a sin issue in my life, I do not ignore it or pretend that it does not exist. Instead, I acknowledge my problem and look to Calvary for forgiveness and deliverance. Faith does not guarantee the absence of problems, faith is the means by which I address the problems of my life. Real faith makes no promise that I will never encounter distress, heartache, or negative circumstances. Genuine faith must be utilized to help me travel through difficulties, wherever and whenever I encounter them. When I find myself in the fire or in the flood, true faith can stop the burn from the fire and lift me above the waves that I may not be drowned. And when the worst thing possible actually does happen, and the nightmare becomes a reality, true faith steps in and says, “God is still real, God still loves me, and His mercy endures for ever!” Have faith in God!

Romans 1:17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 30:22
For a servant when he reigneth; and a fool when he is filled with meat;

Three things that makes the earth tremble and shake, and four it cannot bear. The first being a servant reigning over his master, the second being a fool when he is full. These things represent things that are out of order, and when men are out of order, the earth is out of order. Again, we know according to the Word of God, that the earth is tied to man (2 Chronicles 7:14). When man lives out of order and in sin, the earth is out of order and reaps the results of that.

The Lord does everything that He does decently and in order. Although the Godhead is perfect in unity, being God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit, as these three are One, yet also there is order in their subordination. God the Father sent His Son under commandment to lay His life down (John 10:17-18), and Jesus taught us that He didn’t even speak unless He heard His Father (John 12:49-50). Also, The Holy Spirit only speaks that which He hears from Jesus (John 16:13). The cross of Jesus Christ brings all who place and maintain their faith there alone into the order of God for their lives. Compared to the order which God brings to our lives, everything else is futile!

Your Word for Today

“And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her seed; it shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel (Gen. 3:15).

This is the first mention of the Cross, although in shadow, after the Fall. The Lord told Satan through the serpent that victory would come by the “Seed of the woman.” Ironically, woman has no seed, with the exception of One, Who was the Lord Jesus Christ. Christ bruised the head of Satan, and did so at Calvary’s Cross. That’s where Satan was totally and completely defeated (Col. 2:14-15).

The “heel of Christ being bruised” concerned the suffering, humiliation, and shame of the Cross (Heb. 12:2).

So, as to exactly how the Lord would do this, we now know after the fact; however, at the time that the Lord related this word to Satan, the Evil One knew that a Redeemer would be brought into the world through a woman, but no more information was given regarding how the Redemption would be effected.

God, however, keeps His Promises. For every person who will believe, and irrespective as to who that person is or what they have done, this which the Lord told Satan so long, long ago is now an accomplished fact. Satan’s head was bruised at the Cross, and at great price, we might quickly add.

But here is the clincher:

All of it was done for you and me. Considering that, it is incumbent upon us to have the Blessing which the Cross affords. It is done simply by Faith, which pertains to placing our Faith exclusively in Christ and what He did for us at the Cross, and not allowing our Faith to be moved elsewhere. That is the secret of all blessings (Eph. 2:13-18).“

“Purpose for Bread Crumbs”

It does not always take an entire sermon or lengthy blog to lead a person into the proper ways of the Lord. At times, it is a short simple word that can best help establish the proper direction, attitude, or action in the life of either the saved or the lost. Just one crumb from the Master’s table can prove sufficient to correct or encourage any one whose heart is ready to receive. So follow the trail of “Bread Crumbs” from God’s Word and let His truth bring you into the fullness of all that Christ Jesus has reserved for you. Also, if these “Bread Crumbs” are helpful to you, please feel free to “share” them with others.

Luke 4:4 - And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 30:23
For an odious woman when she is married; and an handmaid that is heir to her mistress.

An odious woman, which is a hateful woman, when she is married, will remain hateful, and the handmaiden that is heir to her mistress will both be out of order and the knowledge to function properly will not be gained simply because one is married or one steps into a position over her mistress. Many are out of order and in positions the Lord never gave them. These things are things that cause turmoil even in the earth (v. 21). These things cause the earth to be disquieted, as man cannot function for the glory of God when he is out of order.

Think of how many pulpits are filled with men who were called by their family, or their friends, or simply because they can speak well before people. Many people can speak well. God sends those who preach the gospel of Jesus Christ, for that message is the only message that allows the Holy Spirit to remove the turmoil that sin causes, and that brings the daily provision the church desperately needs.

