Matthew 19:17 KJV
And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.

John 14:15 KJV
If ye love me, keep my commandments.

John 15:10 KJV
If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

1 John 2:3 KJV
And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.

1 John 3:22 KJV
And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.

1 John 5:2 KJV
By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

1 John 5:3 KJV
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

Revelation 12:17 KJV
And the dragon was wroth with the woman, and went to make war with the remnant of her seed, which keep the commandments of God, and have the testimony of Jesus Christ.

Revelation 14:12 KJV
Here is the patience of the saints: here are they that keep the commandments of God, and the faith of Jesus.

This is overwhelming evidence that the Bible says we are to keep the commandments. To say we do not have to keep the commandments is teaching against the clear word of God. The fact that we are saved by grace through faith does not release us from keeping the law.

Philippians 4:13 KJV
I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
John 15:4-5 KJV
(4) Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.
(5) I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.
In case everyone has forgotten the first post this is enough evidence that we are to keep the commandments of God. What are the commandments of God?
Deuteronomy 6:1 KJV
(1) Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the LORD your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it:

that passage is obviously NOT address to all people because God did not give all people a land for them to possess.

What are the commandments of GOD?

Matthew 22
[SUP]37 [/SUP]Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’[SUP][d][/SUP] [SUP]38 [/SUP]This is the first and great commandment. Love God = the first 4 Commandments

When Jesus said to love God and Love your neighbor, He was merely quoting the Old Testament. Somthing He did quite often.

pronouns like "this" and "it" are confusing could you clarify what you are referring to with those words? thanks.
learning to live like Christ.

that's not true Satan whispers lies into people's heads all the time. its one of the reason people are told to test the spirit. take captive their thoughts, tear down strongholds that war against the knowledge of Christ. to be tempted is not a sin, because Jesus was tempted in the desert and remained sinless.
1. I never claimed temptation was a sin

2. yes satan does tell us lies. But so do other people. if someone tells you to jump off a bridge are yu going to do it? it is no more different than falling for the lies of satan.

3. Your saying the law of faith will not help us live like Christ. that was a lie?? Thats funny, it is all over the NT.

4. I see where your saying temptation can come from satan and not law. the point i would like to make is even if satan temps. if our minds are on the spirit (resisting satan) we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, because our minds are not on these things. We can only be tempted when we are thinking or really want0 to do the thing we are tempted from. One can rarely ever be tempted to do something they would never do.

We need the law to give voice to what God has placed in our hearts and to see beyond what the world believes and thinks is right and true. The law if used lawfully is good. however, it is better to focus on what God wants us to do then our own failures. if we stumble we should repent and know that God has forgiven us. too often the Enemy tries to use our past failures to keep us from doing God's work in the present out of fear, disappointment, etc.
the law is good to bring us to Christ. Once we have repented and come to christ and are born again, the law has done its job.

now it is time to focus on the law of faith (learning why God says no do not do this, or why god wants us to do this and that) and TRUSTING him.

this is what is meant by the fact the law is fulfilled in us in Christ.

i haven't really read in detail a lot of what you have posted EG but some of your phrasing is kind of confusing.
Thats fine, if you have a question, please ask. i would rather people understood, then get confused. alot of time I have to respond fast. so i can mess up words and phrases.. Plus I am not an english major. i actually did poor in english at school..lol

t
here is no righteousness according to the law. However, God does want us to learn wisdom and self control. therefore there are some guidelines, or if people want to refer to them as laws, that Christians should follow.
true, but again, these guidlines we knew before the law was even written, which was my point all along. we tried to show someone that, but they did not respond to it..

no you see i disagree with you that this is the case for many people. I think most people don't know what it is that God requires of them. they get distracted by the external keeping of the law that they do not bother to examine the internal hurts and behaviors the world has ingrained in us. its like when you condition a dog to a bell. many people are conditioned to a few key words and attack upon command because they feel threatened.

This is what I said yesterday, i agree with you. I call it being spoonfed. We all have had it happen at one time or another I am sure. I was just like mike50 when I was younger.. and just as angry,, So i know where he is coming from. it took years of inner soul searching and study to come out from that, and alot of humility.. Thats is probably why I push them so hard. it is so FREEING to come out from that line of thinking..

??? most people seeking God's heart are reluctant to assume the power and responsibility of leading His people. it is easy for wolves to have the outward show of piety to deceive people because most Christians want to believe the best of others.
what does this have to do with church leaders being found to be in adulterous affairs, or other things, and when it comes out, their lives, families, and believability is ruined, and the church is attacked by people using the excuse that the church can not even live up to their own standard.. so why should we try, or listen to them..

so are you saying those "leaders" should just openly admit to their sin instead of leading double lives?
One who openly admits their sin in a discipleship relationship is in alot better shape than someone who hides it for fear. would you not agree??

this is what we do in our church.. Confess your sins to ONE ANOTHER.. For then you will be healed..

you see the problem with your reasoning is the assumption that the person wants to STOP sinning and WANT help.
Well if this is true, there is more at issue.. But I would say 99 % of the time this is not true. They are torn. they like their sin, But they also are convicted of it. And really do not want to do it.. I know., I have been there done that. That is what the HS job is, Someone who is sinning as has no conviction better look inside, for I would question if they are even saved.

