If you go back this same guy told me to stay off his thread... Only those who agree with him are worthy of what's to gain from this thread I see

It's anti-christian to warn them to watch after themselves?

It's anti-christian to say something about them arguing with that kind of condition? Where's your empathy?

Their doctor would tell them to stay away from places like the BDF. They could go into the other forums that don't fight.

All you want to do is throw your anti-christian slurs at those that don't agree with you.

Sadly BillG your words about being attacked and condemned were spot on.

It's very sad to see.
I would stand with Bill or EG any day......to the bitter end......it takes guts to confess your difficulties in an open forum like this......and then like sharks coming up from the deep...........tragic for sure....

Religion is a cruel task-master. It is a system of control and spiritual manipulation that is characterized by it's sin-management programs which actually nullify the very grace of God in Christ that is needed for true transformation by the Holy Spirit. 2 Cor. 3:17-18

My guess is that having placed her faith in Jesus then God starts to work and she will starts to trust and as God works he will conform her to the image of Christ.

I think I would take it a bit further.

Maybe the church should step in and help her out, provide food to eat and so on.

Its no use if you tell the prostitute to stop sleeping around otherwise she is going to hell and leave it at that.

Here is another scenario for people to consider.

My wife and I have come alongside two couples. Recently have become believers in Christ.

Both couples have been together for a long time, by that I mean many many years. Both couples live together.

Couple A have a child together. The bloke suffers with severe anxiety and issues due to severe sexual abuse by his step dad.
But they are a family unit.

Couple B have both been divorced and the bloke suffers from severe bipolar.

My guess is both couples engage in nookie.

How would you come alongside them?

What would you say, how would work with them?

Can I ask you to just say what you would do and advise.
No detracting from the issue at hand with other scenarios.

One of things I do like about your posts is your focus on love and it's working in us.

So let me know how you would love these couples.

Ta
Would love to have an answer to these questions...

LOL!! Jesus became an ant? I'd love to know where in the bible you found that silly notion.. If Jesus became an ant, to teach the ants not to fall in the fire, does He become satan to teach us how to not be tempted? Does He become a patch of black ice to teach us not to drive in icy weather? Jesus became an ant, who'd of thunk it..

ROFL (2).gif

Really, are you so naive to believe that all who post on CC have a sound understanding of the Gospel?

Why do you keep avoiding answering, what is the gospel?

I would have not hesitate if I was asked. If you think that is a dumb question then you have no idea how many false gospels circulate the globe.

What is with all this insecurity around superficial things like looks and intelligence?

Eternal life ...Jesus laid it out very clearly when he spoke to Nicodemus.

I admit I might be a bit naiive.
There's only one way to be saved. There are other ways? Like what for instance???

It does kind of seem like a silly question.
I spent years explaining what it means.

You become saved by believing in Jesus who was sent by Father God specifically to teach us how.
I used to tell the story of the birds that were trapped inside the barn and kept hitting up agains the glass window and fell to their deaths.

Or the story of the army of ants who would fall off the Cliff every day into a raging fire and how Jesus became an ant to teach them how to avoid this.

By believing in Jesus we have a better life NOW and we are able to enter into heaven. He opened up the gates of heaven for us. They were closed before. These two ideas are the good news. And, of course, you eventually have to say WHAT we have to believe. That God sent Jesus to us, that He died, that He was resurrected.

There are some verses that I particularly like regarding this:

1 Corinthians 15:1-4 explains the above.
John 3:16 Invites everyone
Acts 4:12 Tells us Who saves us
Acts 2:21
Ephesians 2:8
Galatians 2:16

v vvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvvv

When Jesus spoke to Nicodemus, John 3, He told him about how to become a member of the Kingdom of God.
Not so much about salvation.

In fact, if you do a study on this, you'll find that salvation is not really mentioned in the N.T. the way that we understand it today.

Jesus came to teach us how to become members of His family and join in His Kingdom.
Of course these people ARE saved. But Jesus didn't really have this in mind.
Salvation as ONLY BELIEF IN HIM, was not His goal.

Check it out. (I'm not saying salvation's message is wrong - it's just different today)

I would say you are a fellow brother working it out....

I am going to open up here and let the Holy Spirit minister life unto you....I would like you to try something...

