To be honest, I've not read much by Joyce Meyer. She never struck me as genuine, but when I saw this quote "shared" on my cousin's facebook page, I realized how false her teaching is.

"The amount of mercy you give other people is the amount of mercy that's going to come back to you. There's a lot of people in the world that are lost. They feel invisible and need prayer a lot more than they need criticism and judgment."

The fact that we get back the amount of mercy we show is patently FALSE and unbiblical. Mercy is not like karma! Our faith is not a works-based tit-for-tat. And how could we EVER show God the mercy He has shown us? (And why would we ever need to show God mercy as He is perfect?)

Wow... just ... wow
Interesting, I do not know what Joyce says, but Jesus said this in Luke 6.35-38?

[SUP]35 [/SUP]But love your enemies, and do good, and lend, [SUP][t][/SUP]expecting nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High; for He Himself is kind to ungrateful and evil men. [SUP]36 [/SUP][SUP][u][/SUP]Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful. [SUP]37 [/SUP]“Do not judge, and you will not be judged; and do not condemn, and you will not be condemned; [SUP][v][/SUP]pardon, and you will be pardoned. [SUP]38 [/SUP]Give, and it will be given to you. They will [SUP][w][/SUP]pour into your lap a good measure—pressed down, shaken together, and running over. For by your standard of measure it will be measured to you in return.”

Seems to me Jesus agrees with Joyce here.

Joyce Meyer is a "Word Faith" teacher.

It teaches: God created man in "God's class" (or, as "little gods"), with the potential to exercise the "God kind of faith" in calling things into existence and living in prosperity and success as sovereign beings.

We forfeited this opportunity, by rebelling against God in the Garden and taking upon ourselves Satan's nature. To correct this situation, Jesus Christ became a man, died spiritually (thus taking upon Himself Satan's nature), went to Hell, was "born again," rose from the dead with God's nature again, and then sent the Holy Spirit so that the Incarnation could be duplicated in believers, thus fulfilling their calling to be little gods.

Since we are called to experience this kind of life now, we should be successful in every area of our lives. To be in debt, then, or be sick, or (as is often taught) be left by one's spouse, and not to have these problems solved by "claiming" God's promises, shows a lack of faith.

Certain aspects of this doctrine can vary from teacher to teacher, but, the general outline remains the same in each case.

For her to say ""The amount of mercy you give other people is the amount of mercy that's going to come back to you" is nothing more than a word play on the Our Father in Matt.6. where it says: "And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors"

No Christian is forgiven on the basis of forgiving others, we are forgiven, and cleansed when we judge our own sins and confess it to Jesus.

For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offense, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God. Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved. 1Cor 10:30-33

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 1John 1:9

If our forgiveness is conditional on forgiving others then the atonement of Jesus Christ (which wasn't even accomplished when Jesus taught the Jews to pray the Our Father) is insufficient, for "forgiveness and remission" of sins which is part of the finished work of Jesus Christ in the believer.

In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins: Colossians 1:14

A Jew under Jesus's earthly ministry (The Our Father), optained forgiveness on a conditional basis.
Joyce Meyer is often lumped together with the WOF movement, but actually is not part of it.

Gloria Copeland? Yes, heavy WOF teacher.

you clearly need to keep your mouth shut, you have not described anything related to the WOF movement. We were WOF for years and you are just talking about something you have no clue about.

We do not agree with the WOF at all, but you have no clue.

Joyce Meyers is a false teacher. She does not know the Bible well, but also extends it to opinion and to conform with the heretical Word Faith Doctrines.

"There is no hope of anyone going to heaven unless they believe this truth I am presenting you. You cannot go to heaven unless you believe with all your heart that Jesus took your place in hell." The Most Important Decision You Will Ever Make: A Complete and Thorough Understanding of What it Means to Be Born Again, Joyce Meyers, (Fenton, MO: Life in the Word, 1991) 37.

This is the heretical doctrine that Jesus had to go into hell after the cross, when in fact he clearly said "Into your hands I commit my Spirit." Luke 23:46 And she continues in the same book that Jesus had to be born again! That he was the "first born again man."

She definitely believes in the "little gods' doctrine, and clearly says so in this link.

I don't really care how much she has influenced you or helped you, Joyce Meyer teaches unbiblical doctrine. I have lots more, if you want me to type it all out!

BTW, Huge Joyce Myer fan, here. If it were not for her ministry, I might not be alive today.
I certainly do not agree with everything in her ministry, but I do believe she has helped many people

I would not strike a line through her name and I have no problem striking a line through quite a few WOF teachers

and no I don't believe in the little god teaching

I have to laugh. I was listening to Sirius radio and thought the person speaking was a guy and it ended up being Joyce. Before I knew it was Joyce I agreed with everything she said. This was like 5 mins ago

What a lie that Jesus went to hell, he was perfect.

Kenneth Haggin was considered to be the founder of the Word of Faith Movement but he was influenced by a man named Phineas Parkhurst Quimby (1802-1866). Phineas laid the foundations and was a Metaphysical Christian who inspired E.W. Kenyon who in return inspired Kenneth Haggin. E.W.Kenyon studied Mysticism and mingled Mystic and New Age theologies with Christian teachings.

Those that wish to paint her evil, should also read her testimony.
She was sexually and physically abused by her step Dad from 12 until 18 and also by his friends. She was Gang raped many times during the week. Her Mother allowed the beatings and rapes to happen to keep "peace" in the house. Former smoker, drinker and hell raiser. She was not raised in the church at all. She forgave her Mom and step dad and they lived wiht her and both came to Jesus, through Joyce's ability to forgive them both.

Her husband Dave constantly fought, nearly divorced in the early days. Joyce worked through her offense, hurt and bitterness with the Help of Jesus. I do not look at her blessings, I look at what she gives. She gives more than she brings in routinely, she is as large a giver/blesser as Robert Morris is.

That kind of darkness and that kind of forgiveness does not prove true with a False Teacher. That is fruit that only Jesus produces!

Before throwing rocks, some of you should get to know the facts and not the rumors.

You can't copy and paste something from a book. I prefer to use books. They are usually vetted, have sources, footnotes, a Bibliography and are not just some random internet site that anyone could have posted.

Kenyon completely rejected Quimby in person and in his books. Hagin will give account as we all will. I cannot find much truth in the WOF movement.

Kenyon gets a lot of heat, because there have been allegations that his family claims Hagin stole his material and plagiarized it and made money of it.

Some of Kenyons books are straight out the Bible.

totally agree. People need to not judge her before getting to know her. She's been through more than most of us on the forums combined.

Ah OK, a Joyce Meyer book?
