Sorry, friend, but OSAS is a false teaching which provides false security to its adherents by teaching men can obtain by dead faith that which can only be obtained by living faith: eternal life. (James 2:14-17 KJV)
What is "dead" faith in the context of James?

Some of the people that I've read in this forum don't prove they love God. Because they can't prove they love people that disagree with them. Otherwise they wouldn't treat them the way they do here.
What gets me is, even if you point this out to them they still act badly.
Shows me you can't fake God's love.
Either you have it and have learned to walk in it, or you haven't.
That's the one thing that ultimately can't be faked.

Dead faith is faith with no works. The faith that can't save:

14What use is it, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but he has no works? Can that faith save him?
17Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself. - James 2:14,17

'Dead' means 'can't save'.
But so many will rant and rave and claim their works-less faith does save them.

No it actually does not...dead in context means "inoperative" "not being used"

Hi!

What is "dead" faith in the context of James?
Works of Yahweh, by the Spirit, through believers=(He leads and guides our steps). good works, good fruit
Works in and of one self = dead works, bad fruit (as in keeping the law) dead faith.

Christians are to be "fruit" inspectors.

God Bless!

Good Morning!
Dead faith is faith with no works. The faith that can't save:
I have a question for you,

If a person came up to you right now and said "you say you have faith, show me your works"
How would you respond to them in that moment?

God Bless!!

Anything dead was once alive, otherwise it would not be described as dead

NOT IN THE LEAST! Your theology is the GREAT FALLING AWAY FROM TRUTH.

Most of US are TRUE OSAS BELIEVERS here, ABLE TO DEFEND OSAS THOROUGHLY, and CANNOT BE SWAYED FROM THE TRUTH.
So YOU CAN GO NOW, since you just chose not to read my post thoroughly.

2 Timothy 1:9 (HCSB)
9 He has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace,
which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began.

Ephesians 4:30 (NKJV)
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God,
by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

{There is a major OSAS VERSE!}

Ephesians 1:13-14 (HCSB)
13 When you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him,
you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.

14 He is the down payment of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession, to the praise of His glory.

1 Peter 1:3-5 (HCSB)
3 Praise the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. According to His great mercy, He has given us a new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead
4 and into an inheritance that is imperishable, uncorrupted, and unfading, kept in heaven for you.
5 You are being protected by God’s power through faith for a salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

Romans 11:29 (NASB77)
29 for the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. {SALVATION is a GIFT of GOD, not something you have to pay for.}

Ephesians 2:8-9 (NJB)
8 Because it is by grace that you have been saved, through faith; not by anything of your own, but by a gift from God;
9 not by anything that you have done, so that nobody can claim the credit.

Of course there is not. Those who refuse to repent from iniquity will have their names blotted out of the Book. Let's all strive to live lives "obedience unto life" and not "sin unto death." Romans 6:16 KJV

NO THEY NEVER WERE IN THE BOOK OF LIFE FROM, BEFORE THE EARTH WAS FORMED.

GOD DID NOT MAKE A MISTAKE IN WRITING THE BOOK OF LIFE, HE KNEW ALL THE DECISIONS YOU WOULD MAKE, BEFORE TIME BEGAN.

YOU MADE A MISTAKE IN INTERPRETING THE WORD OF GOD.

Revelation 17:8 (NRSV)
8 The beast that you saw was, and is not, and is about to ascend from the bottomless pit and go to destruction. And the inhabitants of the earth, whose names have not been written in the book of life from the foundation of the world, will be amazed when they see the beast, because it was and is not and is to come.

Revelation 13:8 (HCSB)
8 All those who live on the earth will worship him {Antichrist}, everyone whose name was not written
from the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb who was slaughtered.

YOU FORGOT ONE CRITICAL PIECE OF INFORMATION, GOD KNOWS ALL THE DECISION ANY MAN WILL MAKE DURING HIS ENTIRE LIFE, BEFORE HE WROTE THE BOOK OF LIFE. Oh how you love to diminish the POWER OF GOD's OMNISCIENCE.

OMNISCIENCE:
State of being all knowing, which theology ascribes to God. Though Scripture affirms God’s immeasurable understanding (Ps. 147:5), God’s omniscience is not a matter of abstract speculation.

I would agree.
It is impossible to guarantee in an web community that all members are what they say they are. However, the proof in the pudding is found in how members who say they are Christian then communicate with others so as to either prove or disprove the claim.
The one's that are faking don't care that they come across as angry atheists intent on giving the faith a bad name due to their example. In fact, I'd go so far as to say that is their intent.
And we can't discount that the fakes are possibly little kids left home as turn key or latch key brats looking for an outlet for their issues.

Interested to know your thoughts on how Jesus responded to those in his day whilst on earth who claimed to be men of God, the ones faking.

Matthew 23:33
33 Serpents, brood of vipers! How can you escape the condemnation of hell?

Matthew 12:34-37
34 Brood of vipers! How can you, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. 35 A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure brings forth evil things. 36 But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. 37 For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.”

What about the 7 woes to the Pharisees?

Jesus did not pull any punches here.

He didn't pull any punches. God is all knowing. Jesus was God. The Pharisee's fate were sealed before Jesus was born if we take God at his word that he has predestined all things due to his zeal for his own glory.

Anyone who believes eternal salvation has to be "kept up" and doesn't believe salvation is a gift from God through His Son Jesus Christ and that all of the work of salvation was done by God through this free gift, is peddling a false doctrine.

No human being can "do" enough to "be saved", hold onto salvation, keep it up through any human effort. Didn't the Pharisees and the Sadducees proved that? If humans can maintain and keep up their salvation, then Christ died for naught. So tired of people peddling "false" doctrine.

John 3:16

Now they are confusing SALVATION with SANCTIFICATION, thinking they are the same thing.

SALVATION is a work of the HOLY SPIRIT.

While SANCTIFICATION is WORK Christ does in our Mortal Lives, after we are SAVED.

Despite what is true in what you say, you are actually the one peddling the false doctrine.

"14For we have become partakers of Christ, if we hold fast the beginning of our assurance firm until the end" - Hebrews 3:14

Now, according to the above verse, if you do not hold fast the assurance you started out in, are you a partaker of Christ?

So true.
Thankfully, being saved and remaining in that salvation is done through believing.
Not through works.

I'd say, "hang around, you'll see them."

Through out the day, that person would catch me being patient, because the fruit of patience is in me (and I'm not suppressing it). They'd catch me being kind because the fruit of kindness is in me. They'd catch me being faithful because the fruit of faithfulness is at work in me. They'd catch me being self-controlled because.........well, never mind that one, lol.

This is not addressing salvific faith....you read the entire letters and see what James is addressing.

Saved has different meanings....I have already explained this to you.
