assurance Means you KNOW without amy doubt no matter what, you will get what you wish,

we have seen Gods truth, we KNOW WE HAVE eternal life, and because if it, we will continue to believe in a Jesus just like the apostle John declaired,

you do not know it, so you need to study johns words very carefully until you do

The title of the thread, "Not by Works" is true, and so is the fact hat we are saved by faith alone.

So far so good, but we need to study the whole of scripture to ensure our faith is built on a sound foundation. As you know if some bricks are missing the whole building will come tumbling down. While your brother is correct in the main, and indeed his teaching follows my own belief he does need to heed such warnings as these:-

Now the Holy Spirit tells us clearly that in the last times some will turn away from the true faith; they will follow deceptive spirits and teachings that come from demons. 1Ti 4:1 NLT

Examine yourselves to see if your faith is genuine 2Co 13:5 NLT

Let us hold tightly without wavering (backsliding) to the hope we affirm, for God can be trusted to keep his promise. Heb 10:23 NLT

For this good news—that God has prepared this rest—has been announced to us just as it was to them. But it did them no good because they didn’t share the faith of those who listened to God. Heb 4:2 NLT

It is not as cut and dried as some people think.

sure it is cut and dried.

believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.

not believe on Jesus, do enough good works, and when you receive the gift of tongues, you are now sealed and assured.

a certain denomination teaches this lie, I think you know which one.

the foundation is Christ.

Not in how good we are
Not in how well we follow Jesus
Not in persevering.
Not in anything we do of our own power
It is in Christ. and his promise.

and what is his promise, whoever believes HAS eternal life. WILL never die, WILL spend eternity with him.

If you think it means you MIGHT spend eternity, Your foundation is in self. Because you must keep yourself saved by whatever means you think can cause you to lose grip on the eternal promise

You and all others that teach "quasi salvation" cannot seem to understand that Hebrews 10:23 and other verses are not referencing the saved justified/status of the person but the walk of faith after salvation.
