no Fran it is you

john does not say it no one day does, if the did they would say salvation can be earned, it is not by grace

They say those saved have works, vs those who are not saved who have non..

faith is is the power of work, not the other way around, you do not say you have faith in somon and disobey them and not do anything they ask.

you want to preach works, feel free,, you want to think YOUR work will save you, feel free

but do not expect us to follow
Who is US?????

One evening at a Maunday Thursday church service in 1985, I asked Jesus into my heart and immediately got filled with the Holy Spirit
I was on fire for Jesus
I couldn't put the Bible down
took it to work with me
I wanted to know and understand what all of it said and it was so hard to take it all in at once
After 5-6 years I had passed everyone I knew in knowledge, including my two pastors, but there was so much misunderstanding
one day I went to a new lively church and went forward to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of tongues
nothing happened
but that night my wife said i was praying in tongues all night long then I started praying in tongues
more changes
i would wake up at 4 AM and spend 1 1/2 hours in serious prayer on the front porch
I would wake up in the middle of the night and start praying
but very importantly for me, I started reading the Bible and those passages that were so confusing to understand started coming my way
I had knowledge, I believe God gave me wisdom and several other gifts as well
I've been on several forums for years, I get tired of debating the same old stuff, but my Gospel is right in the middle of what I just said.

Awesome....first time I ever heard your witness....peace bro

So do you believe in penal substitution or reject it like Willybob?

Do you believe in imputed righteousness or do you reject that?

I wouldn't brag about WillyBob's "theological studies".
Imputed righteousness is correct.

Of our own we have no righteousness.

Penal Substitution?
I can't decide. Both ideas can be proven biblically. Both the substitution idea and the atonement idea where we are saved from the power of satan. Right now, for me, it's a combination of the two and I wouldn't argue either one with much force.

Do you have a preference? I see Grace posted a video. I won't have a chance to listen to it till Tomorrow.
I hope it talks of the two concepts.

Amen Grace 777....

The Law does not pass away, but I pass away, and by death I am freed from the Law.

"Wherefore, my brethren, ye also are become dead [have died] to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to Another, even to Him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God" (Romans 7:4).

To say we still have the moral law is again to diminish the work of Christ, we cannot half die, we die completely in Him to be raised completely in Him to a new life, new identity.

The Sermon on the Mount is legal in character and its purpose was condemnatory.

The commands in the dispensation of grace are such.... there are many but I think this really summarizes,

"As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, SO WALK YE IN HIM" (Col. 2:6)

When we walk in Him we have a love relationship, what law is there against love?

This is the correct lens in the dispensational age of Grace
"The Sermon on the Mount is legal in character and its purpose was condemnatory."

If one believe the sermon on the Mount is just to create condemnation obviously
sin is present and failure is so prevalent in ones life.

Walking in the Spirit will warm ones heart reading Jesus's teaching and encouragement.

The difference is reaction defines the difference between those who walk in the flesh
and find the principles impossible to follow or understand as opposed to those who
know the Holy Spirit working in their hearts.

we cannot express how disappointed we are in those whom we Love so much,
for being baited or just confused about what is being said and shared and expressed -
what concerns us the most, is the fact that we have witnessed a different side of those whom
we Love so much. This is not saying that we don't Love them as much or even more, but just
that we are so disappointed in that they would allow others to bring them down to the level that
they are so opposed to...

JAMES 5:7.
Be patient therefore, brethren, unto the coming of The Lord. Behold, the Husbandman waiteth
for the precious fruit of the earth, and hath long patience for it, until He receive the early and latter rain.

I am glad we are in agreement about imputed righteousness and I believe the atonement theology has more biblical basis.

I have read a fair number... (Kant, Bruber, Sproul, Tillich, MacArthur, Moody, Bridges, Kierkegaard, Lewis, Augustine, Aquinas, Chesterton, Luther, Wesley, Merton...and I could go on )and many on here have too.....try again.

I really hate it when people just make assumptions.

Theologians, arghh... do not even get me started.....

OK Limey,

I'm starting to understand what part of the problem is on this thread.

Everybody here reads the bible but few study theology.

So...
YOU don't understand about Penal Substitution. That comes from studying theology.
YOU don't understand about the Kingdom. That comes from studying theology.

Apparently Willybob HAS studied theology, so he knows about the above concepts.
Study up.

It has to do with them NOT being His friends. Or they wouldn't have done what they did..

What does that have to do with anything Blue?

Jesus is going to judge you for YOU not for Judas or Peter.

Yup Magenta it is true and very frustrating!!

Some people just want to stir the pot so to speak, they are not here to learn or reconsider their ideas on something or even engage in a friendly debate.

It is really too bad for them cause if they had a good scriptural basis for their position there would no need to lie and twist things a million ways til Sunday!!

You have been proven wrong a few times, and blatantly lied a number of times also. Lying is wrong Fran. You need to repent of it.

stephen is wrong as usual

if you love someone, you will never sin against them, so why would you need to know the commands you f by acting out of love you would nev r do anything against them or if a selfish attitude?

He us trying to take you back t law.

love covers the law.
Don't I Always hear on this thread that the law is to teach us about sin?

Well, is it or isn't it?????

Why do you think God gave the Israelites the Law to begin with?
Do you think it might be because they were slaves for almost 400 years and had forgotten what it meant to be civil?

Children must learn to be civil, as do some adults.
Do I automatically know how to love my neighbor if I don't even know what A SIN IS??

Did you know that most kids feel they've never sinned?

I've taught kdis for years. Give me a LITTLE TINY BIT of credit.

at that momentous life changing event of our lives, we will never, ever forget -
when we traded darkness and starkness for God's Candle of Life...

a song of pure joy can only come forth with our feeling of elation, and a brand new
celebration begins to run through our veins like a river and deliver our rebirth'...
and another song of joy we begin to sing, for the 'old-ways' have been wrung
from our garments...

God's election will stand eternal over the vernal pastures...and then slivers of Light amber
will come forth from His Lamp of Light, and only then will we begin to surrender our very best
to God's Heart...
poetical...could be posted there?
