Hi Jackrosie,

Well, it might fall logically that we received faith from God but that it's not what the bible is saying to us, when it pertains to salvation, that's the slight twist from Calvinistic view perhaps it cannot asserted in the Bible. Let's take a look
Hi again,

Probing without scriptural basis fall short. We received the Holy Spirit when we believe and this is quite contrary to the notion of Calvinism. Jesus said that faith or believing is the way of receiving the Holy Spirit. What actually we received after the holy Spirit is power. The Holy Spirit then empower us.

John 7:39
(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)

Acts 1:8
But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.

Hi..if you scroll back you will find scripture from myself and two others explaining....that is my belief.

Over a long period of time...you shall know them by their fruit...I don’t agree with your post...I said nothing about them not being saved so please don’t misquote me.

I quoted scripture...God’s word.
Well, guess I don't know what your disagreement was about. And no I'm not scrolling back through hundreds of pages to find it so...so be it. But I did not misquote you. I gave you my opinion on the matter of fruits. No need to continue to be so defensive. I am not here to harm you...just saying....:)

There is nothing special about them. Study unconditional election. Study 1 Corinthians 1:26-31.
Unconditional election reflects badly on God.
If you study conditional election, that's where "special" comes in. ;)
It’s actually all through the Bible.
What does God being a God of justice have to do with election? If He were to exercise justice in saving, none would be saved. This is about God exercising grace and mercy, electing according to his counsel, will, and purpose. Ephesians 1:11 &c.
It’s his will that all come to repentance the Bible says. Pretty open and shut. None are special.

They do not believe salvation must be maintained. at least not the two we are having this discussion with. Just FYI
I'm pretty sure the one said something to the effect of, you know, the whole license to sin thing that they love to pretend OSAS promotes, and how surprised some people will be to find out that you cannot live "as you please" when you are saved, but must make ongoing strenuous attempts to be sinless, as we also know some also promote they are... and not just in one post, either, but over a series of posts. That is why I asked him, specifically, if he was a T.U.L.I. kind of guy.

I am going to try to quit responding to you because for some reason you feel, asking a question or giving my opinion is some how attacking you...You keep throwing out little snide remarks to others for no apparent reason...This is really odd behavior and I leave you too it...for now, anyways.

Amen?

Please tell me you do not believe this?

It does not empty the cross of the power.

Remember Jesus said he must be lifted up and as moses lifted up the seprent in the wilderness so must man be lifted up so that whoever believes.

The children of Israel had to chose in faith to look up at the serpent on the pole.. They looked up. Like you and I looked up to the cross in faith.

Did they Earn their salvation because they looked to the serpent?

No. No more than we can EARN salvation by looking to the cross

I was saved through Jesus sacrificing his life for me.....Christ saved me.i didn’t save myself....I cried out to Jesus.....if Jesus hadn’t died...there would be no salvation.....what a terrible thought.[/QUOTE]
Yep and that's true, we didn't save ourselves, we only look to the Saviour and saves us. Your looking to Christ only demontrate our faith believing to Christ. The object is Christ and Christ alone but without looking to Christ (not looking to yourselves) you will not be saved. Hope you gonna see the difference of what the Bible says as you are actually into a good ground but sometime get confused to a what man says. I pray God to bless you.

No, not when one understands grace and mercy are Gods love, and the reception of both results in faith. Pretty easy to see imho.
So love is not Gods? And while I see grace and mercy are Gods as you do. Salvation is still by grace through faith. So how Can you leave love and faith out? I do not see how

see... telling people to study some Term, Terminolgy... it can sound Weird right off the bat and is, i don't know, probably from some kind of Dogma or Belief System??

God doesn't have dogmas or belief systems or want us to study 'This one' or ' That one'. just read the Bible and you'll get a sense of what God wants. like as in a number of books in the Old Testament. and a bunch of ones ones in the New.

and what is the sense you might ask, what is the sense?? it's Simple .... Be Good, Do Good, Repent, Follow the Good One, Obey the Good One, Obey God, Turn From Sin, Do What is Right, Just, Holy, Honorable &&&&&&&&&& You Will Be Blessed! You Will Be Known of God! You Will Be Saved! You Will Be Found! You Will Find Heaven! :)

Amen

Is that not what the atonement did...Doesn't the scripture teach that he died for any, all, whosoever will?

Limiting atonement and saying any, all men, the world, whosoever etc., does not mean exactly that ...Is this not limiting God and the sacrifice of of his Son?

God is a God of justice in that he would have all men come to repentance and sent his son to die for all, however some do not accept this gift, and so they will face the judgement. Is this not what the scripture teaches?
Guess, I'll try to answer my own question....

Limited Atonement?

Romans 5
18 Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life.

And then we see in the very next verse.... that not all were made righteous only many....Guess there was some sort of choice in this matter seeing that the free gift was for all men.... some must not have accepted the free gift.

19 For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.

Apparently you were not saved from Bansville. Believe me, you won't be missed.
Thank you for the thumbs downs. It would be a boring world if everyone agreed with me. Now, if you gave this post a thumbs down too it would mean that you are actually agreeing with me.

Yes you have answered... so many scriptures that deny limited atonement.

I do not even know how anyone can even draw such a false conclusion based on the preponderance of evidence from scripture that states the opposite.