Your Word for Today

“Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them (Gen. 3:21).

Immediately after the Fall, Adam and Eve lost the light which had enswathed them before the Fall; they are now naked, and more than all naked to the Judgment of God (Gen. 3:7). As a result, they “sewed fig leaves together and made themselves aprons.”

Regrettably, man has been trying to cover his spiritual nakedness with fig leaves from then until now.

When they finally had to answer to the Lord, the Bible tells us that the LORD God “made coats of skins, and clothed them.” For this to be done, the Lord had to kill one or more animals, which necessitated blood being shed. The skins were then taken from these animals and used to supply clothing or a covering for Adam and Eve.

The death of the animal or animals was the first symbol of Christ, Who would give His Life in order to cover the sins of man.

And let the Reader understand:

Anything man attempts to use to cover his sins, other than the Precious Shed Blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, is looked at by God as “fig leaves,” rating it totally unacceptable. The Blood of Jesus Christ alone can cleanse from all sin, which then makes possible the Righteousness of God as a covering — all made possible by the Cross (I Jn. 1:7).”

Bread Crumbs “It Gets Sweeter" January 4

Just about the time you don't think living for God could get any better, God brings forth an unexpected blessing and it gets better. Just about the time that you think that God has blessed you as much as possible, He moves in a special way and causes His divine favor to bring forth a unique miracle that adds pleasures to your life. I look back on where the Lord has brought me from and I am totally amazed. You'll just have to put up with me as I feel the need to testify to the goodness and the graciousness of my God. He has given me a new life, taught me how to walk in the Spirit, given me the best wife in the whole world, and four children that love Him. He has given me the opportunity to share the gospel, literally, all around the world. The devil likes to lie to us and tell us that the Lord can only take us so far or so high. But I'm sitting here rejoicing in the presence of the Lord, knowing that there are things He has in store for me that eye has not seen and ear has not heard. I hope you hear the shout in my voice! He is a good God!

Isaiah 65:23 They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.

What do these endless cut-n-pastes have to do with the OP? Not even sure what the OP is about but none of these posts seem to be related to Jacob, a heel-catcher (whatever that is) and spiritual adultery. Again, based on the scarce replies, no one is reading this stuff. It would be more relevant if it were written in your own words. This thread, as it is comprised, is not spiritually edifying, at least not to me, and as such, is a total waste of time.

Bread Crumbs “What God Speaks” January 5

In the last thirty to fifty years there has been a lot of teaching about confession. Some of the teaching is biblical and some of it is not. I do believe that the Saint of God ought to line up his speech with the Word of God. I believe that there should be a proper expression of faith in that which God proclaims. There is also the case where God speaks something special and unique to the heart of an individual. In this instance, there may come a time when it is appropriate to clearly and publicly declare what it is that you feel God has spoken to you. Proper biblical confession is a response to what God has said; either a clear promise in His Word given to all or a specific promise given to the individual. A wrong use of the confession principle is being utilized today by men and women who feel they have the same creative power as God Himself. This is just not so! We must never lose the distinction that God is the Creator and we forever remain the creation. Whatever God initiates and says will never return to Him void. Most of the foolish and selfish designs that proceed out of men’s minds and mouths will.

Isaiah 55:11 - So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 30:24
There be four things which are little upon the earth, but they are exceeding wise:

God uses small things to show His wisdom, which is the wisdom we should be after. Size and amount have nothing to do with faith or wisdom. It is us who are growing in the faith or weak in the faith (Romans 14:1). It’s not the biggest and strongest who have the wisdom of God, but those who have Christ and are walking “In Him” (Colossians 2:6).

All the treasures of God’s wisdom are found exclusively “In Christ” which means through faith in His death at Calvary (Colossians 2:2-3). We will see in God’s Word that which seems to be small to man is sometimes exceeding wise in the eyes of our faithful God! The cross looked like a small thing. It appeared to be the end of a man who had large claims but ended up appearing as small and nothing. The Truth is that which appeared to be nothing was everything, it appeared to be small but was HUGE, it appeared to be the end but became the beginning, it appeared to be His defeat, but was actually His victory over everything that would ever attempt to stand against God and His people. Let us continue to stand with our God and Savior at the foot of the cross!

