Acts 2:1-11 (KJV)
And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. [2] And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. [3] And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. [4] And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. [5] And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. [6] Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language. [7] And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? [8] And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born? [9] Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and the dwellers in Mesopotamia, and in Judaea, and Cappadocia, in Pontus, and Asia, [10] Phrygia, and Pamphylia, in Egypt, and in the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers of Rome, Jews and proselytes, [11] Cretes and Arabians, we do hear them speak in our tongues the wonderful works of God.

It was known languages and it was the empowering of the Holy Spirit to fulfill the Great Commision.

I Cor 14:4) He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself;
Talk about...

You posted HALF A VERSE!!

(1 Corinthians 14:4) He that speaketh in an unknown tongue edifieth himself; but he that prophesieth edifieth the church.

This is a rebuke NOT to speak in an unknown language BECAUSE it only edifies yourself coz only YOU can understand it.

Wake up man!

there you go with the angels again?

we've already debunked that. angels talk EARTHLY languages.

and since when do we edify ourselves? edification is for OTHERS.
You argue for the sake of arguing.

When talking to humans, angels talk the language they understand. Who knows what language angels speak amongst themselves. I don't. I don't think you do either.

There is nothing wrong with edifying yourself. Tongues is good for edifying yourself. (1 Cor 14:4) Paul said he spoke in tongues more that the corinthian church.

...take it up with Paul.

You are edifying yourself, you are building yourself up, you are giving thanks well, you are speaking the wonderful works of God, you are magnifying God.
This is what we need to do:

From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand." Matt 4:17 RSV

That is step one. If you are a Christian, you have already done it, and are going to heaven.

I am trying to focus you on the thing we all need to do in order to go to heaven.
If you have acted on Romans 10:9, YOU ARE GOING TO HEAVEN. You are focusing on something YOU ALREADY HAVE. Why not find out what it is that you have?

I believe repentance is ever important.
We repent unto salvation once. Yes, we need to maintain a humble and repentant heart before God, but you need to move beyond worrying about salvation. You HAVE it.

Jesus gave us two commandments, that we should love the Lord with all our hearts, minds, and souls, and love our neighbors as ourselves. He said all the law and prophets are based on these two commandments.

If you have repented of your sin, your problems disappear. That is what you have, along with a great life, a great relationship with your Father in heaven, and fellowship with your Christian friends.

Now, set an example for others.

We need to repent of our sin. If we don’t sin, there is nothing to worry about.

I suppose it's dependent on how you define "problems".

2 Tim 3:12 Yea, and all that will live godly in Christ Jesus shall suffer persecution.

Paul had "a messenger of satan" to buffet him.

He was stoned, beaten with rods, shipwrecked.
