I think this is over the top, I seriously doubt she really needs this kind of lifestyle but I guess to be effective in the Word Faith movement it goes a long way to prove your point about "positive confession" to your followers. Probably wouldn't look good if she was living in middle class suburbia. Reminds me of the Bakker era.

“Since 1999, the ministry has spent at least $4 million on five homes for Meyer and her four children near Interstate 270 and Gravois Road, St. Louis County records show. Meyer’s house, the largest of the five, is a 10,000-square-foot Cape Cod style estate home with a guest house and a garage that can be independently heated and cooled and can hold up to eight cars. The three-acre property has a large fountain, a gazebo, a private putting green, a pool and a poolhouse where the ministry recently added a $10,000 bathroom. The ministry pays for utilities, maintenance and landscaping costs at all five homes. It also pays for renovations… Even the property taxes, $15, 629 this year, are paid by the ministry.”[79]

Is Joyce Meyer Word of Faith?

``If you stay in your faith, you are going to get paid,'' Meyer told an audience in Detroit in September. ``I'm living now in my reward.''

https://web.archive.org/web/2006111...emeyer.nsf/0/18C14871599F61AC86256DDD0081B42B?

She says: "I'm living now in my reward.''?

And I thought we were rewarded when we stood at the Judgement Seat of Christ. Who knew?
If that is how she feels she needs to live then so be it. The question is, is she putting this above God? If I had 1 billion dollars but spend 90% of my time serving God then is it wrong to have 1 billion dollars? Is it more wrong for someone who only makes 30 thousand dollars and only gives God 10% of their time? Why aren't you head hunting the people who claim to be Christian but don't donate money to the poor or money to the Church?

We can sit here all day long and find faults in these ministers who are making more than us. I would rather see Christians making millions of dollars to help others then these movie stars and musicians who worship money. I really think you are attacking the wrong person.

There is a nice and proper balance between poverty and a two million dollar home.

But don't take my word for it.

Jesus Counsels the Rich Young Ruler

[SUP]16 [/SUP]Now behold, one came and said to Him, “Good[SUP][e][/SUP] Teacher, what good thing shall I do that I may have eternal life?”
[SUP]17 [/SUP]So He said to him, “Why do you call Me good?[SUP][f][/SUP] No one is good but One, that is, God.[SUP][g][/SUP] But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments.”
[SUP]18 [/SUP]He said to Him, “Which ones?”
Jesus said, “‘You shall not murder,’ ‘You shall not commit adultery,’ ‘You shall not steal,’ ‘You shall not bear false witness,’ [SUP]19 [/SUP]‘Honor your father and your mother,’[SUP][h][/SUP] and, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ ”[SUP][i][/SUP]
[SUP]20 [/SUP]The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth.[SUP][j][/SUP] What do I still lack?”
[SUP]21 [/SUP]Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
[SUP]22 [/SUP]But when the young man heard that saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Yeah he put money over God. You are saying Joyce Meyer is putting money over God? Prove it.

Come on folks. A twenty three thousand dollar toilet tells it all. That stinks!
Maybe she poops a lot and really needs something that is going to last?

Basicly what she is saying is we are in control when she says we can "prophecy our furture". It's believing we can order God around. I knew a woman that was into Joel Osteen's teachings and she flat told me one day that God would give her anything she wanted! It's like my quote from Isaiah 30, they want to be told "smooth" things, the carnal mind wants what it wants.

Ya...I see your point. It can come across as prosperity doctrine. I think in a way she is right. We are commanded in scripture to think about the good....because good thinking precedes a good countenance....and a good countenance precedes successful endeavor. Would;t you agree?

"succesful endeavor"? Not according to Woffers and Word Faith is the topic, all you gotta do is tell God what you want and {{{{He}}} does it.

I said no such thing. My oh my, you sure are defensive. I simply stated a fact and somehow it got your panties all bound up in a twirl. You must being feeling guilty over something.

Pray for release and rejoice. Get it? Re-Joyce. ha ha!

i told you why I don't listen to her. I think she reminds me of someone who was mean to me when I was a child. Lol. Maybe I got my mouth washed out with soap or something. Lol
That is sad, and you miss out on certain blessing in that opinion. Do you not think that in your heart of hearts that the enemy enjoys causing this memory to taint your feelings toward a sister in Christ?

I mean no offense to you or Joyce....I did defend her on this thread too btw. I just prefer other teachers and pastors etc. kinda no different than choosing a church.

A history of Joyce and Dave is an interesting read. For decades, they struggled, hardly even having money to pay for gas in their old van at times. Holding Bible studies on the floor of their living room.

I don't doubt (considering the kind of "redneck" that she is), she may have bought some pretty foolish things in her life, as she began to make some money from her tapes and books. I guess a lot of people with poor beginnings tend to do that. But a $23,000 toilet? Use your head...... It was probably a bathroom overhaul. (Which, being a GC, I can tell you is not out of line.)
What they saved for and purchased was a commode---not a toilet! A commode is a small dresser with drawers. It was an antique and had a gold inlay. For heaven's sake, folks! If you have written best sellers, you'd have money, too. But would money have you? Joyce and Dave do not live for money. They live for God.

I used to think that her teachings were basically sound until I herd her try to 'teach' her audience how to speak in tongues. I don't believe the Holy Spirit works that way! In fact, I am sufficiently sure that the Holy Spirit does not work that way; that I believe the attempt to pervert His role disqualifies her to teach.
It was at a Joyce Meyer conference that I received the gift of tongues. I am grateful to her for her ministry, which has yielded a huge harvest of fruit.

BTW, Huge Joyce Myer fan, here. If it were not for her ministry, I might not be alive today.

I'm glad that she helped you get through your dark time. She deserves praise too.

It's very comforting that she talks about her abusive father. It shows people that you can get through the dark times in life. While I'm not a huge fan, I do like her. And I'm a man. Do you guys think it's weird for men to like her? I DON'T THINK SO!!!!!