Your Word for Today

“And in process of time it came to pass, that Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an offering unto the LORD. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the LORD had respect unto Abel and to his offering: But unto Cain and to his offering He had not respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his countenance fell (Gen. 4:3-5).

There is no difference between the two brothers, Cain and Abel, but an eternal difference between their sacrifices. They are both corrupt branches of a decayed tree, both born outside Eden, both guilty, both sinners, no moral difference, and both sentenced to death.

The words, “by faith” (Heb. 11:4), teach that God had revealed a way of approach to Himself (Rom. 10:17). Abel accepts this way; Cain rejects it.

Abel’s Altar speaks of Repentance, of Faith, and of the Precious Blood of Christ, the Lamb of God without blemish. Cain’s altar tells of pride, unbelief, and self-righteousness. Abel’s Altar is beautiful to God’s eye and repulsive to man’s; Cain’s altar, beautiful to man’s eye and repulsive to God’s.

These “altars” exist today. Around the one, that is, Christ and His Atoning Work, few are gathered; around the other, many. God accepts the slain lamb and rejects the offered fruit; the offering being rejected, so, of necessity, is the offeror.

We must ever understand that God looks at the sinner not at all, because there is no point. He knows instantly what the sinner is. He looks at the Offering, and the only Offering that He will accept is the Sacrifice of Christ. Any other offering is immediately rejected!

The only way to God is through Jesus Christ (Jn. 14:6).
The only way to Jesus Christ is through the Cross (Lk. 9:23).
The only way to the Cross is by an abnegation of self (Lk. 9:23).”

Bread Crumbs “My Spiritual Birthday” January 6

On January 6, 1986, I accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour. It happened around 2:00 AM. I had been ingesting all manner of drugs and alcohol for the previous three days. A can of Bush beer was on the stand by my living room chair. The joints were pre-rolled and ready to smoke. I was bored and “wired” with nothing to do. I viewed the Bible, long unused, positioned as a display on my fireplace hearth. For no reason known to me, I decided to open the Bible to the book of Proverbs. When I read Proverbs 1:7, the convicting power of the Holy Spirit swept into the room. By the time I finished reading Proverbs chapter six, God’s Spirit had convinced me that my addictions were a result of my lifted fist towards God’s purpose and design for my life. That night I gave myself to the Lord, His will, His Word, His Way. I will never know exactly why God did what He did that night or why He has done all that He has done for me since. But through it all, I have never, no not for a moment, regretted the decision I made that night to give my heart to Jesus. Isn’t it time for you to surrender too?

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 30:25
The ants are a people not strong, yet they prepare their meat in the summer;

The first reference listed by the Lord to be little upon the earth yet exceedingly wise is the ant. The ant has enough wisdom to prepare their meat in the summer so that they will have what they need in the winter. I hate to admit it, but ants have more wisdom than a lot of people, and that is unfortunate, because we were created in the very image of God. We have an opportunity to choose Christ as our Lord and Savior, and as we do, we can be forgiven of our sins and learn to work just as the ants to provide for our families and ourselves.

If we are looking for the wisdom of God to be in our lives, we must look to the cross of Jesus Christ, for there we will find it. One might say God’s Word is God’s Wisdom and that is very true, but the application of God’s Word doesn’t take place without one’s faith being in the Living Word (John 1:14), Jesus Christ, and His work at Calvary (Psalm 33:4, Romans 8:2). Without faith in the cross, we are without the wisdom that is exclusively found through faith in Him (1 Corinthians 2:6-8). We will either be found contending for this great faith we have, or pretending because we are no longer in it. “The Way of Life is above to the wise.”

Your Word for Today

“And Noah built an Altar unto the LORD; and took of every clean beast, and of every clean fowl, and offered Burnt Offerings on the Altar. And the LORD smelled the sweet savor . . . (Gen. 8:20-21).

Noah built an Altar and worshipped; not the Altar, but God. The Altar was the instrument of his Salvation, as the Cross was Paul’s, and of every other Believer who has ever lived. But the Apostle did not worship the Cross, as multitudes do today, but worshipped Him Who died upon it.

