See that giant standing nine feet tall. He towers over you scowling, armor in place, weapons threatening. You stand fixated, doing nothing; that giant has taken away your heart and spirit like breath expelled by a forceful blow to the stomach. However, let me remind you of a few biblical facts regarding the spiritual war you find yourself in. The Bible tells us that, “The weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds.” And again, “Greater is He that is in you then he that is in the world.” And again, “Sin shall not have dominion over you! “ All these are the promises of God! All these show that there is forever a solution against the impassable force, the dominating fact, and the overwhelming oppression that opposes you as a believer. Satan is a liar. His defeat is accomplished and his demise lies just ahead. Your heavenly David has already defeated that spiritual Goliath. We walk in His victory, in His strength, and in His Power. All the while, nestled in the palm of your hand rests a rock given to you by the Lord. Why are you trembling, cowering in fear and despair? Silly Christian! Rocks are for giants! By faith, Let her fly!
1 Samuel 17:50 - So David prevailed over the Philistine with a sling and with a stone, and smote the Philistine, and slew him; but there was no sword in the hand of David.
Philippians 4:18
But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, well pleasing to God.
Notice here The Holy Spirit through the Apostle Paul reveals to us that when we support, NOT just a local church, but the message of the cross, which is the gospel of Jesus Christ, and the furtherance of THAT message, it will be used to allow the minister to abound, to be full, and it will be an aroma of a sweet smell of an acceptable sacrifice pleasing to God! We need to make sure we are not just paying bills at a local church, but rather striving for the faith of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, and when the Bible is opened, He is the One being revealed with His mission at hand to be carried out by EVERYONE of us!
Those in the body of Christ who the Lord is able to bring back to faith in His work at Calvary alone will find the place where they can abide satisfied (Proverbs 19:23). When we look back at Exodus Chapter 32, we see that only one tribe of twelve walked away from their own self righteous idol building bondage. Just one! It is the same today! There is a way that seems right to man, but the end of that way is death (Proverbs 14:12, 16:25). There is only one Way that God sees as right for ALL men, and that is the Way of His Son, Jesus Christ, The Way of Righteousness, that being the Way of the Cross! Those who are a part of THAT faith, are supporting THAT faith! Thank God for the Church of Philippi and people like Epaphroditus who’s mission was to continue publishing the message of the cross!

Too many people are attempting to earn what God has richly prepared and desires to freely and graciously give. Some are seeking salvation through good deeds; assuring themselves that the good they are doing is sufficient to gain access to heaven. Most people (without really keeping an accurate record) feel that the good things they have done in their lives will surely out weigh the evil. Some Christians, after being saved by faith, have determined to pay the price of rituals, routines, or assorted religious activities that they believe will transform them into the image of Christ. God’s redemption plan does not depend upon the meager efforts of mortal man. Neither does the Biblical process of progressive sanctification rely upon the misguided efforts of the religious zealot. Both salvation and sanctification are a work of God upon man. Mankind is instructed to place their faith in Christ and Him Crucified. God then does what we cannot. So if you are struggling to change yourself, stop and surrender to the truth of God’s Word. Trust entirely upon Christ’s work on the Cross. Then watch in amazement as the Holy Spirit takes over and does what only He can do. It is past time you found the rest that comes in Christ.
Titus 3:5 - Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
Philippians 4:19
But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
No one has ever worked their way into Salvation, but once one is born again (John 3:3-5), the works are many and all In Christ (Ephesians 2:10). The process is called “By Grace Through Faith.” The more this process is experienced, the more blessed is the experience with the Lord! I cannot just open God’s Word and declare a bible verse over my life if I do not understand what that bible verse means, and the context in which it was written. This is what the Church has done for decades if not centuries, and has been greatly limited. The verse before this one describes that which is a well pleasing and sweet smelling, sacrificial offering to the Lord, which was the provision sent from the Philippians for the Mission of the Apostle Paul.
The mission is to see the lost saved and the saved living saved with the fruit being that of Christ by His Spirit for the Glory of our faithful God! In this bible verse we see the faithfulness of our God who has obligated Himself to supply all our needs! His provision is endless and abundant because it is according to His riches in glory! Here’s the part we’ve NOT understood for so long as the Church. “By Christ Jesus” ALWAYS refers to our faith in His work for us at Calvary, for it is there alone through which we have been immersed into Christ (Romans 6:3), and there alone that we walk In Him (Colossians 2:6). When our faith remains In Christ and His work at the cross, the Mission remains intact as well as the provision for the Mission!

