you have not resisted to the point of shedding blood <-- for a long time, I read this verse like "oh no, I don't want to go to the hospital for this"

and now I think "shedding blood" might be talking about the grace of God, or you have not resisted to the point of activiating the power of Jesus or the blood of Christ for this situation or something,

the bible does have some confusing stuff, but this pertains to the most common battle of all "spiritual warfare"

help me interpret this

Paul is warning them that martyrdom is coming . . . and it would be a shame if they were to go through that still unsaved. It's their choice though. Be persecuted for the faith and still go to hell, or get saved and face death as a conquering hero.

So again, if God does not call us, then he automatically damns us to hell fire for eternity. We have no choice. Does not sound like a fair plan to me.
You're simply showing yourself to be a judge of God, and the Romans 9:20 man in the flesh, replying against God, as a mere mortal. In reality you are saying "God, you are unjust!!!! (unfair)"

You also truncate and bring shame on the one true Gospel by claiming Christ does not save all who come to him (that salvation is both lost and earned by works) denying his very words, placing your own works above his authority, ability and claims.

Well, let's look at the scripture together............

God Disciplines His Children
4 In your struggle against sin, you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood. 5 And have you completely forgotten this word of encouragement that addresses you as a father addresses his son? It says,

“My son, do not make light of the Lord’s discipline,
and do not lose heart when he rebukes you,
6 because the Lord disciplines the one he loves,
and he chastens everyone he accepts as his son.”[a]

So, it has to do with our struggle against sin. Notice, Paul says, "your blood." Hmmmmm

It's our flesh - the carnal, selfish nature that must die on our cross. We're to deny ourselves, take up our cross and follow Him (Jesus).

Correction is good for us.

Hi again, :)

I see what you mean by it pertaining to "spiritual warfare." It's the struggle between our flesh and our spirit.

Thanks! Good insight. :D(y)

The Consummation of Love
17 Love has been perfected among us in this: that we may have boldness in the day of judgment; because as He is, so are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love; but perfect love casts out fear, because fear involves torment. But he who fears has not been made perfect in love. 19 We love Him because He first loved us.
Obedience by Faith
20 If someone says, “I love God,” and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen? 21 And this commandment we have from Him: that he who loves God must love his brother also.

We love because he first loved us.

What I find interesting is

Love in V17 is Agape
Love in V18 is Agape
Love in V 19-21 is Agapaoe

Can anyone give an insight to the words used for love?
The difference is that one is a noun and the other a verb.....

The usage as a noun in verses 17-18 sets forth AGAPE as a thing(characteristic), something that we are endowed with that grows with maturity and spiritual growth

The usage as a verb in verses 19-21 sets forth the characteristic as a verb or shows state of action based upon the first usage of it as a characteristic in verses 17-18.....IE. the reciprocal action toward God and our brothers/sisters in Christ based upon God's directed LOVE toward us....

Vs. 17-18

agapé: love, goodwill
Original Word: ἀγάπη, ης, ἡ
Part of Speech: Noun, Feminine
Transliteration: agapé
Phonetic Spelling: (ag-ah'-pay)
Definition: love, goodwill
Usage: love, benevolence, good will, esteem;

Vs. 19-21

agapaó: to love
Original Word: ἀγαπάω
Part of Speech: Verb
Transliteration: agapaó
Phonetic Spelling: (ag-ap-ah'-o)
Definition: to love
Usage: I love, wish well to, take pleasure in, long for; denotes the love of reason, esteem.

There are 3 Persons in the Trinity. God the Father, Jesus the Son, and the Holy Spirit. So although Jesus is God, he is not God the Father, and that is who Jesus was referring to as the only one that was good. So his reply to this man is a little confusing.

If Jesus was referring to himself as God, why would he say "why callest me good", and seem to be referring to someone else?

It is just a little interesting.

In my world, I can imagine that God can give freely His love. But it is like, He is also mighty in giving mercy. But we know that if we are not merciful, like Him, He can take His mercy away and throw us in prison. I believe that if God gives us His love freely, we must be willing to give love too, and if we decide to be a hater, then God may be willing to take His love away from us, until we figure it out and repent and return love for love.
Look....Jesus was 100% justified in what he said about none being good but God....why? I believe the answer is two fold although MOST miss it or reject it....before I list the two fold reason I must state that JESUS was TEMPTED in ALL points as we are TEMPTED, but he did NO SIN himself in the flesh....Christ NEVER sinned ONCE...having said that, the reason I believe he stated this is because....

a. He came in the LIKENESS of sinful flesh
b. He that knew no sin, became SIN FOR US

That is my view and possibly one other reason that deals with the fact that his mother was a sinner that needed to be saved just as everyone else.....Key word is possibly on the last one....

The good works that I talk about are not a bunch of works to puff up the flesh. Yuk! They are works that God before ordained me to do, that I should walk in them. I enjoy being engaged in the work of the Lord. Not that it will gain me salvation, but that is what the Lord wants me to do, so being a sheep, I follow after him and I do what he tells me to do.

I suspect you do the same. This is not a false and twisted doctrine.
YET you will say that if you do not do the works he will cast you away LOST........and or have said that one must do the works to REMAIN saved....both are false....

The wicked go astray from the womb and God knows who will and who will not believe....He can call whom he wills to call and it even states that MANY are called, but few chosen........

Who are we to say unto God, WHY have you made me thus..........It states clearly that he has made the wicked for the day of destruction....

God is 100% fair with how he deals with men......

Yeah....nice twist on what you actually push....
Amen decon, benhur says, "what if I do a little extra work for God." and like you say what he actually pushes is a counterfeit Christ because he also believes that if you do not do the "little extra work", God will "cut us of", all because he misinterprets John15:2.

benhur pushes one of the most deceptive counterfeit gospels that I have seen in ages on this forum. And thank you for holding up the bright light of the Gospel, God's gift of eternal salvation, for those who believe in the Son of God.

Then I am saved, because I believe on the Son. If I do a little extra works for the glory of God, what is that to anybody?

God raised Pharaoh up for His glory , He had no intentions of bringing him to heaven , God is just , do you think it was fair that God hardened Pharaohs heart , or was that unjust to you...xox...
"Hardened" in context of that scripture is more closely understood as "strengthened."

To say God had no intention to bring Pharaoh to heaven is also problematic since none of us can know the mind of God.

Romans 1:18-22 (NKJV)
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who suppress the truth in unrighteousness,
19 because what may be known of God is manifest in them, for God has shown it to them.
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
