You sound like my Mississippi cousins. They were raised by a father and mother who believed "never trust a Yankee."
Of course, that also caused mixed messages, since their mother (Mom's sister) was born in MA and migrated to New York. So, each one of them truly believes you can't trust Yankees and yet each one of them found their spouse in the north. lol

Seriously though, My brother in law is from Michigan. Great guy, afraid of my 380, big on gun control, and well a picky eater, all those not bad things as long as we can be nice at Christmas, Im good.....I won't mention he did graduate from Auburn which voided all his northern-ness in the first place lol
Ill add that when my son started dating in college, i told him his first question needed to be....where does your mama live, cause that's where you're more than likely gonna be. Brrrr it's cold up there.