(he who is not chastened are illegitament and not true children of God.) I am paraphrasing that verse.. But I hope you get the point.

what if those "leaders" are just desiring the power, control and thrill of leading a double life?

Then they need to be found, and held accountable.. But I am not talking about these people... But I see your point..

Proverbs 16:25 [SUP] [/SUP]There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.

2 Corinthians 3:7-8
[SUP]7 [/SUP]But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away:
[SUP]8 [/SUP]How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?

Its great that you love the Lord. It should make it easier for you to go to Him and ask for wisdom and knowledge. Why are His 10 commandments called the ministration of death and why is the ministration of the spirit even more glorious than the 10 commandments???

Why are the 10 commandments called the ministration of condemnation but there is no condemnation in Christ Jesus? That seems to be a contradiction doesn't it? I assure you its not. But you must go to Him for these answers, not other men. Men can't take the veil off your mind, only Christ can.

2 Corinthians 3:14-18
[SUP]14 [/SUP]But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.[SUP]15 [/SUP]But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.
[SUP]16 [/SUP]Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away.
[SUP]17 [/SUP]Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
[SUP]18 [/SUP]But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

If you are trying to keep commandments in the power of your own carnal mind and flesh you can't know the liberty of the Spirit of the Lord. Because if you knew this liberty you wouldn't place yourself back under bondage to the power of sin and the sting of death.

You would think people who know the bible so well would know all this. How can you be a Christian but not know Christ? Its like you were short circuited by someone or something.

the point is that JESUS reveals which commandments still apply to God's children TODAY and which are just shadows until the LIGHT actually appeared in the world.

John 18:36 Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not of this world. If My kingdom were of this world, My servants would fight, so that I should not be delivered to the Jews; but now My kingdom is not from here.

Hebrews 11
[h=3][/h][SUP]13 [/SUP]These all died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off were assured of them,[SUP][c][/SUP] embraced them and confessed that they were strangers and pilgrims on the earth. [SUP]14 [/SUP]For those who say such things declare plainly that they seek a homeland. [SUP]15 [/SUP]And truly if they had called to mind that country from which they had come out, they would have had opportunity to return. [SUP]16 [/SUP]But now they desire a better, that is, a heavenly country. Therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God, for He has prepared a city for them.

Abraham was not just looking to the land of Canaan but, the heavenly so this can apply to spiritual Israel.

definitely not what I posted.......

before you can teach anyone anything, you have to show them that you truly love them. then you have to teach in the manner God taught you: with patience, gentleness, impartiality and Truth. James 3

This is what I said yesterday, i agree with you. I call it being spoonfed. We all have had it happen at one time or another I am sure. sometimes i think you push to hard. you have to remember that they are not you and you might be misreading them.

what does this have to do with church leaders being found to be in adulterous affairs, or other things, and when it comes out, their lives, families, and believability is ruined, and the church is attacked by people using the excuse that the church can not even live up to their own standard.. so why should we try, or listen to them..
its just a reminder that there are wolves in sheep clothing, that are often not caught in the beginning.

One who openly admits their sin in a discipleship relationship is in alot better shape than someone who hides it for fear. would you not agree??
yes but too often it is not found at this stage or they never had a true discipleship relationship at all.

I see your point..

This law was given to Isreal. not us. I was not given any land, or laws which I was told to obey if I wanted to live in peace in that land.

the commands which are spoken of in the passages you posted are not these laws per say, but may include many of them.

why do people want to return to law. when paul and everyone made it clear. the power of the law is fulfilled the moment we trust Christ?

i don't get it.

there are so many more than just ten.

it is a danger to think we have just been given ten commands. There is no command which says if we know to good yet do not it is sin.. yet this is a breaking of Gods law.

Get off the ten, and find out there are so many more, and maybe you will find just how sinful you really are like the rest of us have.. and look to god in grace and mercy.. and not as a slave as under the law..

Will these people keep God's commandments? Even if it is GOD who MAKES (CAUSE) them keep HIS JUDGEMENTS (commandments?) ... Are this true?

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

Note who will, and whose spirit it is, and who cause who to DO IT.... There is no way these people will not obey God 100% ALL THE TIME....

I'm a Seventh Day Adventist. I suggest you ask the author of this thread. He is also a 7th Day Adventist. You can research my doctrine and get every answer to why I believe the way I do. IMO, the well is poisoned. Again, if you think this is a popularity contest where you can gain support by saying things like: " Your refusal to answer questions should show the whole chatroom your heart." then you are severely decieved. I am not obligated to answer you. I have answers to every question you could ask me. Chances are I already had the same questions,as I always make an extreme effort at collecting data before I make a decision. But, the well is poisoned, therefore, I shall keep my pearl.

I know there are believers in every denomination who know Jesus is the same as the Father and the Holy Spirit. This is not put out for an argument, Yahweh is ONE. See Isaiah 9, should you doubt this.

If the forum is going to turn into a spitting match for one denomination against another, the forum will go nowhere. I suggest, in the name of peace, people drop attempting to convert others to their denominational traps.

For this thread there have been several attempts using the Word to support opposing views; this in itself should have been a signal for all who love Yeshua, Jesus, to desist for the time being, but it has not.
