Can you give us a scripture that says, "The truth is, we have "one chance" and this world is our testing ground to prepare Chrsitians for serving and worshiping God for an eternity". Thank you.

in context TT is adding on to the conversation about this life here on earth....

which we only have one of....

as for scripture to back this up...

Hebrews 9

19 For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,

20 Saying, This is the blood of the testament which God hath enjoined unto you.

21 Moreover he sprinkled with blood both the tabernacle, and all the vessels of the ministry.

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.

23 It was therefore necessary that the patterns of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with better sacrifices than these.

24 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us:

25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others;

26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.

1 John 5:4 - For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith.
1 John 5:5 - Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
________
Revelation 3:21 - To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
____________

philippians

9 And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:

______

1 peter 1

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,

5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

Sorry if I missed something. But were you quoting from Matthew 5:22?
Yes, I was. But since a whole day of conversation was had concerning it, I shortened it, believing all understood from the indepth conversation, what the full verse said. I keep forgetting that people don't read all the posts since the last time they've been in the thread. :)

NOW where did you get that from what I just posted?

You TOTALLY misunderstood what I posted.

I was talking about, HIS GRACE AND MERCY.

But the Implied Response I was looking for was:

"Except for HIS GRACE and MERCY, I to would be doomed to Die and go to Hell."

I thought it was obvious, but I heard a Sermon by Dr. John MacArthur, that had a Similar question as Stunnedbygrace that he posted, that I responded to. It may have been a sermon by the Title: Why Do Good People End Up in Hell?

His sermon main point was "THERE ARE NO GOOD PEOPLE. That is only a measurement of Mankind, that calls them Good People."

Romans 3:12 (HCSB)
[SUP]12 [/SUP] All have turned away; all alike have become useless. There is no one who does what is good, not even one.

Oh, it's okay. :)
You can't read everything!
Admittedly, I skip posts of people who never say anything new or bring any new understanding into the discussions. :) I already know what they'll be saying in their posts because it's always the same things.

"you have just condemned 65% of all other Christians"
dcontroversal has changed this to
"you have just condemned 90% of all other Christians"
And dcontroversal is happy with condemning 90% of believing christians.
And both of you would be false in your allegations.....which makes you what exactly.....faith plus anything to obtain eternal life/salvation = false gospel and is condemned...get your facts straight pj or be found false

You mockingly condemn all that do not believe in your strict and narrow reading of the scriptures.

If I put you and your strict and narrow belief system up against all other Christians, world wide, you may not be able to agree with even 65% of them. Even on this forum, at least 30% do not agree with you, and now take the Catholics and the eastern Christians and we could be talking just 65% of just the protestant religions.

BTW, the false, embellished, street organ player false gospels you are talking about, come from the bible also. The part of the bible that you do not read because it does not fit your strict and narrow reading of the scriptures.

For instance you have never told me what happened to the debtor that was given grace and a great free gift from the merciful king?
Did he lose his free gift for not forgiving?
OR
Did the king forgive him and he kept his free gift even though he did not forgive.

What is the answer to this parable that Jesus gave us?
Nice lemon twist pal but not cigar.....just own up to the fact that

a. You embellish salvation with works and water
b. You say it can be lost which makes Jesus a weak, inept god that cannot keep his promises
c. The fact he cannot keep his word makes him and his words false (by your dogma)

There is one gospel of salvation and it is eternal life by grace through faith with no embellishments....

Nay worker for, it is your inability to use and define context, verbiage and verb tense that equates into a false, psuedo losable non-gospel!

"Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment." Hebrews9:27

Okay, and it has been "my goal" to pursue "my Christian life" on terra ferma as a testing ground to prepare "me" for serving and worshiping God for an eternity". I am not obligated to show you any bible verse to authenticate my personal life goals, thank you. And personally I do not enjoy having a dialog with you about anything.

God bless and have a wonderful life.

I am amazed at the amount of people that think they can Offer God somethign so great it will cause God to allow them into heaven. When will people become like the tax collector and repent man? Its sad at the arrogance of many people who like the phartisee think they are something based on what they do. And not on WHo and WHat God is.

Hi dcontroversal,

Your correction is you believe 90% of the christian church is believing in a false gospel.
I like your ability to say the same thing as if it is a correction.

So you admit you are just a general condemner of the Christian Church, which is staggering.
Now I cannot even say this about the church I attend, or would I ever want to about
anyone. Rather I will share the gospel and Jesus's love, and hope and pray God brings
spiritual new birth and growth to those I share with.

I hope those who know the Lord can see the basic teaching Jesus provides. We are to
share His life in our hearts, and confront sin and heresy where it is obvious, but otherwise
just shine as lights in the world and have fellowship.

This is vastly different from attempting to slander and divide fellowships and communities
with unfounded beliefs and dangers, other than us highlighting these trouble makers whose
only intent is to condemn bible believing followers of Christ, amen.

Even Jesus did not condemn what the pharisees taught in terms of the law, just their
hypocrisy and empty hearts in following it. And that is the point. It is the failure in the heart
that lets us down and the need to walk in Gods ways, Amen.

I hear you bro. We all need to know Jesus speaking to our hearts and knowing Jesus
saves us. Through His love, and our communion we are transformed, seeing the Holy
Spirit encouraging and leading us.

Praise God we are saved by faith, and see His love working in our hearts so we obey
His commands.

I want to encourage you that there will always be false teachers, and sin and the lost,
but we each can walk in the light and bring glory to His name. It is through Him our
joy comes, and the victory He brings. So be encouraged that He died upon the cross
for your sins and mine and have brought us into His kingdom Amen.

Paul responding to people preaching Jesus but not in the right way.

It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill.
The latter do so in love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.
The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.
But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, for I know that through your prayers and the help given by the Spirit of Jesus Christ, what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.
I eagerly expect and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
Philippians 1:15-20

Paul is rejoicing, not feeling sick or despairing, because he knew wherever the word of
God is preached it brings fruit. Gods love is fantastic, Hallelujah, His glory without
end, His praise reaches to the highest heaven, and all will one day bow before His
throne.

Those who teach falsely, walk blindly will fall because of their sin, will wither and die.
Gods truth has always been clear and true, a pure stream flowing from the hearts of
His redeemed people, Amen.

The parable of the merciful king is very important to this topic. So please do not ignore it.

Did the merciful king (who is Jesus) keep his promise to the debtor (who he had forgiven and given him a free gift)?

OR

Did the merciful king take back his free gift when he found out that the debtor had not forgiven his small debtor?

Remember Jesus ends this parable by saying these words: [FONT=&quot]So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses. Matthew 18:35.
