Sure...keep believing that....funny thing...you are the one that thinks YOU must do something to gain, keep or maintain salvation....so......NONstudyman it is you that creates your own false salvation....wrap your head around that....

P.S> If you had any understanding whatsoever at all you would know that the "NOT of YOURSELVES" is directed at the faith which saves....but I do not expect you to understand that truth....
My whole post is God's Word regarding the "Faith" that saves, not my own. Your definition of these 3 words does not erase the entire Bible in my opinion.

But I digress....

Christian all your life you say....the bolded is false...it is faith that saves..not faith and works..get that through your head....
You ignored Paul saying "I show you my faith by my works." And James saying faith without works is dead. Using logic that means that works is required. Works while not saving is demonstrating saving faith.

Using logic that means that works is required. Works while not saving is demonstrating saving faith.
Works only justify us before men, not before God. Christians can have a dead (unproductive) faith and are still saved. It seems you want it both ways by using the word "required".

1Co 13:13 And now abideth faith, hope, charity, these three; but the greatest of these is charity.

Gal 5:6 For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love.

Charity, love in action, works,is greater than faith, and faith works by love, for it is not faith alone,it is love alone, and everything to do with our salvation stems from love.

1Co 13:2 And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not charity, I am nothing.

If faith only justifies us before men then why are we nothing if we do not have works.

1Ti 6:5 Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself.
1Ti 6:6 But godliness with contentment is great gain.
1Ti 6:7 For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.
1Ti 6:8 And having food and raiment let us be therewith content.
1Ti 6:9 But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition.
1Ti 6:10 For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

If faith only justifies us before men than why have they erred from the the faith, for the love of money is the root of all evil for it neglects the poor and needy.

Jas 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
Jas 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
Jas 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
Jas 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.

If faith only justifies us before God then why is their faith dead, non existent, and faith has no profit.

Jas 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.

And also the Bible plainly states we are justified by our works, and not faith alone.

1Jn 3:17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?
1Jn 3:18 My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

If faith only justifies us before men then why does the love of God not dwell in them, which love in deed and truth, works.

For faith does not apply unless we have works.

Rev 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love.
Rev 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.

If faith only justifies us before men then why did Jesus tell them they left their first love, and are fallen, and to repent, and to do the first works, and if they did not they would not have salvation.

Rev 3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God.
Rev 3:3 Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee.

If faith only justifies us before men then why did Jesus say their works were not found perfect before God,and told them to repent, and if not then He would go against them.

Faith alone, and not saved by works, when we first confess Christ, for that is all we can do because we have not received the Spirit yet,but when we receive the Spirit then we are spiritual so we have to have works to have faith active in our life, which the Bible plainly states that Abraham was justified by works.

But people want to carry faith alone, and not saved by works throughout their walk with Christ, when it only applies when we first confess Christ, and are saved, for we have not received the Spirit yet.

Here's a interesting Scripture I haven't seen referenced on this topic:

1 Co 11:18For, in the first place, when you come together as a church, I hear that there are divisions among you. And I believe it in part,[SUP]e[/SUP]19for there must be factions among you in order that those who are genuine among you may be recognized.

Please notice that Paul isn't telling people they need to "do" something, he's showing that those who are not living in unity are simply revealing those who don't believe. The focus is on works, but only so it would reveal their faith. Not that works saves, but that those who were genuinely saved would be recognized. We must remember the focus of "works" in Scripture is to bring people back to a face-to-face encounter with their Savior and the work He is doing (and has done) in them. We love because He loved us first. If we don't love one another, we don't know His love for ourselves. And in my opinion sometimes this person isn't saved and sometimes they are, but they are not discipled.
Well said !!
The problem is , that alot of people dont see the difference between salvation & discipleship .
When someone is saved by believing the Gospel & placing their faith and trust in Christ for it , they are instantly saved.
Discleship takes work , and those believers who work will be rewarded for it , but we still have a free will after salvation

John 13:34-35
34 A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

That justifies before men.

Your works will not save you.
They will not justify you.

What is justified?

You say Abraham was justified by works.

Romans 4:1-8
Chapter 4
Abraham Justified by Faith
1 What then shall we say that Abraham our father has found according to the flesh? 2 For if Abraham was justified by works, he has something to boast about, but not before God. 3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” 4 Now to him who works, the wages are not counted as grace but as debt.
David Celebrates the Same Truth
5 But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, 6 just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:
7 “Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
8 Blessed is the man to whom the Lord shall not impute sin.”

Hi Budman, my Christian walk and my relationship with God is not, "performance based" if it were God would have put me back on the dusty old book shelf a long time ago. My abilities to serve God today are limited based on my prostate cancer and cancer treatments.

But I am saved by Grace Alone and therefore I can Praise God every morning with a smile on my face because He loves me not based on "performance abilities." You are so correct when you say; "Works only justify us before men, not before God."

I wish people would stop trying to build a false doctrine based on one verse in the bible "Janes2:17", if this were true and it is not true, I would have a dead faith based on my performance abilities" The James Ch2 folks have been misguided and are misinterpreting Gods word.

Works only justify us before men, not before God. Christians can have a dead (unproductive) faith and are still saved. It seems you want it both ways by using the word "required".
Can you give a percentage breakdown on this, is it a 50 - 50 split.... 25 - 75 split, this always comes to my mind when people mix faith and works as a combination for salvation?
Most of the time you two ignore the relationship between faith and works.
The issue is as the Bible in James states, "Faith without works is dead."

I get my information about Jesus and the Pharisees from God's Word, not the Pope.

John 8:42 Jesus said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth and came from God; neither came I of myself, but he sent me.43 Why do ye not understand my speech? even because ye cannot hear my word.
44
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do.

This is Scripture, at least it's written in my Bible. Not sure what book you read.

Luke 23:39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

You are free to preach that the thief didn't know anything about God or His Kingdom or Christ's teaching until that very hour if you want, just like you are free to preach that Jesus didn't say the Pharisees were children of satan.

I'm sticking with the Word.
So what...does not mean they worshiped the devil...Jesus called Peter Satan.....did that make PETER SATAN....you can forget it....I see right through the drivel you post....and your working for, law keeping false gospel....and my reference was to the post about you saying they worshiped SATAN...so....twist and embellish all you like...we all see through you and your lemon twist gospel.

Titus 1:15-16 to the pure, all things are pure, but to those who are corrupted and do not believe, nothing is pure. In fact, both their minds and consciences are corrupted. They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him. They are detestable, disobedient and unfit for doing anything good.

Why are you here? Shouldn't you be out doing good works to prove to yourself, others, and to God you are truly saved?

Matthew 4:1-11 The Temptation of Jesus Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the desert to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, “If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down. For it is written: “‘He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’” Jesus answered him, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’” Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. “All this I will give you,” he said, “if you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

John 8:43-47 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies. Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe me! Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”

why do the " workers for salvation " never quote the apostle Paul , the apostle to the Gentiles , who teaches Grace ??
Thats my question !