The “Altar” built by Noah and the sacrifices offered upon it were symbols of Christ and what He would do to redeem the lost sons of Adam’s fallen race. When Noah offered up his sacrifices, even as commanded by the Lord, the Scripture says that “the LORD smelled a sweet savor.”

What could have been “sweet” about the carcass of an animal being burned to a crisp on an Altar?

The “sweet savor” had to do with what it represented, which was the Coming Redeemer, Whose Coming and Sacrifice of Himself would redeem fallen humanity.

Let the Reader understand:

The Lord “smells a sweet savor” only as it regards our Faith in Christ and what He did for us at the Cross. This means that everything else is repugnant to Him, coming up rather as a “stink” in His nostrils.

That rules out every fad, every scheme, anything and everything for that matter, which is not anchored solely in “Jesus Christ and Him Crucified” (I Cor. 1:23).

Every single Believer should, therefore, check very carefully as to what his Pastor is preaching, or his favorite TV Evangelist, etc. If he or she is not preaching the Cross, there is no “sweet savor” going up to the Lord, but something else entirely!”

Bread Crumbs “Hiding From God” January 7

Most of mankind is hiding from God. Sin is the reason why. Mankind is shamed by their sinful state and does not want to stand “eyeball to eyeball” with God. The ways of hiding from God are multiple and numerous; some of which are not even obvious to the one attempting to hide. Some men hide from God by pretending He does not exist. Others hide by manufacturing, producing, and following their own version of God. Some men hide through the practice of religious activity. Religious activity, minus a true relationship with God, will often be the breeding grounds for self sufficient thinking and dark deception. But God demands that genuine believers experience the “perfection” of true religion which is found only by accepting Jesus Christ as Saviour. This is the person who realizes they are guilty of sin and that they cannot save themselves. As the Holy Spirit beckons to them, they surrender their hearts and lives to Christ and joyfully discover that hiding is no longer necessary. What sweet fellowship there is between God and the truly born-again man! That man will find that there is no need to hide from God any longer because the enmity between God and himself has been assuaged by simple faith in Christ Jesus.

Genesis 3:8 - And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden.

The Miracle of God’s Word

Proverbs 30:26
The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

The conie is the rock badger and very feeble, yet they are wise enough to make their houses in the rocks for protection from the elements and the enemy. This is the second of God’s listing of things that are small, but wise, in an attempt to let us see that if wisdom can be seen among the small things, then we as God’s people surely have access to His wisdom, for we were created in His image.

Access to God’s wisdom comes only from above (James 3:17-18) as we place and maintain our faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. Never forget that if we have the wisdom of God, it will be imparted by the Holy Spirit, who has the legal right to give it to us because of our faith in the legal declaration from the Lord at the cross. The preaching of the cross is not only the power of God, but also the wisdom of God (1 Corinthians 1:18-24). Keep clinging to that nail scarred hand and you can walk in the Life that is above for the wise (Proverbs 15:24).

Your Word for Today

“And the LORD appeared unto Abram, and said, Unto your seed will I give this land: and there built he an Altar unto the LORD, Who appeared unto him (Gen. 12:7).

Abraham is referred to as the “Altar builder.” Why did he build so many Altars?

Whenever the Lord spoke to Abraham, and Abraham heard and yielded, which was the moment of his conversion, the Lord also made it very clear to Abraham as to the manner in which man was to approach God. It only could be through the sacrifice of a clean animal, which necessitated the shedding of blood, all which symbolized Christ. That was the only way that God could converse with man — any man. God accepts nothing from humanity except it comes by the way of the Cross.

That’s the reason that Abraham had to build a new Altar everywhere he went. There was no other way to converse with the Lord.

It has not changed even unto this moment. Man can come to God only by the way of the Cross (I Cor. 2:2).

This means if the Church is not preaching the Cross, then whatever that particular Church is doing is totally unacceptable to God. This means every person who attends such a Church, for whatever reason they are attending, is not attending for the Lord, but for something else entirely. Such a course spells disaster!

Find a Church which “builds the Altar,” i.e., “trusts in Christ and what He did at the Cross”; there life and victory will be found (I Cor. 1:17-18, 21, 23; 2:2).”