Grace through faith is the only process by which God works in an individual’s life. Grace is not one of many processes by which God works but rather it is the only process by which God participates with the human race. God will not allow us to earn, work for, labour, or bargain for His grace; that would invalidate the very meaning of the word. Help from God that is not freely received and freely given does not qualify as grace. One aspect of the grace of God towards man is the moving and operation of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit operates in the earth today as the spiritual overseer of God's redemption plan. He is here to both distribute and oversee the benefits available to the human race for which Christ died on Calvary. The Holy Spirit has the potential to bring to us everything that Christ’s death paid for. This “grace” will only flow unhindered and free when the believer’s faith is placed in the proper biblically designated object, the person and work of Christ. Therefore, true Bible faith will always maintain Christ and His finished work as its object. Faith in anything else is faith that God will neither recognize nor honor.
Romans 4:16 - Therefore it is of faith, that it might be by grace; to the end the promise might be sure to all the seed; not to that only which is of the law, but to that also which is of the faith of Abraham; who is the father of us all,
Philippians 4:20
Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.
The Child of God’s life should be that which is daily becoming the gospel of Jesus Christ (Philippians 1:27), for through their faith in Christ and His Sacrifice alone can God be glorified in and through their lives. When one’s faith is in something other than Jesus and what He did at Calvary, it is not that which God gave man to trust in for grace, therefore he can not be glorified in and through the Believer. Never forget the Fall of man was in the Garden of Eden, but the Rise of man was at the Resurrection of Christ exclusively due to His atonement for sin!
May we all be found coming to God daily through faith in Christ and His Sacrifice for us on the cross. Jesus Christ is the Door (John 10:7), but the cross is the hinge which opens the door (Romans 8:3, Hebrews 10:20). This not only speaks to the lost pertaining to the ONLY way into Christ by Grace through faith for initial Salvation, but also daily (Luke 9:23) for the Christian to be able to be found humble to receive ‘more grace’ (James 4:6) to run the race (Hebrews 12:1). We no longer have to be confused and wonder why things aren’t working out for us if we are looking to the cross, for there it seemed everything was falling apart, but truly there is where everything fell into place for us! Glory to God and the Lamb forever!

Faith must make its journey from the head to the heart. The truths that we hear and initially believe must be tested as to their genuineness. If they pass the test, then we have faith that can be put to use in our everyday life. If faith is not genuine and secured in the heart, it will not endure the rigors of the test and will fade away under the pressure brought against it. To the believer, this is known as the trial of our faith. The test usually comes as a gut wrenching, heart crumpling, mind blowing event, or perhaps through a series of events. These may seem both impossible to bear up under and more than just a little unfair. But as always, God is working something together for our good. He is building something that will last, something that will assist us through our long and difficult journey on earth. If need be, if He deems it best, this trial may be lengthy and exhausting. But as the song says, in the end, it will be worth it all. So hold out and hang on! God is doing something great! Always remember, the greatest opposition always comes right before the greatest blessing.
1 Peter 5:10 - But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
Philippians 4:21
Salute every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren which are with me greet you.
At the heart of Christianity is the love of God that was shed abroad in every one of our hearts (Romans 5:5) as believers, and when faith is alive, it is working for us toward others in love. The measure of faith we were given (Romans 12:3) upon our trusting in Christ and His atoning work at the cross for the forgiveness of our sins, works by THAT love (Galatians 2:20, 5:6), or it isn’t working in a way that will please and glorify our faithful Lord! The desire to be with God’s people in worship, prayer and ministry is in the heart of all God’s people.
God is love (1 John 4:8,16), therefore when faith is working through our trust in the cross of Christ, it is God working on our behalf (Philippians 2:13), and THIS is the process of “By Grace through Faith.” Outside this process is only our flesh, in which there is NO good thing (Romans 7:18). Come back to the cross today and you will find yourselves planted in the house of the Lord where the message is truly of God’s love, the message of the cross, and that love which God shed abroad in our hearts will come alive once again. The desire for fellowship with God’s people will be there once again, and God is faithful to plant us in the house of the Lord that we might flourish in His courts (Psalm 92:13).

When I consider the Cross of Jesus Christ, I see both the event that took place as well as the results of that event. Not only was I saved from the penalty of sin as a result of Calvary, but the entirety of the benefits earned by Christ’s sacrifice were placed ”in His riches in glory” and became the sum total of my inheritance. At the cross, Jesus provided me with treasures both physical and spiritual. These blessing are of such magnitude that no man’s natural inheritance could ever equal the limitless supply of that which is available in Christ. Everything you would ever need in this lifetime and throughout eternity exists in the provision of “His riches in glory.” Jesus went to Calvary once to establish these benefits. He does not have to worry about replenishing these benefits because they are so extensive that they could never be used up or depleted. They will never become corrupted or decayed. No being will ever break in and steal the treasures of your inheritance as they are guarded by God Himself. I travel to Calvary time and again, day after day, and need after need. By faith I lay claim to the blessed results of Christ's Finished Work. Let me boast in nothing but the Cross!
Philippians 4:19 - But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:22
All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Caesar's household.
Not only did the Apostle Paul tell those in Philippi to greet everyone for them, but also sends greetings from all the saints there in his region who had come to Christ, and ESPECIALLY those who are of Caesar’s household. That could have been Caesar’s soldiers, his family, or both but nevertheless they had come to Christ and were very thankful and zealous for Christ! For those who cling to the Word of the Truth of the Gospel (Colossians 1:5), there will be unity, and a zeal for good works found In Christ (Titus 2:11-14).
The Grace of God produces in the believer a zealousness for good works (Philippians 2:13, Titus 2:14), and the grace of God is only offered and imparted to the humble (James 4:6), which are those who are trusting in the humble obedience of Christ’s work at the Cross. When our faith returns to the cross and remains there alone, the Lord will once again be able to bring about all that we have known should have been taking place all along, even the unity and desire to be with those of ‘Like Precious Faith’ (2 Peter 1:1). Have you lost your zeal for good works? Faith in the One who through His zeal to finish the work of His Father will allow Him to impart that zeal once again into your heart! Today is the day for you!