I would like you to print the below verses off in any translation that you will keep reading them in. I want you to put them on a piece of paper and carry them with you all over the place. I want you to get a dry erase marker and put them n the mirror in your bathroom...

I want you to personalize the verses the way I have listed them...you are not trying to memorize them, you are going to eat them, meditate on them and read them even while you have a cold one with the smoke. I want you your wife to read them to you and you read them together....remembrance is not as important here as reading and letting the word get planted in your spirit....

Philippians 4.4-9

[SUP]4 [/SUP]I Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! [SUP]5 I [/SUP]Let MY gentle spirit be known to all men. my Lord is near. [SUP]6 [/SUP]I will not Be anxious for anything, but in everything by my prayers and supplications with thanksgiving, I let my requests be made known to God. [SUP]7 [/SUP]And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard my heart and my mind in Christ Jesus.

[SUP]8 [/SUP]Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, I will dwell on these things. [SUP]9 [/SUP]The things I have learned and received and heard and seen in Christ, I practice these things, and the God of peace will be with me.

Matthew 11.28-30
I Come to you Jesus, I am weary and heavy-laden, and you will give you me rest. [SUP]29 [/SUP]I Take your yoke upon me Jesus and I learn from you, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and I will find rest for my soul. [SUP]30 [/SUP]Your yoke is easy and Your burden is light.”

Colossians 3.15, Psalm 55.22, 2 Thessalonians 3.16, 1 Peter 5.8
I Let the peace of Christ rule in my heart! I Cast my burden upon the Lord and He will sustain me;
He will never allow BILL to be shaken. Now the Lord of peace Himself, will continually grant me peace in every circumstance. I am casting all my anxiety on Jesus, because Jesus cares for Me.

Isaiah 41.10
‘I Do not fear, for God is with me;
I Do not anxiously look about me for you are my God.
You will strengthen me surely you will help me
Surely you will uphold me with your righteous right hand.’

Try this for a while and add any verses you want to along the same theme...

The word of God does not return void, it spiritually prospers and accomplishes what it is sent into!

God bless you man, you got this and so does God...
Notice the difference between the about advice..and the advice to hide from the world and avoid "stress".

Yeah, you would stand with them in the forums arguing because they back you up in your arguments, not because you're concerned for their health & welfare.

Anxiety & depression can cause heart attacks due to the emotional pressure they're under.

It's a recipe for disaster.

BTW, yes it does take guts to admit it..... It also takes guts to tell your friends the truth, instead of allowing them to play Russian Roulette with their health & sanity.

I believe the parable is to compare how Jesus became human to teach us how to live godly lives.....

Not sure if Fran accepted imputed righteousness or rejects it like Willybob.

Christ righteous is NEVER imputed anywhere in the text, there is not one example of the transfer of virtue anywhere in the bible...However, the truth IS, it is our faith that is imputed/reckoned to be righteous...Now, the question is; what is faith, by biblical definition?...faith is steadfast obedience to God from heart purity...
I thought the Biblical definition for faith was it is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of what we don't see. Without Christ I don't have truth; without faith in Christ I don't have the substance needed to be obedient; Without Christ I don't have a pure heart; the very essence of my being righteous before God all depends on Him; that is all I hope for and Christ Jesus is all the evidence I'll ever need. He is the total spiritual sum of our faith. If you think you have to add your own righteousness by faith, you, IMHO, are walking such a fine line on a slippery very steep slope that I would fear to walk.
You really shouldn't be teaching others anything, because you are unlearned in the scriptures, and rebel against God's word, so much so, that you insist on twisting what He says...you are not even qualified to have an opinion..Peter said the unlearned wrestle the scriptures to their own destruction.

I do believe in imputed righteousness through faith, because the apostle John said LET NO ONE DECEIVE YOU, he that doeth righteousness is righteous

Wow, that is really dangerous too. What was said to make you say that Ariel is a rebel to God's word? I am trying to understand where you're coming from. Honestly, I didn't see any rebellion; I agree with what Ariel said; so, according to you, I am in rebellion too. Are you sure you want to go there friend? With all due respect, I wish I could repent and apologize for you. It is only through Christ that we can do righteously. All glory to God.

