There is obviously a difference in our viewpoints.

What is the point of being a christian? In your mind it is being saved, rubber stamped.
To my mind it is walking with Christ.

If you are not in love with Christ and He is your hearts desire, then it is just about staying
safe. But this has never been what the Kingdom is about, and I would wonder if you have
ever really met Christ, listened to His words and know what the Kingdom is.

This is the danger of a one stop theology, which is focused only on the beginning.
Pilgrims progress is the beginning of a discussion about the walk, purification, transformation,
embracing, true companionship into eternity, which is what Jesus is all about.

It is easy to get people to the door with a promise of a bribe, much harder to show
them what the walk actually means. And without the walk, it is all fake, mere lip service,
a blowing in the wind, the seed falling on rocky ground, soon dried up and blown away.

A new believer - do they even know what they are?

I saw a young peoples conference. The room was full with believers.
They said within a year there would be 10, within 10 years 1.

Now who were the true believers, and what did it really mean.
You talk as if you have wisdom but it is just empty air, talking as if you have
knowledge, yet soon it just goes.

I wish you had some realism and integrity, but then maybe you have never done
street witnessing, and calling people to Christ.

So a person claims to be a believer, and you ASSUME they are?

Just because someone claims to be a believer, does not mean they ever had saving faith in Christ.

Who was the true believer? The one who had true saving faith in Christ, and was adopted as Gods child. Signed sealed by the Holy spirit, and given eternal life.

Can I tell who that person is? I am not God, Only God knows that.

Maybe you have yet to meat a REAL Believer, and experienced the true love of God in that persons life?

I can not think of any other reason you would continue to trust self over Christ. and think that it actually works in making you a child of God.

considering that there are people in this very forum (just a cross section of the world IMO), that state they have been a Christian for 450 years (exaggeration) and yet treat the Bible like the book of interpretations and opinions....

well then, considering that, does it matter?

perhaps we should remember that the Holy Spirit ushers us into the Kingdom and not our own efforts

oh wait...it is me, or does that put the op in mind?......

Thats your problem, YOU THINK TO MUCH, you try to tell people WHAT YOU THINK they believe, instead of sitting down, Listening to them, and trying to figure out WHAT they believe.

WHat is our issue? our difference?

You think "walking" saves you

I think you are SAVED by faith, and because of this, YOU WALK.

You have a person walking by his own power.

I have people walking under Gods guidance and power (and God never fails what he started but will perfect until the day of Christ))

You have people trying to ACT to keep their salvation.

I have people ACTING because they are saved.

This difference is as different as night and day Or red and blue!

Its amazing how a pharisee spent his life trying to walk with God, and memorising the word of God to the point they know the word better than MOST Christians today. Yet they still crucified Christ.

The amount of time you are in religion does not matter, Who you place your faiht in is the ONLY thing that matters

foundational truths are rare these days it seems

like I said, the Bible has become a book of personal interpretations and opinions

not!....

I think it started all the way back wiht moses. When moses would say one thing, and everyone would say he spoke of himself. not of God and tried to defame him and appose him. waling for 40 years in the desert did not change them either.

I'm trying to help you by preventing further deflections on your part. I know my shortfalls and am prayerfully working on them. In a spirit of love I pray you focus on your shortfalls. That said, I'm proclaim our salvation does not hang in the balance; Jesus' mission is complete.
Yeah, I can just feel the love oozing outta you.....right.

The only time you'll help me is when I change sides..... ain't gonna happen.

If Jesus' mission was complete, how come He is still interceding for us at God's right hand?

Salvation is a once for all act....there is no maintaining salvation...he that began the good work will bring it to fruition......

Jesus it the beginner and finisher of our faith.......
21“Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child; and children will rise up against parents and cause them to be put to death. 22“You will be hated by all because of My name, but it is the one who has endured to the end who will be saved.

Apparently no one alive is there yet.

Um, The cross..

What can we do to make the cross more perfect? NOTHING..

The mere fact he still has to intercede shows we are still in danger of hellfire if left to our own works.

That speaks of great tribulation and PHYSICAL LIFE.

Not all time, and spiritual life being saved.

If you have to endure to the end, you better be perfect from birth, that is your only hope.

I got rid of all the blah blah to get to the core issue of this post:
So "in me" is part of the metaphor of the vine, (in the vine) and not in the body of Christ under the New Covenant which was not yet fully established.
Really? When Jesus says "in Me",He means it. I believe Jesus before you. After all, you aren't as reliable as Jesus.

They say that Jesus' words in the Gospels have no validity because He wasn't resurrected yet, that it was OT.

Tell me, MMD, do you believe this doctrine?

No one is saved by works, but at the same time there will be no heavenly recompense for any who do not do works of God after salvation.

The gift of faith is likened to gold, gold only having value to the possessor and to the Father.

When the gift of faith is received it must be used to grow the faith, not buried in the ground to be made something filthy,.

The bible says this impossible. So why would you or anyone else claim it is possible?

That is true no matter what time we are in.

We are born deceived, and in the flesh.

If once deceived always descended was true, NO ONE WOULD EVER GET SAVED in ANY TIME PERIOD..