I have the guts to confess my sins/difficulties on here. :) No offense to anyone, but I probably have more moxie than many of the men (or women) here.. If we are afraid to confess our sins to each other, HOW on earth will we have the courage it will take to confess them to God? If we fear "sharks", then we truly are cowards indeed..

let me give an example of what I am saying-

if I say " it should be every believer's goal to not sin but we all stumble and fall short of that goal" and then you respond and say " gb9 just said it is o.k. for believers to sin" this is MIS-REPRESENTING what I said. that is inserting words , that is dishonest.

that is not a different approach, a different expression , a different view. that is bearing false witness.
Firstly, I do not say you say this or that.
Secondly Amen, "it should be every believer's goal to not sin but we all stumble and fall short of that goal"

Now I agree partly with your first part of this statement,
"it should be every believer's goal to not sin"
There is no "should", as a believer this is our goal, to be like Jesus.

The second statement I do not agree with
"we all stumble and fall short of that goal"

"we all might stumble, but in the end we will make the goal."

Now buried in this language is the idea of inevitability of failure.
As soon as one says something is inevitable, you have said compromise is ok.

Or another way of saying this, we are slaves to sin and can never be free.
Or every second of the day we are sinning.
Or though we are washed, purified, made clean, we are sinner in sin no matter what.

From my perspective this is just defeatest language and the equivalent of saying its
ok to sin, God expects nothing else.

Now this is my point. You use language in a particular way.
I tell you my interpretation of this language and my understanding of its reality.

Do you understand I am not saying you believe this, or do say sinning is acceptable.
But I do say this is equivalent to saying this.

Paul talking about being perfect.

I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.

Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already arrived at my goal, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
Phil 3:12-14

What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? By no means! We are those who have died to sin; how can we live in it any longer?
Rom 6:1-2

The excuse for sin appears to be, "we can not help it"
Paul would say you are walking in the flesh as a slave to the flesh and not walking in the Spirit.

Not only that, by me showing you this reality you accuse me of sinning and lying. It is so
appalling, not only do you hold up sinful behaviour as a badge of honesty you condemn those
who say this is not the way of Christ as liars and legalists.

But those who are lost in sin hate the light and would rather walk in darkness. James says this

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
James 4:7-10

You know the sin your conscience condemns yourself for doing. Listen to Paul again

My conscience is clear, but that does not make me innocent. It is the Lord who judges me. Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.
1 Cor 4:4-5

If your conscience condemns you, sort it out, look to the work, delve in your heart
in prayer, resolve the issues before God. It is here the truth lies.

Again Paul describes it like this.

Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food.
Rom 14:19

Everything that does not come from faith is sin.
Rom 14:23

The upshot of this is simple. If you think thinking an aggressive thought about someone
is sin, and you are guilty before the Lord, then it is sin for you.

So if you make the law and its mark so high, you are in continual sin, then you literally
expel yourself from the Kingdom of Heaven, as well as condemn anyone who does not
measure up to your mark.

You need to learn Gods mark, His love and reality, and how he regards His people.

Paul said it like this

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Rom 12:2

You appear to be judging as legalists to fail people in any way possible.
This has never been Gods intention or Spirit. He would rather include
all who can be cleansed and purified, even those from the streets, failures
and beggars.

OK DC, I take IC paroxetine for anxiety because I've went thru a lot of stuff including verbal abuse.. All your caps and ways of expression make me anxious.. instead of being honest and dragging up all my problems I asked where your love was... Maybe I didn't use the best words but again I have anxiety and wasn't calm when I wrote them...... To which you replied as you did even tho you have so many years experience on me.. Should tact be involved when responding because you don't know..

Here is some truth for y'all. Jesus died ONCE to save us from our sins. Past, present, AND future sins. Once you are saved, you are saved for life, UNLESS you flat-out deny that God, Jesus and the HS do, or have ever, existed.. People can say "oh I stopped believing in God" for whatever reason, and they may mean it, but God knows their heart and if they truly mean it, or if they're just caught up in a bad situation and are too overwhelmed to think clearly about their faith and belief.

So for those who view their salvation as a "daily cookie", I'm sorry to burst your bubble but God isn't a baker. He doesn't sit up in heaven baking endless batches of cookies to dole out to us every day. Nor does he hand out daily salvation. THAT price was paid for long ago, once and for all time. :)
